We are looking for volunteers who have a keen eye for detail, an interest in fashion and a passion for supporting sustainability to join our retail team across 8th and 9th October at Central Lancashire University (UCLAN).
Tasks and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Set up/replenishment – setting up rails, tidy and replenish stock.
- Marketing support – hand out flyers, create social posts and other support spreading the word about the event and Newlife.
- Fitting room advisor – welcome customers in to the fitting rooms, check them in and advise on outfits, obtain other sizes for customers.
- Cash desk – helping pack and sign customers up to Newlife Style Card.
All volunteers will receive a volunteer discount of 20% that can be used on any item of stock during the two days that the pop up store is running – which is a bonus on top of our already discounted prices!
You will be provided with the relevant training appropriate for your role and will be supported by our experienced retail team.
The pop up will be open from 10am – 5pm on day one (set up from 8am) and from 10am – 4pm on day two. For this role, we require a minimum of one shift.

Our Treasurer is stepping down from the Board of Trustees following a three-year tenure. We are now looking for a new Treasurer to oversee the financial affairs of the Richard Whitehead Foundation. As Treasurer you will be responsible alongside the CEO for managing the charity’s finances, preparing budgets and financial reports, ensuring proper financial controls are in place, and advising the Board on financial matters. Previous Board experience is not essential.
Disabled people face significant inequalities in education, sport, leisure and employment. They often face multiple barriers to fulfilling their potential and achieving their aspirations. Sport and physical activity have the power to inspire, enable, build self-esteem, and provide success. They can improve physical health, employability, mental well-being and social community inclusion. However, many barriers prevent disabled people from accessing sport. These include a lack of coaching, clubs, transport, equipment and support networks, as well as high costs and negative perceptions of disabled people participating in sport.
We are a fairly new charity established in 2021, with big ambitions for the future. We have started with small but meaningful projects. We are reaching out to disabled people, learning from our projects, and focusing on our vision and purpose.

Treasurer - Role Profile
Term of office: 3 years
The Richard Whitehead Foundation exists to support disabled people to achieve their ambitions and improve their social welfare through participation in sport and physical activity.
All Trustees have joint responsibility for the following main duties:
1. Ensure the Richard Whitehead Foundation (RWF) is carrying out its purposes for the public benefit. This means you should:
●ensure you understand RWF’s purposes as set out in its governing document;
●plan what RWF will do, and what you want it to achieve;
●be able to explain how all RWF’s activities are intended to further or support its purposes;
●understand how RWF benefits the public by carrying out its purposes.
2. Comply with RWF’s governing document and the law. You and your co-trustees must:
●make sure that RWF complies with its governing document;
●comply with charity law requirements and other laws that apply to RWF including submitting an annual return.
3. Act in the Richard Whitehead Foundation’s best interests. You must:
●do what you and your co-trustees (and no one else) decide will best enable RWF to carry out its purposes;
●with your co-trustees, make balanced and adequately informed decisions, thinking about the long term as well as the short term;
●avoid putting yourself in a position where your duty to your charity conflicts with your personal interests or loyalty to any other person or body;
●not receive any benefit from RWF unless it’s properly authorised and is clearly in RWF’s interests; this also includes anyone who is financially connected to you, such as a partner, dependent child or business partner.
4. Manage RWF’s resources responsibly. You must act responsibly, reasonably and honestly. This is sometimes called the duty of prudence. Prudence is about exercising sound judgement. You and your co-trustees must:
●make sure RWF’s assets are only used to support or carry out its purposes;
●not take inappropriate risks with RWF’s assets or reputation;
●not over-commit RWF;
●take special care when investing or borrowing;
●comply with any restrictions on spending funds.
5. Act with reasonable care and skill. As someone responsible for governing the Richard Whitehead Foundation, you:
●must use reasonable care and skill, making use of your skills and experience and taking appropriate advice when necessary;
●should give enough time, thought and energy to your role, for example by preparing for, attending and actively participating in all trustees’ meetings.
6. Ensure the Richard Whitehead Foundation is accountable. You and your co-trustees must comply with statutory accounting and reporting requirements. You should also:
●be able to demonstrate that RWF is complying with the law, well run and effective;
●ensure appropriate accountability to members, if RWF develops a membership separate from the trustees;
●ensure accountability within RWF, particularly where you delegate responsibility for particular tasks or decisions to staff or volunteers.
Roles and responsibilities specific to the role of Treasurer:
The primary role of the Treasurer is to maintain an overview of the Richard Whitehead Foundation’s financial affairs, ensuring its viability and ensuring that proper financial records and procedures are maintained. The role is supported by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The essential tasks are:
- General financial oversight
●To oversee accounts and financial statements.
●To liaise with the CEO on financial matters.
●To ensure that appropriate accounting procedures and controls are in place.
●To ensure compliance with charity SORP (FRS102), charity commission, HMRC and Companies House requirements.
●To ensure any recommendations of the independent examiner or auditor are implemented.
●To ensure accounts meet the conditions of contractual agreements with external agencies such as funders and statutory bodies.
- Financial planning and reporting
●To support the CEO in presenting financial reports and statements to the Board.
●To advise on RWF’s reserves policy and investment policy.
●To advise on the financial implications of the organisation’s strategic and operational plans.
●To ensure that there is no conflict between any investment held and the aims and objects of RWF.
Experience, Skills & Behaviours required to fulfil the role of Treasurer effectively:
●Knowledge and understanding of the Charity SORP (FRS102)
●Experience of financial control and budgeting, preferably within the charity sector.
●Attention to detail.
●Good communication and interpersonal skills.
●A willingness to be contacted on an ad hoc basis.
●Ability to ensure financial decisions are taken and followed-up.
●Good time-keeping.

