We are recruiting for a Head of Administration to join the bemix team

Permanent Contract, Working Full-time, 9am-5pm

Office based at the Innovation Centre, Canterbury, with travel to and working from different bemix locations in Kent, as and when needed.

The Administration team plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient day-to-day operations of bemix. The team works hard to support the workforce so they can achieve bemix’s goal for everyone to be seen, to be heard and to belong.

 

Main aim: To oversee, plan and steer the administration across the organisation. With proven skills and experience to confidently approach different tasks and requests throughout the day with a solution-focused, confident and resilient working manner. You will lead, support, unite and develop the office administration team, so that great things can be achieved. The role needs someone who instinctively takes the approach of reviewing and developing systems, tracking progress on projects and thrives on organising and planning a busy calendar of work.

Holding oversight for the bemix mainline, email inboxes and other communication channels, ensuring all are well-manned across the whole week by the administration team and answered in a friendly, helpful and professional manner. Stepping in to provide practical help when needed, to ensure an excellent pathway of communication (both external and internal) is maintained at all times. 

Hours: Working 37 hours per week, working Monday - Friday between 9am - 5pm .  Working hours need to have flexibility to respond to tight deadlines with extra hours, taken as time off in lieu.

Location: Mainly at the Canterbury Innovation Centre, University of Kent site, Canterbury. With great facilities, including free parking, cafe, reliable local transport connections and lovely outside spaces to explore on breaks/lunch/walking supervision. With flexibility and commitment to travel and work at other bemix locations and sites, as the role needs demand.

Salary and benefits: In the range of £30,000 - £34,000 per annum.  With an offer made based on experience and proven track record. Along with generous 25 days annual leave pro rata plus 8 bank holidays + Contributory Pension Scheme option (5% of pay)

The role will provide support to the Global Senior Internal Communications and Engagement Partner regarding the planning, delivery and evaluation of internal communications and employee engagement initiatives across WaterAid. The role is responsible for creating and executing excellent, high quality day-to-day internal communications across WaterAid globally. This includes coordinating the global moments content plan, managing the global digital communications channels and creating engaging content for internal campaigns.​

Working closely with colleagues around the world, this is an exciting and stimulating role at the very centre of WaterAid’s global operations. 

You’ll also:

• Act as central point of contact for any general enquiries into the Global Internal Communications and Engagement team. 
• Support the delivery of the global moments content plan incorporating key global priorities such as Diversity, Equity & Empowerment (DEE), wellbeing, our values etc. 
• Create engaging content, including writing stories for our global intranet and creating visual assets, such as videos, posters and the global newsletter. 
• Support the implementation and delivery of the global omni-channel approach. 
• Play a key role in the redesign of the global intranet and support the Intranet Manager by training editors, analysing usage, and coordinating resource development with subject matter experts. 
• Lead the monitoring and evaluation of data from our internal communications channels, and recommend improvements based on the findings. 
• Play a key role in the delivery of global employee engagement projects and events such as the global employee engagement survey.

About You:

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, demonstrating accuracy and a sharp eye for detail, along with the capability to produce high-quality content. 
• Excellent literacy in Microsoft Office 365 (such as Office suite, SharePoint Online, Viva Engage, Stream, Sway, Power BI). 
• Highly organised, able to prioritise, plan and manage own time and workload.
• An innovative self-starter, creative with a willingness to try new ideas. 
• Excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to engage and collaborate with a wide variety of contacts across the organisation.

Although not essential, we also prefer you to have: 

• Previous experience of overseeing internal communication channels.

We have an exciting opportunity to join the Wildlife team, within the Policy, Prevention and Campaigns Division, as a Senior Scientific and Policy Officer - Wildlife Rescue & Rehabilitation.

This role is essential for the RSPCA to further safeguard sick, injured, and orphaned wildlife and achieve the RSPCA's objective of securing better legal protection for wildlife in animal welfare establishments (wildlife rescue and rehabilitation centres). 

Currently, anyone can set up a rescue/rehabilitation centre or sanctuary with no oversight. This can lead to these establishments becoming overwhelmed despite good intentions. 

This role will develop and implement an advocacy strategy to achieve statutory regulation of these facilities, to protect the welfare of wild animals. 

The post-holder will work closely with the Veterinary and Operations teams to ensure the RSPCA's rescue and rehabilitation standards are based on the latest scientific evidence.

This role will achieve measurable improvements in welfare standards and legal protections, reinforce the RSPCA's commitment to leading positive change and strengthen the Society's position as an influential leader in this field.

This role is being offered as a 24 month fixed term contract. We are open to flexible working options, such as part time hours and the role will be offered on a hybrid working basis; working from home and from our London and or Horsham office.

