About Better Leeds Communities
Better Leeds Communities aims to make Leeds a better place to live for everyone in the city's communities. Established in 1983, we're a charity with a strong track record of delivering a range of top-quality community projects and services in Leeds. We use innovation and activities like volunteering and free outdoor play to offer opportunities to some of the hardest to reach and most marginalised communities.
Our service delivery areas:
Advice
Established in 2002, we’re one of the largest advice providers in Leeds.
We offer free, quality assured advice to anyone in Leeds, in the following areas:
· debt and debt avoidance
· welfare rights
· fuel poverty
· housing
· generalist advice
Children, Young People & Families
We provide fun, risk in play, outdoor activities and adventure and believe that all children should have freedom and space to play.
We are committed to supporting young people to have positive and active roles within their communities, to achieve their best and to have high aspirations for the future.
Our whole family approach enables us to achieve long lasting and positive outcomes for families; to build on their resilience and social capital.
Activities are designed to break generational cycles of deprivation, poor physical and mental health and low self-esteem.
Volunteering
Our volunteering project promotes health & leisure activities, community events, volunteering opportunities, training and skills development for community leaders.
Room Hire
Our Burley Lodge Centre is a vibrant and modern community space for meetings, exhibitions, training, outreach work, exercise classes and one-to-one work. We offer good-quality facilities; a simple online booking system and a welcoming environment. All income from room hire is reinvested in the charity.
