About us
Who we are
Aberystwyth and District Hospice at Home Volunteers (known as HAHAV), is a community-led charity, achieving transformational impact across Ceredigion on a grass-roots level. HAHAV was established by local volunteers back in 2015 to meet significant unmet need amongst people with life-limiting illness, their loved-ones, and bereaved people. Our support services aim to build well-being, quality of life, and help people make the most of the precious time they have left.
Since inception HAHAV has evolved to support around 200 people each year, via community outreach across Ceredigion; and living well activities at our Day Hospice – 'Plas Antaron', in Aberystwyth. Our charity has grown from being entirely volunteer-led, to a small staff team of 10 (5.9 FTE) - supporting service delivery, retail, finance and administration. However, volunteers remain at the heart of all we do, playing a critical role in co-delivering services and income generation.
It's an exciting time for us, as we embark upon a journey to purchase and renovate Plas Antaron, to improve accessibilty, facliities, and the ambiance of the building. This will transform the number of people we can reach, and the ways we can support them. We're evolving the way we work, modernising our systems and processes to maximise outcomes for our service-users; including co-producing projects and services across the organisation to ensure we are truly needs-led.
We're a supportive and ambitious organisation, with a bright future ahead; so we are looking to attract and retain talented staff, who will grow with us. In return, we will offer you the ability to play a meaningful role in shaping our future direction, learning and development opportunities, and flexible working arrangements.
There truly is no better time to join us! Together, we can be there for people across Ceredigion facing the complex challenges of incurable illness, when they need us most.
