About us
Who we are
Bloomin’ Arts values the creative potential in people with learning disabilities to develop personal power, social, emotional, and practical life skills to create and produce high quality artistic opportunities to enrich and fulfill their and our community’s everyday lives. We work to challenge the negative attitude towards people with a disability through providing artistic and quality cultural opportunities to our artistic and local community.
We do this through:
- Comprehensive professional Visual Arts courses
- Our Bloomin’ Arts Theatre Company, creating specialist projects, workshops and performances for touring to theatres, arts festivals, schools and community groups.
- The Bloomin’ Arts Dance Company
We aim to support each person to grow in self-confidence, and develop social, emotional, and practical life skills, improve their mental and physical health, increase their independence, and take greater control of their own lives. We passionately believe that everybody should have equal opportunities to use their talents and achieve their ambitions.
We employ high-quality specialist and artistic freelance tutors who run small friendly workshops where, working to each person’s strengths, they: -
- Focus on individual skills to support participants to use their talents to achieve their ambitions.
- Enable each person to get involved at any level they choose - actor, dancer, visual artists.
- Support our participants to create excellent productions and take them to professional theatres and arts festivals so that they have an opportunity to connect with a wide variety of audiences.
- Work with our local and artistic community to produce high quality accessible artistic training and engagement.
Bloomin’ Arts is Located in Lingfield East Surrey, next to the Kent and Sussex borders. In November 2021 we became runners up representing The South East Of England for our cultural work during lockdown by the Achates Philanthropy Prize.