What a day might look like for you

• Generate and maintain RSPCA policies, strategic aims, goals and objectives relating to sick, injured, and orphaned wildlife.
• Generate and manage the implementation of an impactful influencing strategy to secure improved legal protection of casualty wildlife in animal welfare establishments.
• Prepare and deliver evidence-based briefing papers, policy reports, position statements, articles, and press releases. 
• Work with RSPCA colleagues to  ensure RSPCA's wildlife rehabilitation standards are based on the latest scientific evidence and best-practice, and address key research gaps.
• Stay up-to-date on animal welfare science, legislation, ethics, and developments in the field.
• Network within the wildlife rehabilitation sector and represent the RSPCA in advocacy coalitions.

What makes a great Senior Scientific Officer- Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation?

To succeed within this role, it is essential that you have proven experience of liaising with civil servants, MPs and other members of the government. 

You must have strong communication skills and the ability to juggle conflicting priorities, along with a strong background of working within policy.

• Broad knowledge of wild animal welfare issues and specific knowledge and experience relating to wild animals specific to the post.

• Experience of translating policy and research into change through advocacy, and a strong track record of driving policy change with national and local governments.
• Excellent research and writing skills with the ability to effectively condense, summarise and make sense of large amounts of information quickly, pulling out salient points and spotting potential weaknesses or problems.

About the role 

Our passionate Regional Casework Coordinators are SSAFA’s front line of support for members of the armed forces community in need. They are the first point of contact for all beneficiaries into the Regional Office, assessing needs and allocating the case to one of our volunteer caseworkers. 

You will sometimes handle complex problems from individuals who may be distressed, identifying the presenting and potential underlying needs to determine the best way to support the beneficiary. You will have ownership of cases from beginning to end, coordinating the casework process in a timely manner and ensure that the beneficiary journey is at the centre of the Service. You will have the opportunity to shape processes and procedures within the office which will lead to improvements in the service offered to clients.

To help you establish yourself in this new post you will receive excellent training and induction to SSAFA. 

Whilst the post is homebased, to be eligible for this role you are required to live in the South East region, which includes: Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Guernsey, Hampshire, Isle of Wight, Jersey, Kent, Oxfordshire, Surrey, Sussex.

There will be occasional travel around the South East Region and you may be required to travel at short notice for face to face meetings.

About the team 

The team work remotely and pride themselves in maintaining a close working bond which ensures the smooth operation of the office. You will work closely with volunteers from the ten SSAFA branches in the South East, supporting them to administer casework for SSAFA beneficiaries. The wider support team includes a Casework Manager and a Regional Operations Support Manager. 

About you 

To carry out this role successfully you will have a track record of providing welfare advice in key areas such as, housing benefits, debt, disability, mobility or immigration issues. You will have knowledge of safeguarding and GDPR and experience in dealing with sensitive information and people in vulnerable situations. You will be able to provide excellent customer service by telephone, e-mail and face to face. You will have used Microsoft Office 365 to a high standard. It is important that you have experience of planning and managing your own workload, with minimal supervision.

It would be advantageous if you have an understanding of the way of life for today’s Armed Forces, veterans and their families and if you have experience of recruiting and supporting volunteers. An understanding of the voluntary sector and preferably the military charity sector landscape across the South East Region would be valuable.

This role will be to support the perpetrator intervention across Wiltshire.

You will be primarily based in Wiltshire supporting the Domestic Abuse Serial Perpetrator (DASP) project, providing bespoke specialist support to perpetrators of domestic abuse. The post holder will work as part of the IOM team within a dynamic, fast paced, crisis intervention, advocacy and support service to ensure that clients who show abusive behaviour are supported through every stage of the process of change. Evening appointments are necessary for this post in Salisbury and Chippenham.

In addition, you will support the delivery of the CPR (Choosing Positive Relationships) Domestic Violence Perpetrator Programme (DVPP), which is an intensive behaviour change programme, designed to increase knowledge and understanding around domestic abuse, the impact on children and healthy relationships. The course teaches tools and strategies to help someone change their behaviour. The CPR group will require weekly evening work in Wiltshire.

The post-holder will be expected to work to Respect standards.

Full training will be available for this role. 

