About us
Who we are
ATLEU is a young and dynamic charity, established in 2013. Our mission is to secure safety and justice for survivors of trafficking and slavery by using and reforming the law.
ATLEU’s work includes:
- The provision of holistic legal support to survivors of trafficking, advising on immigration, public law, housing and compensation matters;
- Improving the protections for trafficking survivors through strategic litigation, campaigning and lobbying; and
- Building capacity and good practice within organisations that give advice and support to survivors of trafficking, through developing partnerships and providing training, advice and supervision.
ATLEU is at the forefront of this vital and fast-moving area of law, and has brought many of the strategic challenges in the higher courts that have shaped the way ‘trafficking law’ develops. ATLEU’s cases and views are frequently in the news, mainstream media and legal press.
In 2016 ATLEU and was awarded both Legal Aid Lawyer of the Year Award and the Marsh Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Fight against Modern Slavery. This year ATHUB - ATLEU’s online trafficking information resource - was nominated for a Legal Aid Lawyer of the Year Award in the Access to Justice through IT category. ATLEU is also recognised as a Centre of Excellence by the London Legal Support Trust.
