Who we are

About Better Start Bradford

Better Start Bradford is a partnership programme working with families to help give children the best possible start in life in our part of Bradford: Bowling & Barkerend, Bradford Moor and Little Horton.

We have commissioned a wide range of projects that help support, inform and engage families expecting babies or with children under four, and professionals and organisations working with them.

Led by Bradford Trident, we have been funded by the Big Lottery Fund, using National Lottery funding, to run for 10 years (until 2025). Working with local partners, we aim to leave a lasting legacy for children, families and the whole area.

All our work is being evaluated through our Innovation Hub, working in partnership with Born in Bradford. We hope the new way of working we’re developing can be rolled out in other areas too.

Children across our part of Bradford and beyond have the best possible start in life, in terms of their health, wellbeing and life chances, forming the cornerstone of strong, happy communities.

Our mission:

To work with families and partners to improve the life chances of children in our part of Bradford, through a comprehensive programme focused on improving health, social and emotional development and communication, and to share lessons from this to promote wider change.
