Action Through Enterprise

Who we are

Action Through Enterprise is a growing UK charity transforming the lives of thousands of people in one of the poorest and most remote parts of Ghana. We work with communities in the Upper West, opening the door to opportunity, even for the most marginalised. Work on education, enterprise and inclusion enables us to tackle people’s complex needs, each project strengthening the others. Impact ripples through families, villages and districts - and down through generations.

We’ve worked in Lawra District, Upper West Ghana, since 2012, and in 2024 expanded to the neighbouring district of Nandom. Our 50-strong local team (backed by a small UK staff) work within their own communities, delivering the support they need and ensuring nothing goes to waste. We reach the rural areas that bigger NGOs can’t.

Our programmes have supported:

• More than 3600 children to access school by providing meals, learning materials and sanitary pads - attendance averages 90%, results 20% up on district average.
• 140 small businesses and dry season farmers backed with grants, training and mentorship - most see profits triple. 60 apprentices funded.
• 750 disabled children and carers are supported with meetings, medication, equipment, learning and lots of love – bringing them into school, into training and into the light.
