Viewpoint is a service user charity currently covering Hertfordshire. Our aim is to enable people who use mental health and addiction services to have a voice in feeding back how well services are working and to be part of future service planning. 

We are now seeking a person to support the chief executive to ensure that Viewpoint implements its agreed strategy within budget and operates as a model of best practice for user involvement and to manage and supervise staff employed by Viewpoint. 

Viewpoint Operational Manager  

Title: Operational Manager 

Responsible to: Chief Executive 

Location: Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire 

Hours / salary: 22 hours / week. Full Time Equivalent Salary £35,000 p.a. 

Pension: Viewpoint offers a defined contribution pension scheme. Contribution levels are based on Total Gross Salary - Employer 5%, Employee 3%. Participation in the scheme will commence after an initial 3 month waiting period. 

Annual leave: 25 days per year plus 8 bank holidays. Holiday entitlement will start to accrue after a satisfactory six month probationary  
period.

About Viewpoint 

Viewpoint develops innovative ways that support people with a lived experience of mental health issues and / or addiction challenges. Across Hertfordshire we work with over 800 experts by experience and put them at the centre of everything we do. We support people to be independent, have their say on the quality of services that they experienced and influence change to those services. 

Our support is flexible and needs-led and is delivered through outreach groups, one to one interaction or remotely.

Staff or members who have a lived experience of mental illness and / or addiction facilitate our programmes.

We offer educational sessions that enhance wellbeing and equip individuals with the skills and self-belief to aid their recovery journey. 

Our goals 

Purpose of the post: 

•  To support the chief executive to ensure that Viewpoint implements its agreed strategy within budget and operates as a model of best practice for user involvement. 

•  To manage and supervise staff employed by Viewpoint. 

•  To promote Viewpoint with both statutory and Voluntary Community Faith Social Enterprise (VCFSE) at a county level. 

Principal Responsibilities: 

Management  

• To provide operational management and leadership to achieve the aims and objectives of the Viewpoint strategy. 

• To ensure that appropriate policies and procedures are adhered to, developed and updated in compliance with relevant legislation.

• To attend contract reviews and provide such monitoring information as required by the service contract. 

• To develop and maintain good working relationships with all relevant statutory, independent, and voluntary agencies. 

• To raise and promote the work of Viewpoint across the county and all relevant bodies. 

Staff 

• Provide effective line management to all Viewpoint staff in accordance with agreed policies 

Financial 

• To participate in the preparation and production of the Viewpoint Annual Report and Business Plan. 

• To ensure proper use of resources and working within agreed budgets. 

Fund-raising 

• To contribute to the development of fund-raising activities to ensure the continuation and development of Viewpoint. 

Representation 

• To negotiate appropriate user representation with service commissioners and providers. 

• To support user representation on County-wide forums. 

General 

• To ensure relevant recording, monitoring and evaluation of project work is routinely carried out and in compliance with relevant legislation and the requirements of the service contract. 

• Maintain awareness of national and local initiatives and best practice regarding user involvement. 

• Undertake other duties, consistent with the level of the post, as required from time to time by the Chief Executive and Executive Committee. 

Service Development and Delivery  

• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of legislation, national and local policies and issues in relation to mental health and wellbeing.

• Comply with all relevant Viewpoint policies, procedures and guidelines, including those relating to Equal Opportunities, Health and Safety and Confidentiality of Information, and to be aware of any changes in these.

• Be aware of, teach others and challenge issues in relation to stigma, low expectations and anti-discriminatory practice as appropriate. 

• Complete entries in the appropriate records and performance database. 

Learning and Development  

• Participate in mandatory training and development activities

The Nuffield Council on Bioethics (NCOB) is looking for an enthusiastic, creative, and organised communications all-rounder to support our communication and engagement activities and assist in our mission to ‘Make Ethics Matter’.

The role

The Communications and Engagement Officer role combines work on events, stakeholder management, public affairs and communications, all seeking to build audience engagement and increase the profile and influence of the Nuffield Council on Bioethics.

The is a vital role within our Executive team, working across our priority areas and workstreams, with range of stakeholders, and utilising a variety of channels including in person and online events, website, email, social media and traditional media.

The Communications and Engagement Officer reports to the Senior Communications Manager and works closely with them across all communications functions. This post will have responsibility for updating our website, running our social media channels, producing internal and external newsletters and championing and maintaining our new brand identity, which is being introduced from November 2024. The post holder will also help to deliver our media relations and policy influencing activities, playing an active role in delivering media campaigns and in supporting our Parliamentary and Government engagement.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their skills across the full range of communications and engagement, working on projects and campaigns in the high-profile area of bioethics, and supporting our ambitious policy-influencing agenda. 

About you 

We are looking for someone with experience across the communications and engagement mix, including in events and internal communications, stakeholder management and digital and social media content creation. Our work focuses on research and policy in health and life sciences, and while you don’t need to be an expert in those areas, you should have an enthusiasm to develop knowledge of them and the ability to quickly get to grips with the landscape in which the Nuffield Council operates, our strategy and our target audiences. 

You will enjoy working in a team environment and will have excellent written and verbal communication skills. You will be confident working with a range of stakeholders, ranging from subject specialists and academics to policy makers, journalists and members of the public. We are seeking someone who can think creatively about communicating complex and technical research and can work independently on a range of projects. You will be highly organised, with good project management skills and the ability to prioritise and work across several projects at once. 

