About us
Who we are
Alumah offers recovery interventions designed to empower, support and educate victims and survivors of Domestic Abuse. We seek to engage young people and adults affected by such abuse and facilitate empowering opportunities to help to overcome the effects of these experiences.
We are a charity based in West Suffolk, which offers access to our programme to people of all genders aged 13yrs upwards. We work closely with partner agencies to support and educate victims and survivors who have experienced abuse both physical and psychological.
Through a range of interventions, Alumah will aim to develop a community atmosphere for the service users to grow, thrive and become independent and recognise they are not alone.
Individual counselling and group work will offer space to express feelings and emotions, raise awareness and self-esteem.
Founded in 2016, we are a small charity, all volunteers. Liz, our founder is chair of Suffolk domestic abuse forum and an experienced cousnellor and group facilitator. She is supported by a team of trustees and volunteers. In 2017-18 35 people were helped by our interventions. We have more opportunities than we can take upand want to be able to employ workers.
