Are you a qualified accountant with a professional accounting background and could use your skills to help inspire young people to believe in a brighter future, living through and beyond cancer? The Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust is recruiting for a Trustee (Treasurer) and wants to hear what you could offer. 

You will support our Board of Trustees, Youth Advisory Group, Chief Executive Officer and Leadership Team in achieving our strategic Ambitions. You will join our 10-strong Board of Trustees, responsible for keeping the charity on track to make sure the best outcomes for young people are always delivered. 

The full Board meets four times a year with five committees (Finance and Investment; Governance; Fundraising; HR and Personnel; and Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging) overseeing and ensuring the ongoing impartial governance of the Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust. Meetings are usually held in London or Southampton (travel expenses can be reimbursed) and the option to join digitally is always available. Some support outside of meetings is required, and we ask Trustees to commit to approximately 1/2 a day per month. With this role’s Treasurer responsibilities, additional support to the CEO and Bookkeeper will be required around the annual audit (usually March-June). The role is unpaid.

As Treasurer, you will have a high-level involvement in supporting the Chief Executive Officer and Bookkeeper with the preparation of the annual accounts and audit.

Global's Make Some Noise is the in-house grant-making charity of Global, the Media and Entertainment group. We harness the assets of Global to raise funds, awareness and skills for small charities supporting the people who need it most in their communities. 
We have proudly raised over £34 million for more than 400 UK charities since our launch in 2014. Last year we funded crucial work at 59 charities across the country, granting over £2.5m. A further 20 charities benefitted from access to small grants to achieve a transformational organisation development aim. This financial support will change more than 24,000 lives in the UK, with thousands more family members indirectly benefitting.

The Role

We’re looking for a driven, passionate, and ambitious individual to join our Board of Trustees and lead our new Philanthropy Development Committee (PDC), with the aim of raising £1 million over the next two years. As Chair of the PDC, you will create this Committee, help shape its terms of reference, and recruit its members, drawing on a mix of high net worth individuals, foundations, and possibly corporates. You’ll be supported by our charity team in these endeavours and will also provide guidance and advice to our team on its outreach. We are looking for trained Clinical Supervisors who have been practising for over 3 years to lead supervision sessions with our volunteer Mentors. We hold these bi-weekly in groups of 3-4 over lunchtime or evenings online.

What will you be doing?

All Been There Mentors who work with our Mentees have monthly group supervision. Usually there are four volunteers in a group. Supervision can take place in person or on zoom.

Commit to supervising a minimum of two groups per month (approx 5 hours in total).

Key Responsibilities:

• To safeguard the wellbeing of the Mentors and ensure that their needs are being addressed.
• To ensure the quality of Mentor support work with Mentees
• To ensure that Mentors are supported and developed, are participating in continued training and are not left to carry difficulties and problems alone.
• To provide regular opportunities for Mentors working with clients to reflect upon both the content and process of their work.
• To develop personal awareness, skills and knowledge relevant to the Mentor’s role within Been There

• To identify development needs and opportunities.

Insurance costs are covered and the role is fully remote so will not incur any expenses.

Home-Start Trustees Recruitment  - Trustees including Chair of Trustees

Home-Start Epsom, Ewell and Banstead (HSEEB) is a voluntary organisation committed to promoting the welfare of families and children.  Staff and Volunteers offer regular support, including providing emotional and practical help to families in the families’ own homes and connecting families with specialist services within the community.

We are looking to recruit a new Chair of Trustees and additional Trustees; who will increase the range of skills and experience on the Board. This is essential for us to make the best decisions for HSEEB and our families.  For the Chair role, you will need leadership skills and a good understanding of governance. For the Trustee roles, there is no requirement for you to have  been a trustee before, however, you do need to be passionate about improving the lives of children and the families we support.

You will be good at working with others, ready to speak up and ask questions, be thoughtful and open to learning and able to stand back to see the bigger picture. You must take the responsibilities of a Trustee seriously.

We are looking to better reflect the experiences of our community, to bring the skills and experiences of diverse Trustees to the Board, as well as recruiting Trustees with lived experience of or insight into socio-economic disadvantage.

We would like to hear from people who can bring some of the following skills and expertise: Contracting; Governance; Event Planning; Bid Writing; Early Years; Mental Health; IT and Media
