We're looking for a kind, compassionate and resilient Team Leader to join our Homelessness service in Kensington and Chelsea.

The post holder will be fully involved in all aspects of the day-to-day management of their designated service, including line managing the relevant front-line staff. You will lead and develop competence of direct reports as well as carry caseloads of customers requiring support. You will work closely with the Contract Manager to ensure that the service delivers on all targets, both financial and those around the quality of the service.

Heaney Hub implements and promotes the Psychologically Informed Environment (PIE) model. This is an approach to supporting people out of homelessness, particularly those who have experienced complex trauma or are diagnosed with a personality disorder. It also considers the psychological needs of staff: developing skills and knowledge, increasing motivation, job satisfaction and resilience.

What you'll do:

- Lead and motivate your team to ensure the championing of and maintenance of a positive local culture within your service
- Deliver effective supervision, case work management and team meetings with staff and ensure that information, reporting and communication
- Responsible for the personal development of staff, identifying high performers and feeding into the organisation's succession plans
- Ensure that Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) required as part of the Contract are met and recorded correctly
- Develop key business relationships with all appropriate relevant customers/external parties to ensure service delivery excellence and maximise new business opportunities in own patch
- Participate in and monitor the initial and continuous assessment of needs and ensure that support planning is carried out in line with assessed needs of the customer
- Carry out other administrative tasks as relevant to the service and directed by the Contract/Heads of Operations
- Deliver an out of hours on-call service for region, where required
- Ensure that all safeguarding cases are managed in line with safeguarding protocols and are reported to Contract Manager/Head of Operations, as appropriate
- Ensure Look Ahead Health and Safety policies are adhered to at all times and to uphold all health and safety responsibilities within relevant policies and local protocols

About You

Do you want to be part of a team leading the field in the development of large-scale nature restoration projects driven by private and public investment into nature’s recovery? 

In Wales, the Trusts are setting an ambition to scale up and increase the pace of natures recovery. They have a proven track record of delivering nature conservation projects. However, they now need to scale this to all Wales programmes. They now have support teams from political advocacy, green financing and corporate engagement to match our unique ability to deliver nature restoration at the local level. In the past 18 months, The Trusts have been developing new approaches to funding nature’s recovery from the private sector as well as maintaining close links with funders. These are exciting times and they are building on their unique position to develop major programmes with partners across Wales. 

They need dedicated expertise and capacity to work with Trusts to bring this work into coherent programmes and develop models and plans that build revenues for nature’s recovery allowing much greater investment. This post is designed to provide the expertise and capacity to work alongside Trust staff who are already committed to developing these programmes. 

You will be from a nature restoration background with an ambition to drive forward a step change in scale and pace of action. You will be organised and motivated, able to take the initiative and lead the effective delivery of nature restoration programme development in Wales. You will have an understanding of issues facing nature. You will likely have experience in project development work and, ideally, an understanding of Welsh partners. You are used to keeping accurate records and can present clearly and professionally. You will be a great communicator, with a personable style who can work with many different people across the wonderful variety of geography and activities of the Trusts.

Beyond Support – Women’s Telephone Support Worker – Southampton

Beyond the Streets is a small charity with a big determination to see routes out for women selling sex in the UK.  Our ‘Direct Work’ is central to the organisation, and due to an increase in service demand we are looking to increase our staff team by recruiting a Women’s Telephone Support Worker.

Working as part of a small team in our office in Southampton, you will be responsible for providing regular telephone support to a caseload of women.  Within this, you will be often the first point of support for women involved in the sex industry, offering a listening ear for them to process some of their feelings and experiences within this space and providing emotional support; as well as providing more practical assistance to overcome the barriers they face in accessing support.  This could be through advocating with external agencies e.g., mental health, housing, problematic substance use, homelessness, poverty, domestic abuse, sexual violence, the criminal justice system; and to make positive steps forward with their lives.

Overview of Role:

As Human Resources Advisor you will be joining a small, friendly and supportive HR team providing advice and support to managers and staff across the full range of employee life-cycle activities. This is a maternity cover post, so is offered on a fixed term contract for 12 months. As this is a short-term contract, we are looking for someone with HR experience at this level who can also embody our culture as a charity with a Christian ethos.

You will provide HR advice and support, to our Centres of Mission (CoM) (which are local projects run in partnership with Diocese to share the Good News of Jesus); our central services team in Sheffield known as Co.Lab; and our Sheffield based conference centre and accommodation.

The HR Advisor will play a key role in developing and strengthening the relationship between the staff, line managers and HR and ensure we deliver an effective HR service which is aligned with the service to the wider organisation. The post holder will work closely with managers in making sure the Christian ethos and values of Church Army are part of their culture and practice as line managers.

