About us
Who we are
Since 1931 AirS has worked to demonstrate there is a better way of doing things: community-led change across Sussex. Our aim is to help communities, landowners and their locally elected representatives achieve local ambitions for active, balanced and sustainable places in which to live and work.
- We support community-led change to build resilience in rural Sussex.
- We believe in the potential for local action to meet local needs and aspirations.
- We celebrate the benefits of community participation and decision making.

Equality, diversity and inclusion policy
AirS operates in increasingly diverse communities and this diversity is evident in its workforce and its service users, volunteers, suppliers and other stakeholders. In an increasingly competitive environment, the Charity understands that the performance and engagement of its employees is central to the Charity’s success.
The Charity is committed to creating an inclusive working environment, in which each employee is able to fulfil their potential and maximise their contribution. AirS recognises and values the creative potential that individuals of different backgrounds and abilities bring to their work. Subject to statutory provisions no employee or applicant for a post in the Charity will be treated less favourably than another because of her or his belonging to a protected group. (Protected Groups are defined in the Equality Act 2010 as Sex, Gender Reassignment, Marriage and Civil Partnership, Pregnancy or Maternity, Race (including Ethnic or National Origin, Nationality, Colour), Disability, Sexual Orientation, Age or Religion or Belief.)
