A fantastic charity providing services to unpaid carers are looking for a Care Operations Manager, based in Surrey.
Location: Leatherhead in Surrey, with some working from home and within the community across Surrey
Salary: Circa £40,000
As Care Operations Manager, you will have full oversight of the daily operations of the organisation, and will work to maximise the number of carers supported in Surrey/care hours delivered, and ensure the charity is fully compliant in line with regulatory guidance and legislation.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and leading the team of Senior Service Managers.
- Working with the Head of Care Operations and Registered Manager to ensure compliance and safe ways of working.
- Establishing and maintaining effective 360 communication with the operations, training and compliance and contracts team to ensure a robust approach to quality and contractual obligations.
- Working with the Fundraising, Marketing and Communications team to ensure clear direction for fundraising and grants.
- Liaising with finance to ensure clear reporting and maintenance of budget allocation.
- Producing reports outlining the performance of the care team for submission in the Quality Assurance and Compliance Group.
- Growing and developing services within the care team through increasing delivered hours in accordance with the Surrey County Council Contracts.
The successful candidate will have minimum NVQ 5 in Leadership/Management in Health & Social Care or transferrable qualification in a similar discipline, e.g., Higher Education Certificate/BTEC (Care Management, Business Management etc). Previous organisational leadership and line management experience in a care setting, including rostering and completing observations and supervisions is vital, alongside the ability to develop excellent working relationships with team members, carers and people with care and support needs, while maintaining appropriate personal boundaries.

What will you be doing?
Working with the Fundraising and Supporter Engagement Team you will be:
- Working with the Senior Individual Giving Manager to develop, manage, and plan to grow Legacy and In Memory donations.
- Ensuring notifications and gifts are dealt with efficiently, appropriately and in a timely fashion.
- Representing and protecting the charity’s interests in the administration of Legacies.
- Delivering effective supporter engagement and cultivation activities and events.
- Working with relevant teams to ensure Legacy asks are included as part of the supporter/customer journey for all types of supporters, donors, volunteers, and staff.
- Managing the implementation of marketing plans for Legacy gifts and In Memory giving.
What Skills and Experience do you need?
- Experience of developing and implementing a Legacy and In Memory strategy, marketing activity and supporter engagement.

- Experience of developing and delivering stewardship plans and events for supporters.
- Experience of Legacy administration.
- Experience and understanding of charity law in relation to Legacies/fundraising, gift aid, and information management.

- Experience of using a CRM database.
- A familiarity of speaking/presenting confidently to supporters and colleagues.

The Role

Refugee Council is a leading charity supporting refugees and people seeking asylum to rebuild their lives in safety here in the UK. Providing practical, hands on support, their award winning services include welcoming refugees into local communities across the country, providing specialist children’s services – with a particular focus on refugee children who arrive here alone, helping people to navigate the asylum system, and supporting people to access housing and employment. The charity works with more than 14,000 men, women and children every year.

This role will be a critical part of the Philanthropy & Partnerships management team and represents a brilliant opportunity to support the growth and development of our major donor, trust and statutory and corporate partnerships portfolios.
Working with key stakeholders from across the organisation, the postholder will play a lead role in the development and delivery of an ambitious stewardship and events programme, offering a range of activities to engage and inspire supporters, and ensure that they are connected to, and inspired by, the work of Refugee Council.
The successful candidate will have experience in developing a special events programme to support cultivation and income generation, as well as of developing engaging and relevant donor and prospect communications. They will also have experience of leading on the conceptualisation, planning and delivery of a range of event types, from small, intimate dinners to large receptions and be adept at creating and managing a monitoring and evaluation framework to track activity and apply lessons learned to future activities. They will also be comfortable working with senior leaders within Refugee Council, as well as corporate leaders, parliamentarians and other influential people, alongside having a sound understanding of the principles and impact of exemplary stewardship and cultivation of supporters and prospects.
Refugee Council will provide the most moving and diverse case for support. Cases that encompass innovative external affairs campaigns aimed at engaging policy makers and the public.

Role overview
The British Science Association's mission is to transform the diversity and inclusivity of science. We want more people, especially those from groups that are currently underrepresented in science, to feel that science is relevant to their lives. The BSA’s Community Engagement programmes focus on reaching people who are underrepresented in science and research.
The Community Engagement Manager will specialise in growing, diversifying, and supporting our community engagement programmes.
The role will develop, manage and deliver high quality programmes by supporting community organisers and community-researcher partnerships. This will include programmes focusing on community engagement with science and research, as well as participatory grant making.
This role would suit someone with an interest in public engagement with science and research and experience of community engagement, capacity building and partnership working.
Key responsibilities
The main responsibilities of this role are:
- Extend the BSA’s engagement with grassroot community organisations and communities underserved by science and research.
- Help to grow the BSA’s Community Engagement programmes portfolio and support the BSA’s Community Engagement Network.
- Enable and support community engagement with British Science Week, including managing the British Science Week Community Grant Scheme.
- Project manage existing and new programmes that develop and support community-researcher partnerships and/or enable community organisers to embed science engagement and research in their work.
- Provide delivery support to the Community Led Research Pilot (CLRP).
- Provide capacity building and development support to our delivery partners and participants in our grant programmes to overcome challenges they may face in delivering their projects.