We’re seeking excellent Teaching Assistants who want to enjoy a completely different way of working!
Our Outreach Teaching Assistants and Teachers support students who aren’t currently able to attend school, for example because of mental or physical health needs or challenges in previous schools.
This is a mobile role which requires flexibility; you and a teacher will work from a designated space in the family home, or at a local library, and offer personalized education for each student. Our ideal candidate is inclusive and uses the child as the starting point to plan an engaging and suitable curriculum which helps each child to meet their EHCP outcomes and grow academically too.
We work hard to match the right student with the right teacher and Teaching Assistant; you may be an expert with students in a particular age group (our students range from 6 to 16), subject, or enjoy working with students who have particular needs such as SEMH, hearing impairments or Autism Spectrum Condition. Almost all of our students have EHCPs, though their needs are quite varied. Our students benefit from creative approaches to learning so you can have fun with how to you teach!
Because of their vulnerabilities and often disrupted learning experiences, our students need a caring approach and our work is underpinned by the principles of Attachment Theory. To flourish in this role you must care about children and believe that every child deserves the best opportunity to achieve their potential, whatever that looks like.
The ideal candidate will also be able to develop positive relationships with parents and carers. Experience working with students with SEND or in a Special School is advantageous but not essential. We’re also interested in hearing from applicants who have other experiences in the SEND arena for example, parents and carers of students with SEND often have a wealth of valuable knowledge and experience to offer.

Introduction to the role:
The Chair of Trustees will provide leadership and direction to the Board of Trustees and centre staff ensuring that the governance and strategic direction of the charity is being fulfilled. Provide leadership to the charity and team ensuring the charity has the maximum impact for members and users and follows the vision/missions stated in the Strategic Plan.

Joining elop’s youth mentoring team, you will be part of an enthusiastic and dedicated team who values and appreciates volunteers and the benefit of supporting LGBTQ+ young people.
You will be an integral part in supporting young LGBTQ+ people of colour with issues related to their lived experience. elop is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people and expects all volunteers to share this commitment. In order to do this you will need to undertake an enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check and provide two references.
Our Mentoring Volunteers provide support and are role models to the young people we work with, and must be responsible, reliable and committed to the mentoring relationship. You will need to be good at communicating, enthusiastic and have a desire to help LGBTQ+ young people. Previous experience of working with young people would be beneficial but is not essential. No formal qualifications are required. You will need to commit to meeting with three young people on a one-to-one basis each for an hour a week for 6 months. This could be online or face to face in a designated location.

Duties and skills
• Have relevant experience and training to support young people aged 12 - 24 in a 1:1 capacity.

• Have the ability to be non-judgemental, listen and support, and create a safe space for LGBTQ+ young people of colour to achieve positive outcomes from mentoring.
• Have the ability to plan and deliver mentoring sessions to support a young person with individual needs related to their identity.
• Have the ability to set professional boundaries with young LGBTQ+ people in 1:1 settings and adhere to elop policies particularly safeguarding and confidentiality.
• Have the ability to accurately record written notes for mentoring sessions and admin for the role as necessary.
• You must identify as a LGBTQ+ person of colour to apply for this role.
In addition, all volunteers need to meet the minimal essential requirements for the volunteering at elop.

Induction and support
elop will provide an induction programme which will include induction to the organisation, induction to the role of mentoring which will include, elop mentoring programme, safeguarding induction training, use of materials, trauma informed approaches, support available. Volunteer mentors will receive line management support and supervision from an elop worker once a month and group reflective practice 1.5 hours every other month.

