The Directoe of Fundraising and Communiations will play a pivotal role in the delivery of the Foundation’s 2023 – 2026 Ready for Business organisational strategy and our ambition to reach one million women entrepreneurs by 2030, significantly scaling income generation and building the Foundation’s profile. You'll be:

What will you need to be a successful Senior Engagement & Loyalty Manager?
- Understanding of the different marketing acquisition and retention channels and methodologies – primarily this role will lead on email marketing and lead generation via paid social adverts
- Specific knowledge and skills in email marketing and ESPs - ideally Salesforce
- Ability to plan campaigns and communications that engage, motivate and inspire mobilisation from a range of supporters/customers.
- Skilled at critically appraising creative and copy from concept to completion.
- Excellent and extensive understanding of the full range of paid, owned and earned channels, metrics used to measure response and how channels inter-relate on/offline.
- Extensive experience in cross-channel communications planning, and campaign planning, execution, and optimisation (including digital, mailings, telephone marketing).
- Experience in managing large scale print, telephone and email campaigns

AFH is an NGO that provides aid and assistance to people affected by natural and man-made disasters. Our vision is a world of crises-resilient communities. AFH has taken a leadership role on advocacy for the ongoing conflict in Gaza and has a long history of being a thought leader on the humanitarian crisis in Syria. In order to help achieve this goal, AFH is recruiting an Advocacy & Policy Manager, where the successful candidate will report directly to the Director of Communications, manage and strengthen AFH’s advocacy campaigns, and develop and build networks to support our advocacy efforts. The Advocacy & Policy Manager will also be the focal point between the organisation and policymakers, in the UK and beyond.
The Advocacy & Policy Manager will advocate the humanitarian needs stemming from the crises in Gaza, Syria, Yemen and other contexts in which the organisation works. They will convey the voice from the ground, to various external audiences, and will build a presence there to promote the organisation’s work, which is rapidly evolving and is entering newer phases.
Your accountabilities as our Advocacy & Policy Manager will include the following:
Building external relations
- Lead on creating and executing an Advocacy strategy and relationship-building plan to ensure AFH is well connected and respected amongst key stakeholders including politicians, policy makers, governing bodies, other NGOs, etc. Regularly seek new opportunities to enhance external relations.
- Represent AFH in advocacy meetings, humanitarian coordination and other forums, conferences, events, and working groups, leading as many as possible.
- Build and maintain AFH’s relationships with influential people and authorities, including politicians and Governing bodies. Facilitate supporting regular and meaningful engagement with them.
- Build and maintain relationships with regional advocacy groups in and around Palestine, Syria, Yemen and other contexts.
- Position AFH as influential in public debates on Palestine, Syria, Yemen and other countries where AFH works, making AFH a resource for journalists and other key stakeholders covering related issues.
- Keep abreast of regional advocacy groups in and around Palestine, Syria, Yemen and other contexts.
Supporting internal stakeholders
- Guide and advise AFH’s head and field offices on advocacy issues and trends.
- Support our field offices with Advocacy capacity building and enhancing business development, partnerships, and institutional funding.
- Support the head office with enhancing business development, partnerships, and institutional funding, through targeted external stakeholder engagement and improving the technical branding of Action For Humanity in the eyes of potential partner institutions.
- Identify advocacy opportunities by working with the wider Communications and Marketing departments in the writing, editing, commissioning and disseminating of press-releases, op-eds, statements etc., to secure coverage of the organisation’s work across the media spectrum.
- Collaborate with the Marketing team to create interesting and engaging multimedia content to ensure the organisation’s marketing and brand strategies incorporates our advocacy position.
- Provide analysis to the CEO, Director of Communications and other stakeholders, including inputs and talking points for meetings, as required.
- Promote a principled approach to advocacy, policy and external relations among relevant internal stakeholders, and ensure that external messaging is evidence-based and driven by field realities.
General
- Closely monitor the evolving humanitarian and political context in the Middle East, Asia and Africa, particularly where AFH currently operates, and disseminate written and verbal updates and analysis in a timely manner to internal and external stakeholders.
- Produce high quality public and private policy and advocacy materials including letters, briefing notes, position papers, and advocacy reports.
- Build up AFH’s advocacy work in relation to domestic programmes.
- Promote the advocacy positions of the Syria Relief brand as well as the Action For Humanity brand.
What we are looking for in our Advocacy & Policy Manager:
Education
- Degree (or equivalent) in relevant field i.e., International Development, International Relations, Public Relations, Economics, Politics.
- Evidence of sector-specific continuous professional development.
Experience
- Strong experience and track record in an advocacy or similar role.
- Experience in building strong relations and networking with key staff within various UN agencies, especially I/NGO, Forums, UN, OCHA meetings and with local ones.

