About us
Who we are
Bags of Taste supports vulnerable people living in poverty by providing the help and practical support they need to afford, buy and cook good food. They operate across the country in London, Sheffield, Thanet and Hastings and are growing quickly to meet the increased demand.
Our Mentored courses provide essential life-skills for those living in poverty. We know, after years of supporting thousands of people experiencing poverty, that people need in-depth, personal help from people with a deep understanding of the issues they are facing. So, rather than providing a cooking class that teaches a recipe, we provide a recipe for life-long dietary and financial change.
Our long-term ongoing support empowers people by making cooking affordable healthy food a habit. Because they’re choosing and cooking what they eat – rather than buying ready-made or takeaway food – they’re in control, making them happier, healthier and able to sustain necessary changes to their diet, health and finances. This lifelong impact supports not just themselves but their families, friends and future generations.
Our evidence-based course has been meticulously designed to address the economic, structural, psychological and practical barriers that people in poverty face and to create lasting results.
Since 2014, Bags of Taste have empowered and inspired 7,000 people to improve their health, diets, finance, giving them more control over what they and their families eat.
