About us
Who we are
We are there for people in later years when they need us most and were honoured to help over 3,000 last year alone. We listen, and we understand the challenges they face – big or small.
We know things happen which make life difficult, yet our knowledgeable advisors know how to help, who to contact, and what help might be available to people, even at the worst times.
With an ageing population and more than half of people over 75 facing complex challenges alone, we know that our services are needed more now than ever.
People are at the heart of everything we do. We meet and work closely with our community to better understand the challenges people face and the problems that are preventing them from feeling supported and empowered to age well.
ogether, we find solutions to people’s problems, and we actively raise awareness of our learnings on their behalf.
Our charity has been empowering people since 1950. However, our name has changed throughout the years, the most recent change happened in 2021 when we legally changed from Age Concern Colchester & North East Essex to our current name, Age Well East.
Our culture and values
Our principal values are excellence, community and trust.
Equality, diversity and inclusion policy
With the trustees, other volunteers and in our workforce we take positive steps to ensure that we, as an organisation reflect the communities in which we work. We have a zero discrimination policy around age, gender identity, sexual orienation, disability status, race/origin, social class or where you are from.
