Who we are

Age UK Reading exists to promote the wellbeing of older people, and to help make later life a fulfilling and enjoyable experience. Services currently provided: Information and Signposting, Theraputic Dementia groups, Foot-care, Befriending, Shopping, Gardening, Support for Carers, Social Activities and Homeshare.

VISION 

In Reading, there is no place for loneliness in our older communities.  Older people in Reading will: 

• Feel connected and valued, be able to contribute and have a sense of purpose 

• See their town as a good place to live    

• Make and keep new friends 

• Have help and support to keep their independence and dignity 

MISSION 

Our mission, to help achieve this vision, is to: 

• Be a trusted ‘Go To’ place for older people in Reading for services and support  

• Actively tackle loneliness in later life by enabling networks and friendships.  

• Create a connection between older people, their families and the whole community. 

• Empower older people to make informed decisions. 

• Enable older people to enjoy later life with confidence and peace of mind. 

• Be accessible and welcoming to anyone who wishes to engage with our services. 

• Listen to older people and be guided by their views.

Age UK Reading – Personality 

We are a caring, compassionate organisation, focused on helping older people of Reading and determined to improve their lives. We are respectful and listen carefully to everyone so that we can fully understand and respond to their views.  The quality of services we deliver is a primary goal for us.  We take good care of our finances and ensure the support we receive is used effectively, co-operating with other organisations if needed to achieve best results.