- Deliver against agreed budgets and timelines.
- Work with the Head of Community Engagement in line with the BSA’s 10-year strategy to:
- increase opportunities for those underrepresented in science and research to engage with our programmes,
- develop new partnerships to support new and ongoing grant and capacity building programmes to create positive impacts for communities,
- increase community voice and representation in the science engagement, research and innovation sectors.
In addition, the post-holder will be expected to:
- Support the Head of Community Engagement to proactively strengthen the organisation’s profile and reputation among external partners and stakeholders.
- Work closely with the Head of Community Engagement, other managers and teams (particularly The Ideas Fund) to develop new programmes and improve existing ones and share best practice in community engagement across the organisation and with the wider sector.
- Support with writing funding bids that lead to the growth of the community engagement portfolio.
- Seek meaningful feedback from the communities that will be affected by planned activities (e.g. underserved audiences).
- Other duties as reasonably required by the line manager.

About the Role

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This is a Business Development Manager role (please see person specification below) within a cutting edge and growing international social development organisation. As a Business Development manager, you will identify and win new opportunities for the company. You will ensure and facilitate efficient bid development processes working closely with technical team colleagues, as well as finance, HR and programmes teams, to produce high-quality bids in a timely manner.
Business Development – Portfolio Management
· BD Lead on specific technical portfolios, acting as a liaison between the BD team and the technical team to proactively identify, track and win work in that technical area.
· Maintain accurate reporting of all sales activity.
· Manage a pipeline of opportunities.
· Attend donor market meetings (e.g. Early Market Engagement meetings) for relevant bids, engage in donor consultation and network with others as appropriate.
· Convene decision makers to make swift and informed decisions whether to bid or not.
· Lead on pre-positioning work to identify partners, team members and develop our approach (in collaboration with other colleagues) for new opportunities.

Bid Production
· Lead on and be responsible for technical and commercial proposal development (including budget), working closely with colleagues from our technical, project management and finance teams. For large bids, the technical and commercial roles may be performed by two people, though the technical lead will retain responsibility for the whole process.
· Produce job descriptions/terms of reference for specific roles on new programmes.
· Use company resources and networks as well as own contacts to identify and contract consultants.
· Agree and document all terms in-line with BD process.
· Ensure compliance requirements for each bid are in place, e.g. data protection, due diligence etc.
· Capture and share learning from tenders under areas of responsibility.
· Review contracts for work won against the contract checklist.

Communications
· Contribute to internal action to strengthen SDDirect as an organisation through participation in meetings, working groups and other fora.

They are now seeking a dedicated Housing Manager to oversee their Separated Migrant Children (SMC) service, based in Hemel Hempstead.
Our client’s SMC service offers accomodation-based support to separated migrant children aged 16-18 years, who arrive in the UK alone. As Service Manager for the SMC service, you will empower a dedicated team of frontline workers to support vulnerable young people in leading independent and fulfilling lives. You will provide flexible and responsive accommodation-based support to the young people across 2 services in Hemel Hempstead, adapting to service user’s individual needs and circumstances.
You will work with your team to enable service users to access a variety of meaningful activities, including education, employment, training opportunities and volunteering, and will also support the young people to develop independent living skills, including as cooking, cleaning, budgeting and building their confidence so they can move on positively. In addition, you will liaise with various external agencies jointly to ensure that each young person has a smooth, personalised journey to independence.
To apply for this role, you must have demonstrable experience of supporting vulnerable young people previously, ideally within an accommodation-based setting. You must have previous experience of overseeing frontline staff, of and working in partnership with a variety of external agencies. Working to a new Fundraising strategy with ambitious plans for growth, the Public Fundraising Manager will help us reach the next level in our income generation.
The role will combine direct responsibility for the retention and growth of our Individual Giving income streams (regular giving, lottery, appeals) with leadership and support of our other public facing income streams (community, legacy and in memory giving).
As the most experienced fundraiser in the team, the role will work closely with the Head of Fundraising to deliver on the Fundraising strategy, managing the team in an empowering way to motivate and inspire the team to drive income.