We are looking for someone with a creative mind, strong news sense and ability to tailor communications to the appropriate audience. You will be able to turn your hand to writing newsletter copy, consultation responses, stakeholder emails and event materials / briefings to a high standard. You will be able to distil key messages from our outputs and use them to create content for a range of communication channels and audiences. 

Ideally, you will have some experience of managing both online and face-to-face events. You will be confident working with audio visual equipment and systems and have experience of using data for analysis, reporting and evaluation. 

Stakeholder engagement is a big part of the role, so you will need some knowledge and experience of using databases/CRM systems to manage and report on stakeholder communications.

Here for You is Breast Cancer Now’s personalised referral route to all of our services.

This role is responsible for the management and development of the Here for You delivery team. This includes training and line managing support officers and volunteers who make initial and follow up calls to primary and secondary breast cancer patients. This new role has been created to take on day to day responsibility of the Here for You delivery tasks, ensure patients get calls within service level agreements and provide timely and trusted information and support to people diagnosed with breast cancer. This involves leading the team, responding to safeguarding issues, collecting data, and guide the team to deliver excellent information on the phone. The role also involves collaborating with colleagues focusing on the Here for You expansion, as well as working with colleagues across the primary services, secondary services and personalised support services. The role also liaises with our Helpline team.

You will be responsible for the financial management and strategic financial overview of the Charity. You will contribute to the corporate needs and development of the charity, with advice and input grounded in sound financial strategy and legal principles. You will maintain effective management systems and controls to safeguard the financial integrity of the charity and ensure that all departments are promptly and accurately informed about their financial performance and fulfil the role of Company Secretary.

Key projects you can expect to work on this year include investment in the future growth of the charity; and the procurement of new central systems software including finance software fit for a growing charity.

- Proficiency in the use of finance software systems and related software.

Research Involvement Lead

We have an exciting opportunity for a Research Involvement Lead to work closely with a friendly and knowledgeable team who are passionate about stroke research. This post includes opportunities to work with people who have a lived experience of stroke to help ensure that they can make a meaningful contribution to the stroke research that we fund.

Location: Home-based, UK, Nationwide, however, occasional travel will be required as part of this role (may include team meetings or other work-related meetings)

Hours: Full-time, 35 hours per week (flexible working available)

Salary: £37,000 per annum (inner London weighting £3,950 per annum or outer London weighting £2,100 per annum may be applied in accordance to where you live)

The Role

Reporting to the Head of Research, the Research Involvement Lead will be responsible for managing the involvement of people with lived experience of stroke in the research that we fund, ensuring that Stroke Association funded research has the people affected by stroke at its heart.

Key responsibilities will include:

· Leading the Stroke Association’s involvement in research work.

· Ensuring meaningful involvement of people affected by stroke in our funding schemes.

· Leading the development and implementation of our capability as a systems leader in involvement.

We're looking for 5 kind, compassionate and resilient Support Workers to join our Heany Cluster service in Kensington and Chelsea.

There are 5 hostels in the cluster ranging from high, medium to low support which are all based in the borough of RBKC. The

Heaney Cluster an intensively supported housing scheme for the most challenging customers in the borough. The majority of the customers come with a history of entrenched rough sleeping; often coupled with enduring mental health difficulties. The aim is to offer a home to those who would have difficulty finding accommodation because of their lifestyle choices involving extreme drug and alcohol misuse. The high support hostel caters for eleven service users with complex needs and is staffed 24 hours a day with the minimum of three staff on duty. The medium support services are staffed from 9am to 9pm where the customers present with varying degrees of mental health issues. The Assessment Centre is staffed 24/7.

The hostels are in close proximity to each other, and staff will be expected to work across the units. Three of the hostels supports both male and female customers and one is males only.
Heaney Hub implements and promotes the Psychologically Informed Environment (PIE) model. This is an approach to supporting people out of homelessness, particularly those who have experienced complex trauma or are diagnosed with a personality disorder. It also considers the psychological needs of staff: developing skills and knowledge, increasing motivation, job satisfaction and resilience.

Support Workers will devise person centred support plans with customers to help them develop the life skills they require to meet their needs and goals. This will include sign posting them to the local drug and alcohol services to address substance misuse issues. They will work with customers to promote social inclusion and alongside other members of the team to promote independent living, encouraging customers to maximise their skills and choices.

Oaklands & St Kilda is a pair of 6 unit supported accommodation mental health rehab services working with young people between the ages of 18-25 who may have experienced a mental health related hospital admission to gain and develop skills for future independent living. The service will support individuals transitioning from Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services to Adult services.

The service forms part of a pair of services supporting up to 12 individuals at any one time across the sites, providing a welcoming and supportive environment for young people across London on a spot purchase basis.

Support workers will manage a number of young people to help them to identify, plan and achieve their goals, develop relationships meaningful to them and achieve greater independence by providing a flexible and individually tailored support package.

This is a Waking Night role working to support young people throughout the night at the service.

This will consist of 4 weekly shifts from 22:00 to 08:00

Job Summary 

Reporting to the Head of IT, this position is responsible for ensuring the integrity of the IT network within CARE International UK and the all the European Offices. The 2nd Line Support Engineer is responsible for installing, maintaining and supporting computer communication networks within CARE Offices. About you

The IT team is looking for an enthusiastic, committed, and professional 2nd Line Support Engineer with considerable experience working as a network/infrastructure engineer at various levels.
