About us

Who we are

We’re here to help children, young people, and their families feel safer, happier, healthier and more hopeful – and have somewhere they can belong.

Here at Barnardo’s, we’re building a movement to change childhoods and change lives by helping children, young people and their families feel safer, happier, healthier and more hopeful.

We’ve been changing childhoods for over 150 years and we’re still here today. We currently support over 380,000 children and families through over 800 services across the UK to give them the chance at a brighter future.

Our work is diverse—whether it’s offering mental health support to children who have experienced abuse, working with families living in poverty or making children’s voices heard with decision-makers so we can improve the way the system works, we’re here for children, young people and families whatever they’ve been through.

At the moment, we’re focusing on helping people who are;

- living in poverty

- at greater risk of poor health

- growing up in care, and care leavers

- at risk of sexual exploitation

- seeking sanctuary in the UK

- struggling with mental health and wellbeing

- families needing support to give their children the best possible life chances

- fostering and adoption

Why work with us?

By joining us, you’ll be part of a team that’s truly committed to changing the lives of young people. Whether you’re working on our retail stores, helping a young person take their first steps into employment or working hard to campaign to raise the next pound, your work will be helping build brighter futures.

We’d love to hear from you if you want to be part of making sure all children have somewhere they can belong, grow and thrive.

Our colleagues and volunteers are the beating heart of Barnardo’s. We want to continue to attract a diverse group of people from all communities of the UK who share our excitement, energy, and passion for achieving change for children.