This role suits someone who is a HR generalist with strong knowledge of key HR practices including recruitment and retention, employee relations and development and training. The ideal candidate will be experienced in working in HR and hold a related qualification such as CIPD. As the role will be the link between HR, CoMs and our Co.Lab team, the post holder will play a key part in ensuring the vision, values and ethos of Church Army are evident. Dose of Nature is a mental health charity whose objective is to improve the mental health and wellbeing of individuals through increased engagement with the natural world. We are seeking a skilled Grants and Compliance Manager to join our charity. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the grant application process and building relationships within the local community.

The Grants and Compliance Manager will: -

Manage the grant application process including

• Inviting people, groups, schools, churches and charities to apply
• Work with grant applicants to produce good quality grant applications
• Reviewing applications against the applicable criteria
• Produce reports and evaluations of applications
• Conduct due diligence on applicants

Manage the grants award process

• Undertake correspondence with applicants
• Arrange bank payments to be made including liaise with trustees to ensure timely payments of success grant awards
• Monitoring and evaluating supported projects through visits and reports
• Maintaining records of grant awards and all applications

Financial Management and Accounts

• Ensure financial management of grants and undertake any financial control requirements

The Baobab Centre is a non-residential therapeutic community that supports young asylum seekers and refugees who have experienced human rights abuses and have sought asylum in the UK as unaccompanied minors. Our two focus areas are rehabilitation and justice.

The role of the Baobab Casework Advocate is to provide care and support for our community of unaccompanied asylum seeking and refugee children and young people. An ‘advocate’ is someone who supports another to express their views and wishes, to stand up for their rights, to enable one to make choices and access opportunities, while understanding the individual’s vulnerability and need.  As Casework Advocate you will work within our multidisciplinary team to provide the intensive support required, identify indicators of risk and safeguard young people from significant harm.

Mental Health

As Casework Advocate you will understand the impact of specific human rights abuses on the development of children and young people in exile and their individual experiences of loss, trauma and grief on their mental health and well-being.  All the young people Baobab supports suffer significant mental health and developmental difficulties and many function in an unstable and more immature way than their chronological age. Due to their experiences, it takes time to gain trust from the young people in our community.

Baobab’s Model

It is our experience that it takes a significant amount of time to understand Baobab’s model of working, which aims for rehabilitation and justice through attending to both the internal and external world of each young person (see more detail in accompanying ‘Baobab Model’ document). It is critical that as a Casework Advocate you strive to have an insight to the experiences of both the internal and external factors impacting on the lives of unaccompanied young people attending our centre. It is also critical you understand the the ways in which UK society and policy impacts on young asylum seekers (including invisibility, marginalisation, discrimination and the fact of waiting in uncertainty for a long time)

Multi-disciplinary Working A key aspect of the role is communicating with members of the team at Baobab and building relationships with other workers in the networks around each young person including social workers, teachers, foster carers, lawyers, clinicians in hospitals and community settings. Baobab aims to be a reflective, thinking organisation and we place a high value on shared thinking time, sharing responsibilities and working together with others who have a key role in relation to each young person both within and outside of Baobab.

Accessing rights and entitlements

The Casework Advocate supports community members to better understand the context in which they are living and how to access appropriate care, rights and entitlements. This involves working closely with each young person’s Key Work Clinician, and together strengthening relationships with external networks and developing holistic support plans to meet identified needs. As a Casework Advocate you must be prepared to challenge certain decisions and practices by external agencies where required for the welfare of the young person. The role involves supporting young people to initiate legal challenges when necessary and advocating on young person’s behalf where they are unable to.

Working towards independence

A key component of the role is to empower individuals to communicate their views, needs and experiences and participate in decision making processes. You will encourage young people to develop their level of knowledge and skills to enable their independence and progression towards their aspirations. Many of the young people Baobab supports find the task of taking responsibility for their own lives and making choices hugely challenging.

Flexible Working: Due to the nature of the role, you will need to be onsite during training sessions. Key Responsibilities: 

Programme Promotion: 

• Promote the training programme to referral organisations and potential students by delivering inspiring and motivating presentations to attract potential applicants. 

• Build and maintain relationships with referral organisations to enhance programme visibility and referral pathways.

• Manage a dedicated inbox for referrals.

Information and Taster Sessions: 

• Coordinate and deliver information and taster sessions both internally and externally to inform and engage potential participants. 

Recruitment: 

• Recruit a target number of applicants for the programme. 

• Conduct interviews, complete assessment paperwork, and evaluate applicants’ learning needs and support requirements. 

• Signpost applicants not suitable to the programme to other suitable organsations.

• Monitor student progress and work collaboratively to offer additional support in areas such as housing, finances, mental and/or physical health as needed.