We are currently seeking one lay trustee who can bring a high level of knowledge and experience in safeguarding expertise to our board. We are looking for a person who is interested in learning about the field of psychoanalysis and is willing to understand the complexities and difficulties involved in providing high quality, intensive trainings, and low-fee psychotherapy in a financially difficult environment. The bpf is committed to finding creative and innovative ways of meeting our charitable objectives which include increasing access to psychoanalysis and widening the diversity of our membership.
The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to the bpf’s mission and values and will bring a high level of knowledge and experience in the following key area::
- a lay trustee who can hold responsibility for oversight of safeguarding in the organisation. The trustee will work closely with our Head of Safeguarding and our Child Safeguarding lead and will provide the board with assurance and feedback about our safeguarding policies and compliance. The bpf needs to provide safeguarding for our staff, our professional members, our trainees and our patients.

Who we are
WIP is a national charity dedicated to making a difference to the lives of women affected by the criminal justice system. We campaign for a new system of justice; one that addresses the root causes of offending (including homelessness, harmful substance use, mental ill health and experiences of poverty, trauma and abuse).
Our Women’s Centres and the services we provide in communities in Manchester, London and Surrey and in prisons deliver trauma-informed, holistic, women-centred support to enable those whom we work with to address the complex challenges they face
Who are we looking for
A Treasurer who will take the lead in financial governance and in shaping our financial strategy, supporting our Director of Finance and Resources in financial forecasting and budgets, and in liaising with our auditors. Our end of year accounts are externally audited. We expect our Treasurer to have finance experience, to be able to understand accounts, be able to comment on our financial records and financial strategy and communicate effectively on these matters with other trustees. It would be helpful if you have experience of charity finance, but it is not essential.
The Board meets 4 times per year and has one away day each year. The Treasurer is also expected to Chair the Finance, Audit and Risk Committee 4 times a year and have regular meetings with the leadership team of Women in Prison to specifically advise on finance
We are looking for someone who can commit to being the treasurer for at least three years.
The role will require you
- To participate in collaborative decision making with the board of trustees and leadership team of Women in Prison to set the strategic direction of the charity
- To work in active partnership with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Director of Finance and Resources on financial forecasting, budgets, reserves policy, risks and controls, liaison with auditors, and advising and supporting to ensure robust financial management of the organisation
- Communicate financial, audit and risk information to the board and leadership team in a way that brings it alive to non-financial specialists

The Listening Place is a volunteer-led charity aiming to transform how we support people who feel suicidal. Our trained volunteers are part of a team delivering face-to-face, confidential, ongoing support to thousands of people each year. They help create the warm and welcoming environment that encourages people struggling with suicidal thoughts and feelings to talk openly without being judged or given advice.
Listening volunteers provide ongoing face-to-face support to visitors on regular, fortnightly 4-hour shifts during which they meet with up to 3 visitors (for up to 50 minutes each). No experience or qualifications are necessary. We look for warmth, empathy and resilience in our volunteers and the ability to be non-judgemental and avoid giving advice.
In order to ensure continuity for our visitors we require a one-year minimum commitment from our LVs, as well as three months’ notice of intention to leave.

We are looking for volunteers who have a keen eye for detail, an interest in fashion and a passion for supporting sustainability to join our retail team on 30th September and 1st October at University of Nottingham.
Tasks and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Set up/replenishment – setting up rails, tidy and replenish stock.

You will be an integral part in supporting trans and non-binary young LGBTQ+ with issues related to their lived experience. elop is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people and expects all volunteers to share this commitment.
In order to do this you will need to undertake an enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check and provide two references.
Our Mentoring Volunteers provide support and are role models to the young people we work with, and must be responsible, reliable and committed to the mentoring relationship. You will need to be good at communicating, enthusiastic and have a desire to help LGBTQ+ young people.
Previous experience of working with young people would be beneficial but is not essential. No formal qualifications are required. You will need to commit to meeting with three young people on a one-to-one basis each for an hour a week for 6 months. Creative Support are looking for a Gardening Volunteer to develop and run sessions for service users with learning disabilities and complex needs in Leicester. Our service users are really keen to make use of our fantastic garden space. We have a very large back garden with several planters for growing.
We are looking for people who have a good knowledge of gardening, in particular growing and looking after plants and would like to pass on that knowledge.
The gardening sessions will run weekly and will also involve our service user families. The volunteer role will also involve an element of fundraising for our gardening project and we would welcome your ideas and support with this.

The Treasurer will support the Board to oversee the financial matters of the charity in line with good practice, the
Constitution and legal requirements, and report to the Board at regular intervals about the financial position of the charity.

- Liaising, where applicable with the CEO (or other appropriate member of staff).
- Supporting the Board to monitor the financial viability of the charity.
- Creating in conjunction with relevant senior staff sound financial instruments for the control of charity assets.

- Advising on the financial implications of the charity’s Strategic Plan.
- Ensuring that the annual accounts are compliant with the current charities’ SORP.
- Ensuring close working relationships with the internal audit team and Committees of the Board.
- Ensuring that sound financial management is maintained and ensuring expenditure is in line with the charity’s objects.
- Acting as a counter signatory on charity cheques and any applications and receipts of funding (if necessary or mandated).