Who we are looking for
Our Communications Services team is seeking a talented Communications Officer, Social Media and Digital, with a background in sustainable development, science or health communications. The successful applicant will be educated to degree level with at least a 2:1 or 1st class honours degree.
You will need to be creative with the ability to produce social media campaigns, digital content and videos, and lead the development of engaging websites to tell our clients’ stories. Plus, you’ll need to be highly organised and able to juggle multiple tasks to coordinate and deliver a wide range of engaging communications materials. You should also be open to travel, as the role could require you to visit projects in Africa or Asia.
What you will do
You’ll lead our social media and digital services for international development and research organisations around the world, as well as coordinating and providing advice on a range of other communications projects – covering topics such as climate change, health, poverty reduction, social equity, agriculture, water resources management, and green cities. You’ll need to think strategically and creatively, respond effectively to emerging trends, and help our team develop and grow.
Your role will include:
- Leading social media and digital communications services: you will conceptualise, coordinate and deliver social media campaigns, videos, websites, newsletters and other digital products for our clients – leading innovative content strategies that drive engagement.
- Content creation: you will create social media content and assets, graphics, videos and animations. You will also develop design templates and mock-ups, format presentations and Microsoft Word documents, produce event materials and make website updates.
- Project management: you will be the main point of contact for specific clients and projects, gathering requests for new products and services, and coordinating content development and graphic design work with other team members to ensure that projects are delivered efficiently and effectively. This may lead to overseas trips for some clients.
- Managing Scriptoria’s social media and website: you will lead Scriptoria’s external social media marketing and ensure our website and digital landscape remains dynamic and up to date. You will test and advise the team on new tools or programs.
- Business development as part of the team: you will explain our work to potential new clients, showcase our many successful projects, increase the amount of digital work flowing into the company, and so ensure that Scriptoria’s Communications team moves from strength to strength.

- Understanding of the digital landscape, emerging trends, tools and best practices in social media and digital communications (including SEO, UI, UX, Information Architecture).
- Demonstrated experience developing and implementing social media, digital and campaign strategies, and using reporting and analytics tools – with proven success in driving engagement and followers.
- Strong creative flair with a strong understanding of best-practice design principles.
- Strong project management skills and the ability to multi-task, meet deadlines and cope flexibly with a range of jobs to meet (and exceed) client expectations.

The key duties of this Head of Finance are as follows:
- Prepare annual global organisation budgets by entity, business unit and project.
- Prepare multi-year forecasts and financial plans built on known and likely projects, activities, expected growth and blue-sky scenarios.

- Have critical oversight of the global results consolidation.

Job Overview

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This is a Business Development Manager role (please see person specification below) within a cutting edge and growing international social development organisation. As a Business Development manager, you will identify and win new opportunities for the company. You will ensure and facilitate efficient bid development processes working closely with technical team colleagues, as well as finance, HR and programmes teams, to produce high-quality bids in a timely manner.
Business Development – Portfolio Management
· BD Lead on specific technical portfolios, acting as a liaison between the BD team and the technical team to proactively identify, track and win work in that technical area.
· Maintain accurate reporting of all sales activity.
· Manage a pipeline of opportunities.
· Attend donor market meetings (e.g. Early Market Engagement meetings) for relevant bids, engage in donor consultation and network with others as appropriate.
· Convene decision makers to make swift and informed decisions whether to bid or not.
· Lead on pre-positioning work to identify partners, team members and develop our approach (in collaboration with other colleagues) for new opportunities.
· Negotiate consortium roles on bids and develop a teaming agreement to reflect that.
· Lead on our response (with input from relevant colleagues) to direct approaches from clients to provide consultancy and research services.
· Regularly meet existing partners/clients to develop and maintain relationships and to proactively identify opportunities for further joint working.
