We’re looking for a Head of Operations to support the ongoing growth and development of an exciting charitable organisation.
Position: Head of Operations
Location: Remote, with occasional UK travel to meetings and events (travelling expenses and subsistence paid)
Hours: Part-time: 0.6FTE – 08.FTE
Contract: 2-year fixed-term contract

About the role:
We are seeking a Head of Operations to work with the CEO and senior leadership team to manage a broad scope of operational functions, including workplace governance, people management, digital support, data and risk management. The Head of Operations will be a collaborative and hands-on professional with project and people management skills, a track record of operational change management, and the ability to inspire colleagues in new ways of working that ensure the efficient day-to-day running of the Foundation - driving system, quality and process improvements.
Key areas of responsibility include:
- Working with the CEO to deliver effective day-to-day operations for the organisation, managing the Operational Excellence Workstream and our approach to Quality.
- Oversee HR, culture and people function, including recruitment, retention, performance evaluation, employee learning & development, working with our external HR advisors when required.
- Promote a culture of equity, inclusion and collaboration, nurturing a positive and supportive environment for all.
- Embed cross-team working, building key relationships and highlighting synergies across our working practices to deliver efficiencies and improvements.
- Oversee compliance with relevant legal, regulatory, and ethical standards, ensuring all policies are current and regularly reviewed, including annual review by trustees (e.g. GDPR, Charities Commission) and manage our Complaints process.
- Lead on the management and implementation of safeguarding - ensuring appropriate policies, training and guidance are regularly reviewed.
- Support the CEO in maintaining strong governance and adherence to best practices in charity governance and reporting, including keeping the risk register up to date and progressing actions.
- Produce management reports for the CEO and Trustees as required, supporting the Annual Report & Accounts production and Board of Trustees administration.
- Oversee cyber security and coordinate IT support services, including the Foundation’s IT and digital platforms – maintaining licenses, agreements and contracts.
Essential knowledge, skills & experience include:
- Previous experience in a Senior Operations management role, preferably in a charity or not-for-profit setting
- Strong leadership qualities to lead operations and fulfil an executive function
- Reliable with a high level of discretion and integrity – able to deal with sensitive and confidential matters
- Excellent IT and digital skills including Microsoft Office 365. Skilled in using workplace systems including Teams and SharePoint
- Exceptional interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Experience of managing compliance and risk, including safeguarding and GDPR – able to identify and respond to organisational risks
- Exceptional people management and coaching skills with experience of managing HR and L&D functions
- Excellent project management and organisational skills, able to multi-task with attention to detail
- Demonstrable commitment to ED&I, and actioning this through an inclusive culture and positive working practices
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Risk management: able to identify and manage organisational risks and operational issues

The Role:
As the Corporate Resources Coordinator, you will provide comprehensive support across various functions, including global operations, governance, and HR administration. Your responsibilities will span managing IT equipment, ensuring compliance with operational policies, supporting committee and board meetings, and providing HR administration support. Key to this role is building strong relationships, being responsive, and communicating effectively.
Main responsibilities:
- Support the Senior International Finance and Operations Manager in global operations and facilities planning.
- Ensure compliance with operations policies, providing training and support as needed.
- Manage relationships with global facilities service providers and oversee virtual office operations.
- Maintain and archive corporate documentation and financial records.
- Assist in maintaining insurance provisions, including managing renewals and claims.
- Support health and safety standards, proposing policy improvements and ensuring staff compliance.
- Manage contracts with outsourced IT support providers and oversee IT equipment sourcing and setup.
- Oversee the Google platform, ensuring efficiency and security.
- Deliver IT inductions for new starters and manage the IT leaver process.
- Act as the first point of contact for all IT matters, including cyber security concerns.
- Coordinate board and committee meetings and assist with general meeting preparation.
- Maintain company registers and communicate with trustees.
- Assist with employee engagement activities, staff communication, and Learning and Development administration.
- Support safeguarding compliance by tracking and processing necessary documents and checks.
- Process all operations-related invoices and provide input for financial and operational planning.
- Build and maintain relationships across all teams.
- Establish efficient administration systems and undertake additional duties to support the Secretariat.
Essential requirements:
- Experience in varied administrative roles, managing multiple tasks simultaneously.