Client Based Duties

• Identify and assess the risks and needs of individuals who are abusive in a relationship or other domestic setting, using an evidence-based risk identification checklist.
• Develop personalised risk assessments and safety plans for each service user.
• Advocate for individuals who wish to address their abusive behaviour and show motivation for change with agencies who can help to address the domestic abuse by:
  • Understanding the role of all relevant statutory and non-statutory services available to those who are abusive and how your role fits into them.
  • Providing advocacy, emotional and practical support and information to individuals, including in relation to drug and alcohol, housing, health and finance.
  • Working directly with all key agency partners to address the impact of the abusive behaviour on the safety of high risk victims and ensuring that their safety plans are coordinated.
• Support the client to recognise the abusive behaviour and the effect that it has on their families and assist them in recognising the features and dynamics of domestic abuse present in their situation and help them change unhealthy patterns of behaviour.
• Understand multi-agency partnership structures and work within a multi-agency setting which may include participation at the MAPPA/MARAC.  You will contribute interventions and help design a plan to protect victims and any children, while maintaining an independent role on behalf of your client, keeping the victim and any children’s safety as central to any response. 
• Ensure support provided is accessible to clients in terms of location and times.
• Be proactive with your line manager in carrying out regular case reviews based on a review of risk and abuse which:
  • Feeds back into action planning to further progress, signpost or close cases and;
  • Provides feedback to your clients/agencies.
• Help maintain accurate and confidential case management records and databases and contribute to monitoring information for the service.
• Respect and value the diversity of the community in which the services works in, and recognise the needs and concerns of a diverse range of survivors ensuring the service is accessible to all.  
• Remain up-to-date and compliant with all organisational procedures policies and professional codes of conduct and uphold standards of best practice.
• Utilizs evaluation and monitoring systems to ensure high standards of service are consistently achieved e.g. Orchards Database.
• Deliver high-quality group work, working in co-operation with your co-facilitator and following a clear manual.
• Have an appropriate attention to data, providing feedback to CPR , your line manager, FearFree and commissioners.
• Work at all times to Respect standards.
• Work closely with other FearFree staff to ensure appropriate support and attention is given to the victim’s needs and those of any children involved.
• Respond proactively to safeguarding concerns, working in partnership with Children’s and Adult’s Social Care.

Working with other agencies

• Work alongside other project partners to ensure that all elements of the project are incorporated into working practices.
• Work in a multi-agency framework to support perpetrators to change their behaviour and help victims and families access relevant support.
• Participate and prepare reports
• Prepare reports for FearFree management as requested.
• Comply with data protection legislation, confidentiality and information sharing policy and procedures and all legislation connected to your work.
• Support colleagues and partner agencies, through awareness raising and institutional advocacy, in order to provide the best possible service for those who are abusive within a family setting.

General

• Work at all times in accordance with the requirements of the Lone Working Policy and Procedure.
• Attend and contribute to team meetings.
• Update written and computerised records with accurate and clear information.
• Contribute to effective team working with a flexible and pro-active approach, including cover for other team members’ holidays and sickness.

Senior Programmes Officer: Local First

Salary: £35,800

Location: You can be based at Peace Direct’s office in London or in The Hague. We also offer hybrid working.

Peace Direct is an international charity that works with local peacebuilders and their allies to shift power and resources for sustainable peace. Local people are the experts in the conflicts that affect their communities, and only they understand what it takes to build peace that lasts. The role

As Senior Programmes Officer you will closely with our peacebuilding partners to help deliver an ambitious new programme of work. 'Local First: Transforming the Peacebuilding System' will support local peacebuilders in Mali, Afghanistan, Sudan and eastern DRC to increase prospects for sustainable peace.

Through Local First, Peace Direct will work with policymakers and power holders, supporting them to understand the dysfunctions of the peacebuilding system, and find ways to better support locally-led peacebuilding.

This role is responsible for developing and managing partnerships within the four countries, with initial emphasis on Mali. You will work closely with our other SPOs who manage partnerships in the four countries, and create and manage opportunities to bring partners together to learn from one another. You will also support the development, coordination and delivery of Local First, working closely with the International Programmes Manager and Peace Direct’s Netherlands Office Representative.

We are looking for an experienced, passionate person who can:

• Coordinate and support partnerships with local peacebuilding actors based on mutual accountability and trust. This will require working proficiency in French as well as English.  
• Support the management, coordination and delivery of a complex, multi-country programme across four conflict-affected countries
• Coordinate the development of new work in support of transforming the peacebuilding system in four focus countries
• Contribute to organisational learning and the roll-out of our learning loop

Action Against Hunger UK invested in an accelerated the roll-out of the best approaches to prevent and treat severe acute malnutrition. This includes ensuring that operational research is supported by robust costing and cost-effectiveness analysis. The Research Adviser will work within theNutrition Unit of the Operations Department at Action Against Hunger UK.

As Research Advisor you will: 

1. Support or lead the implementation of a wide range of research projects (including evidence synthesis, economic evaluation, programme evaluations, clinical trials, coverage surveys, Link NCAs and community studies)
2. Support the development of new research projects which includes building research partnerships 
3. Support evidence dissemination, knowledge management, research uptake activities as well as the development of training materials. 

You will be involved in internal projects and external consultancy projects. In addition to members of the Nutrition team, you will work with external partners which might include other NGOs, academic partners, UN agencies and independent consultants. The role of Project Administrator is a permanent position. We will consider applications for the role on a full or part-time basis, with a minimum of 22.5 hours per week.

