About us
Who we are
Most people want to think of a wanted pregnancy as a positive time, with expectant parents full of hope and anticipation around a new addition to their family. ARC deals with another side. We are there for parents when they are given the difficult and often unexpected news from scans or other tests that their baby is not developing as expected, is likely to need treatment after birth or, in some cases, is not expected to survive.
We are there to help expectant parents can gather the best information about the possible outcomes for their baby and we are there for those who may face painful decisions about how to proceed with their pregnancy. We support parents whatever they decide, but are the only organisation offering specialised services to those who make the painful decision to end their pregnancy. Our individualised support helps women and families cope with the complicated grief that often accompanies this loss and will help them move forward in their family lives.
Every year our small professional helpline team handles over six thousand contacts by phone and email from anxious and distressed parents and their caregivers. We know we make a difference.
ARC also works in close partnership with health care professionals, providing training and support to help them provide sensitive individualised care.
Join our committed team and work with us to ensure parents and professionals have what they need to cope with the challenging scenarios antenatal testing can bring.