Who we are looking for
Our Communications Services team is seeking a talented Communications Officer, Social Media and Digital, with a background in sustainable development, science or health communications. The successful applicant will be educated to degree level with at least a 2:1 or 1st class honours degree.
You will need to be creative with the ability to produce social media campaigns, digital content and videos, and lead the development of engaging websites to tell our clients’ stories. Plus, you’ll need to be highly organised and able to juggle multiple tasks to coordinate and deliver a wide range of engaging communications materials. You should also be open to travel, as the role could require you to visit projects in Africa or Asia.
What you will do
You’ll lead our social media and digital services for international development and research organisations around the world, as well as coordinating and providing advice on a range of other communications projects – covering topics such as climate change, health, poverty reduction, social equity, agriculture, water resources management, and green cities. You’ll need to think strategically and creatively, respond effectively to emerging trends, and help our team develop and grow.
Your role will include:
- Leading social media and digital communications services: you will conceptualise, coordinate and deliver social media campaigns, videos, websites, newsletters and other digital products for our clients – leading innovative content strategies that drive engagement.
- Content creation: you will create social media content and assets, graphics, videos and animations. You will also develop design templates and mock-ups, format presentations and Microsoft Word documents, produce event materials and make website updates.
- Project management: you will be the main point of contact for specific clients and projects, gathering requests for new products and services, and coordinating content development and graphic design work with other team members to ensure that projects are delivered efficiently and effectively. This may lead to overseas trips for some clients.
- Managing Scriptoria’s social media and website: you will lead Scriptoria’s external social media marketing and ensure our website and digital landscape remains dynamic and up to date. You will test and advise the team on new tools or programs.
- Business development as part of the team: you will explain our work to potential new clients, showcase our many successful projects, increase the amount of digital work flowing into the company, and so ensure that Scriptoria’s Communications team moves from strength to strength.
Working at Scriptoria

As a small and collaborative team, we are looking for an enthusiastic team player who is happy to support a variety of tasks and develop further skills, as needed, in the role.
Our staff have the flexibility to work wholly or partly from home or from our office in Tooting, South-West London, during regular operational hours (08:30–17:30; 40 hours/week). If working from home, staff must have a working environment suitable for holding video-call meetings with clients. Wherever you work, you will interact regularly with other team members to share skills and exchange ideas.
You will have 25 days of annual leave per year, plus UK public holidays.
Key skills and experience required
- A 2:1 or 1st class honours degree in a subject area relevant to our work. A postgraduate qualification would be an advantage.
- A minimum of five years’ work experience in a communications role.
- Extensive knowledge and use of social media channels (X, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram etc.), marketing platforms (e.g. for newsletters) and management tools (e.g. Hootsuite).
- Experience using a range of tools to create digital communications materials (e.g. Canva and video editing software; Illustrator and Premier Pro would be an advantage) and content management systems (e.g. WordPress).
- Understanding of the digital landscape, emerging trends, tools and best practices in social media and digital communications (including SEO, UI, UX, Information Architecture).
- Demonstrated experience developing and implementing social media, digital and campaign strategies, and using reporting and analytics tools – with proven success in driving engagement and followers.
- Strong creative flair with a strong understanding of best-practice design principles.
- Strong project management skills and the ability to multi-task, meet deadlines and cope flexibly with a range of jobs to meet (and exceed) client expectations.
- Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills, with strong attention to detail.

The Associate Director of Local Fundraising is a senior role within the Income, Innovation and Engagement directorate; a highly ambitious and professional team which is working to grow income and strengthen the organisation’s voice across the UK as the leading end of life care charity in the UK. Marie Curie has ambitious financial growth targets and needs to drive net contribution, engagement and awareness if they are to achieve their fundraising ambitions and subsequently their service growth goals.
The primary focus of the role is to maximise the net contribution from local fundraising but also to drive community awareness and engagement with Marie Curie. This is a key role for Marie Curie, responsible for managing a team of over 100 people and having responsibility for over £20 million Income, the recruitment of legacy prospects, the delivery of fundraising events and the strategic approach of supporter facing volunteers.
The Fundraising teams based in communities across the UK are responsible for raising money, driving legacy sign ups, building event participation and profit and growing awareness and engagement of the need for and impact of the charity’s work amongst supporters and people who have the potential to support Marie Curie. With all local relationships managed by this role’s teams, the post will ensure that supporters have a connected, seamless experience.
The ideal candidate will have senior leadership experience in a fundraising environment with a successful track record in increasing voluntary income or revenue.