The focus of this role is to ensure the smooth running of the Household Energy Services (HES) team by providing team-wide administrative support and taking responsibility for coordination of daily and weekly tasks, maintaining accurate and detailed records, whilst overseeing processes and procedures that ensure HES is compliant with GDPR and Health and Safety requirements. You will work across our fuel poverty and retrofit projects supporting project managers and key staff to ensure administrative tasks are completed to a high standard.

Pay and conditions

• The role is full-time however part-time will be considered, (minimum of 22.5 - 37.5 hours per week).
• The salary for the role will be £29,864 - £32,816.
• You will be entitled to 25 days paid holiday (plus statutory holidays).

Specific responsibilities

An applicant appointed to the role will be expected to:

• Importing batches of client information into our client management system and ensuring uploads are working correctly. Addressing errors on our client database: merging data where it is held across multiple client records, deleting incorrect enquires and deleting duplicate client records.
• Make outbound calls to clients when required, such as booking home visits, and keeping client records up to date.
• Support HES team annual leave process, checking managers have approved internal team requests and updating allocations against projects on the staff planner.
• Manage and keep track of HES subscriptions to services or packages and coordinate payments and purchase orders with project managers. Make sure any details and logins are GDPR compliant.
• Responsibility for HES complaints handling procedure – providing guidance to managers handling complaints to ensure adherence to policy and tracking and recording responses.
• Support senior HES managers with recruitment work; liaising with appropriate teams within CSE in producing HES recruitment materials; onboarding new HES starters including providing thorough team specific information for line managers.
• Support senior HES managers with probations and interim review meetings; tracking progress towards probations. Tracking progress towards appraisal SMART objectives with support from the line manager.
• Be a GDPR champion for the HES team. Working with CSE’s GDPR officer and project managers to ensure procedures are compliant.
• Take a proactive approach to problem solving. Influence and contribute to improving HES systems and processes.
• Supervise and mentor the HES Project Administrator, support their learning and taking ownership for ensuring consistency of HES admin provision.

As the Breck Foundation's new Project Coordinator (Pan Sussex), with the support of the CEO, you will lead the initial project set up, the recruitment of schools and young people, followed by all training and coordination of the delivery.

Breck Foundation 

Breck Foundation is a unique and dynamic organisation that makes a real difference. The charity was founded in 2014 in memory of Breck Bednar, a 14-year-old boy who was groomed and murdered by someone he met online. We inform, educate and campaign to help young people and the wider UK public reclaim the internet from those who seek to harm others through it. Our educational programmes reach thousands of students, parents and safeguarding professionals each year.

The Project

Over the last few years, the Breck Foundation worked closely with Volunteer Police Cadet Units in Surrey and Tower Hamlets to train cadets as ‘Breck Ambassadors’, equipping them with the training needed to talk in schools to their peers about staying safe online and the key signs of grooming.

We are proud to take this successful project further having secured funding with the Office of Sussex Police & Crime Commissioner (OSPCC) to recruit and train up to 30 ‘Youth Ambassadors’ (for online safety) in schools across Sussex. The Youth Ambassadors will learn how to tell Breck’s story and empower young people with the tools they need to stay safe online. Working closely with schools to enable the students to become Online Safety Ambassadors for their school community, advocate for their peers and to be a voice of expertise and counsel. You will work with schools and community groups to generate impact through Breck’s story (on online grooming) and other important topics related to children’s online safety.

This flagship project for the OSPCC will launch in April 2025 (Coordinator starts in January 2025) and run for at least 12 months, with potential funding up to three years. We hope it will set a precedent for others to follow our lead and develop similar programmes for young people across the UK.

With over 1350 active volunteers, volunteering lies at the heart of St Peter’s Hospice. Our retail, fundraising and clinical teams rely on volunteers to keep them thriving. We have an exciting opportunity for a Hospice Neighbours Coordinator to help us meet the social and practical support needs of our patients and their carers.

Supporting someone at the end of their life is not just about providing medical care. Individuals and communities add an important layer of extra support allowing the normal and every day to continue. As part of the Compassionate Communities agenda, our Hospice Neighbour project brings together our patients with people from their local community who provide simple social and practical support for a few hours each week.

The Hospice Neighbour Coordinator role makes this happen! The successful candidate will be responsible for developing this important service. They’ll act as a single point of contact providing timely advice and guidance for project volunteers, facilitate bi-monthly volunteer support group sessions and build relationships with both internal and external referral partners. There is a strong demand for this wonderful project and this role is a fantastic development opportunity for the service and the successful candidate.

We’re looking for a highly organised, capable and positive volunteer project coordinator. You will understand asset-based community development and have insight and experience of the issues that affect an individual at end of life.
