We are looking for a proactive, experienced Data and Operations Senior Officer to oversee our data operations and support Bliss to raise more money to help babies born sick and premature.

Role Summary

One in seven babies is born premature or sick and needing care on a neonatal unit – this isn’t what most parents expect for their baby. Join the leading national charity dedicated to supporting babies, families and NHS staff at this critical time.

The Data and Operations Senior Officer is responsible for the daily management and effective operation of the Bliss CRM, Raiser’s Edge, as well as leading on key data projects to make the most of the insights and information captured in our CRM to maximise Bliss’ fundraising. This role also leads on the delivery and development of data processes which are smooth, timely and efficient, and works with stakeholders across the organisation - especially Fundraising, Finance and Digital - to ensure that colleagues have access to the right data and efficient processes to meet their needs.

Terms

• 21 hours a week
• Hybrid (One day worked per week in the Bliss office, London Bridge (Tuesdays preferred)

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone to take ownership of Bliss’ data operations, helping to support our Fundraising department – and the wider organisation – to make the best use of our CRM systems, supporter data, and internal resources to raise more money and reach more families. This role will act as Bliss’ internal subject matter expert for all things data, and will line manage the Data Officer. They will be responsible for the efficient import, export and analysis of Bliss’ data, and will support teams across the organisation to better use of their data to meet their objectives.

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:

• Experience of overseeing data operations and CRM use within a charity fundraising context
• Significant experience of designing, implementing and documenting data processes, ensuring that data is accurate, easy-to-use and secure
• Experience of improving processes to make the best use of staff time and resource
• Demonstrable understanding of different approaches to fundraising, and how effective use of data can support them
• Confidence working with colleagues across the charity – particularly in Fundraising, Finance and Digital – to design processes and ensure compliant, effective use of data

ABOUT THE ROLE 

The Community Education Officer plays an important role in both collaborating with communities to take part in shared learning and disseminating findings to wider audiences throughout the project, informing how it develops and boosting its impact. You will work in partnership with individuals and their communities, under the supervision of the Senior Project Manager as part of the education and advocacy programme. This will include cooperative identification of changes to the food system in Knowsley in the last century, engaging project participants in discussing those changes and raising awareness to wider audiences, supporting the project to achieve its aim of creating a shared understanding and celebrating Knowsley’s heritage and influencing strategies to shape the future of the borough, through sustained, quality engagement. Work as part of the Student Voice Team to embed campaigning and organising across all areas of our work ensuring that students from every segment of the membership are empowered to make change through campaigns. Enable our communities (Academic Associations, Liberation Networks and Student Representatives) to grow and develop into effective representative bodies.

Responsibilities include:

Growing, planning & delivering KCLSU campaigns

• Provide resources, support and mentoring to student officers and student campaigners, utilising digital and offline organising models of engagement, to support them to develop hard-hitting and effective campaigns.
• Coordinate and work with KCLSU teams to support representatives and members in delivering their campaigns and communicate the impact of campaigning at KCLSU, building interest and recruiting new activists as a result.
• Deliver a range of approaches to student voice engagement, developing diverse methods of participation and innovative practices for facilitating student decision-making, co-creation, and capturing insight.
• Work with external organisations to lead on KCLSU involvement in local, national and NUS campaigns.
• Responsible for measuring and reporting the impact of our campaigns.

Developing Student Representative Communities

• Support Networks, Academic Associations and Campaign groups on-going growth and development, supporting them to build inclusive, active, and intersectional student-led communities.
• Engage with representatives through coaching, building relationships and providing support as they develop and deliver their campaigning and organising agenda.
• Ensure participation in representation is accessible and inclusive, identifying and removing barriers to engagement particularly for low participation groups.

Leadership Development

• Create and deliver training, guidance and ongoing support for Student Officers, Student Representatives and Academic Associations, equipping students with the knowledge and skills that enable them to thrive in their role and feel empowered to grow as community leaders.
• Build strong and nurturing relationships with student representatives and Academic Association leaders, coordinating effective engagement and regular contact with our members.
• Empower students – particularly those from low participation groups - to become student leaders and participate in KCLSU Elections.

A successful candidate will have:

Qualifications

• A good standard of education, ideally to graduate level or equivalent. (Desirable)

Experience

• Experience of working in a campaigning organisation or as a campaigner
• Experience of mentoring and coaching staff/elected representatives/volunteers
• Experience of working in successful partnerships with a range of stakeholders
• Experience recruiting and supporting volunteers
• Experience of facilitating and delivering training
• Experience/involvement working with a membership organisation (either as an employee, representative or trustee) (Desirable)
• Experience of working with young people/education or similar (Desirable)

Knowledge

• Knowledge of community-building techniques and how to increase participation
• Knowledge of various campaigning and lobbying techniques
• Knowledge of community organising techniques
• Knowledge of current issues affecting the higher education sector
• Understanding of underrepresentation in higher education/voluntary sector and how these groups are affected by structural inequality (Desirable)
• Good understanding of representation systems and practices (Desirable)

We are seeking a skilled, dedicated and experienced financial lead to ensure careful financial management of our organisations, and to oversee our work with a number of partner organisations to which we outsource operational services. 

The Movement for Reform Judaism and Liberal Judaism are separate organisations, which are currently working towards coming together as one charity. The successful candidate will initially be employed by the Movement for Reform Judaism, working closely with Liberal Judaism as a partner organisation. 

A qualified accountant (CIMA, ACA, ACCA), who is a strong multi-tasker, you will have a proven track record of leading a team and working in partnership with colleagues.  This senior role will be responsible for finance and risk for MRJ and LJ, as well as providing accounts, budgets, overseeing audits for 3 other related charities, with an overall combined turnover of £10m.

Using your wealth of experience, excellent financial analysis and management expertise, you be responsible for the timely delivery of management and financial accounts together with the identification and mitigation of risk. You will be both hands-on and will oversee the finance department. 

You will be a key member of the senior team working to bring MRJ and LJ together, responsible for ensuring a smooth and seamless financial transition.  Working closely with colleagues and lay leaders, you will develop and implement key strategies within your area for the newly formed organisation.

You will have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to develop long-lasting working relationships with colleagues, trustees and stakeholders.  You must be confident to participate and present at Board meetings.

Our small, ambitious team works in a collaborative and supportive way. A big focus of the role is prioritisation and planning, so you’ll support the Director of Programmes, Head of Impact & Effectiveness and wider team to prioritise, forward plan, manage diaries and prepare for meetings. You will have responsibility for supporting a Trustee level grant making committee.
