About us
Who we are
ALK-positive lung cancer is a relatively rare disease with about 400 new cases a year in the UK usually affecting younger never-smokers, often female. Unlike most lung cancers, treatments are available for ALK-positive patients that may prolong their life for many years. The charity was founded by its chair, Debra Montague, a patient, in 2018 to support patients, empower them, to advocate on their behalf nationally and to campaign for early diagnosis. Ths charity's private Facebook Support Group has increased from 55 to 660 and we have over 3,000 followers on various sociall media platforms. The webside receives 18,000 visits a year. The charity is patient-focused and patient-led.
The vision of the charity is that people with ALK-positive lung cancer in the UK will thrive and live long and fulfilling lives unhindered by their disease.
The charity has a small but active Board of Trustees, the majority being patients. Currently, we do not have direct employees but engage outside contractors for specific areas of work, eg. social media, publication design, finance.
