The Role: Bereavement Support Worker

As a Bereavement Support Worker at Addiction Family Support, you will provide crucial emotional and practical assistance to individuals affected by the loss of a loved one due to addiction. Job Purpose: 

This is an exciting opportunity to work on the continuous development and delivery of a specialist service working in partnership with Central Northwest London NHS Foundation Trust, providing enhanced support to women with mental and physical health needs preparing to leave prison and resettle back in to the community. This project takes a trauma-informed, person-centred approach to support and works together with partner agencies to provide a bridge from prison to the community.

This post provides operational management of this project across the three women’s prisons in Surrey – HMP Bronzefield, HMP Send and HMP Downview and a community service delivery area of London and the South-East of England, ensuring quality standards are consistently met, staff are effectively managed, partnerships are maintained and contract KPI’s are delivered.

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the development and delivery of a 3-year train the trainer pilot programme in the chosen pilot locations in England or Scotland.

The pilot will train and equip local health care professionals, health promotion workers and local community workers with the knowledge and resources to promote breast awareness, breast screening and risk reduction messages in their own communities.

Supported by a public health development officer, train the trainer (1 based in England and 1 based in Scotland), who you’ll also line manage, you’ll lead on the development and delivery of the in-person programme, including marketing materials, resource packs and ongoing support for trainees. You’ll also identify opportunities, agree timescales and associated logistics for training delivery within the pilot areas.

About you

We’re looking for someone who is experienced in leading on the development and delivery of insightful and engaging workshops or public health focused projects, to a range of audiences from health or community-based organisations. The right candidate will have a good understanding of health inequalities, the challenges they present to health behaviours and outcomes, and be passionate about addressing these challenges. You’ll have strong communication and engagement skills and enjoy working independently and innovatively to develop successful partnerships with a range of organisations, communities and stakeholders.

The post is a three-day per week job-share with one of the current librarians. Together they will support the diverse information needs of the users at Anna Freud including both staff and students.
The two part-time Librarians share the responsibility for the management, and promotion of the library’s services and resources and for ensuring the delivery of a high-quality information service that meets the needs and aims of Anna Freud.

The Head of Policy & Public Affairs is responsible for leading UK Youth’s influencing work with Westminster, devolved administrations, and local government. They will lead our advocacy for ambitious and actionable policies that will help unlock youth work for all young people. They will ensure that our policy recommendations are informed by the strongest available evidence, meaningful youth involvement, and the expertise of youth workers. The Educational Mental Health Practitioner (EMHP) programme is a one-year postgraduate diploma course and is part of the Children and Young People’s Mental Health Psychological Training Programmes (previously CYP IAPT). The EMHP Programme Director role sits within the Education and Training Division at Anna Freud within the Workforce Programmes stream in Post-Graduate Studies.   

The post-holder will deliver a high quality, academically coherent and inclusive programme curriculum in line with the evolving EMHP National Curriculum, UCL and British Psychological Society (BPS) accreditation standards. 

The ideal candidate will have knowledge and experience of implementing CBT-informed interventions for low mood and anxiety as well evidence-based interventions for behavioural difficulties in educational settings; have a strong, demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion and education and have experience in curriculum design, assessment and teaching in Higher Education.

The role is held within a supportive leadership team who are committed to improving the mental health of all children, young people and families.
