Dreamflight is an independent UK charity that provides amazing holidays for children with a serious illness or disability.

Since 1987 we have taken over 6,500 children on their holiday of a lifetime to Orlando and in recent years have expanded to also offer exciting activity holidays in the UK. The children are accompanied by teams of medical and non-medical volunteers to help encourage independence and confidence and provide lots of fun. Dreamflight needs to raise more than £1m each year to provide such opportunities.

We are looking for an experienced fundraiser who is a highly organised, flexible individual to join this small and friendly team. This is an exciting opportunity to join a charity that punches above its weight and to make a real difference to the lives of deserving young people.

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

To work with the Head of Fundraising & Communications in order to:

· Fully support individuals, Fundraising Groups and organisations who are fundraising for Dreamflight

· Maintain relationships with third party event companies, fundraising platforms etc in order to maximise income

· Grow income over the next five years by actively securing funds from existing and new income streams including individuals, corporates, legacies and Trust/Foundations

· Ensure a varied portfolio of fundraising activities are available, including developing and organising new events

· Represent Dreamflight at community events, to raise funds and awareness (including building new relationships with the small to medium local business community, local groups, societies and faith organisations)

· Ensure all fundraising activities conform to regulations, legal requirements, best practice, organisational policy, branding etc and complete all necessary returns

· Maintain accurate records on all fundraising activity via the Salesforce database

· Report back on a regular basis to the Head of Fundraising and Communications

· Ensure donors and fundraisers are consistently and appropriately thanked

· Complete ad-hoc projects/duties as and when they arise. Dreamflight has a small office team, and all staff members must be flexible regarding duties to be undertaken

£22,885  pa (FTE) - £13,731 (pro rata) to work Weds, Thursday and Friday

At Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice, we care for children and young adults with life-limiting conditions. We support hundreds of families, both in our hospice and in family homes.

Our support services are wide ranging and bespoke to each family; including overnight care, music therapy, counselling, sibling support groups, home visits and much, much more. 

It costs around £6.5m to keep our doors open for families across South Yorkshire and beyond. Statutory funding makes up 16% of this amount and the rest is raised through fundraising activity.

Our services include overnight stays and community breaks at home or in the hospice. We also support the whole family from diagnosis with our multi-disciplinary Family Support team who provide counselling, sibling support groups, music therapy and much more. Our care team supports these families in our modern, purpose-built building. All our rooms/bedrooms have a homely feel. We have a sensory room, spa pool, cinema room and six acres of gardens.

We support families from a large geographical area, including South Yorkshire, North Nottinghamshire, North Derbyshire and parts of North Lincolnshire. The hospice is easily accessible from Barnsley, Rotherham, Doncaster, Sheffield and North Notts. We have free secure on-site parking for families and staff to use. 

 The role:  

We are seeking a Care Administrator to work alongside our Senior Care Administrator, offering clerical support to our nursing and family support teams. The role involves providing administrative support for our Care Leadership Team, maintaining accurate care records, supporting referral and allocation processes and most importantly being a first point of contact for children and families accessing the hospice.

The requirements:

To fulfil the role effectively you will be an organised and caring person, with excellent attention to detail and able to work flexibly and collaboratively across the care services.

You will ideally have experience of working in an environment with children and families who have complex needs but this is not essential.

It has grown organically from telephone counselling and crisis intervention to longer term and culturally specific counselling and relationship work. This role sits within our crisis alternative service, Safe Space, which is an out of hours service providing a safe and welcoming space for people who are feeling distressed and experiencing crisis. The service operates 365 days a year from 12:00 (midday)-11:30pm across all of our boroughs.

• To improve the mental wellbeing of people experiencing mental health crisis in HFEH.
• To provide support to clients accessing the service- for instance: signposting, de-escalation, planned wellbeing activities etc. 
• To contribute to an improvement in individual mental wellbeing.

• To treat service users with respect, dignity and personalised support
• To raise awareness of mental health services available with the goal to improve long term mental health and reduce social isolation
• To increase self-management skills of those accessing the service

Reports to: Head of Marketing and Communications

Overall Purpose of the Job: To work as part of the communications team to plan, implement and optimise communications for our members.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

• Deliver membership communications through our website, email and social media
• Creating and sending out member emails, ensuring that activity is consistent, accurate and timely
•  Creating social media posts across multiple Twitter accounts, as well as LinkedIn, Facebook and Instagram ensuring they are accurate, consistent and timely
• Ensure the communications calendar is maintained and accurate, and work with the communications team to ensure all messaging is appropriately scheduled to ensure maximum engagement and member experience
• Supporting the team in proofreading communications to ensure messaging and standards are consistent
• Monitor and improve email and social media communications through regular reporting and recommending improvements
• Working with wider BSG team to support communication of key projects and initiatives across all channels
•  Make content additions and updates to the website as required
• Understand and use core functionality on the website to a high standard, and play a role in maintaining and improving processes and their documentation
• Work with Head of Communications and Senior Communications Executive to identify areas for improvement and recommending solutions, including proofreading existing work
•  Work with the digital team to create a website usage report and make recommendations for improvements
•  Support the events manager in organisation of BSG events including webinars and face to face events as required
• Work on the BSG stand at the annual conference and do other tasks as may be required

EXPERIENCE

• 2 years experience in a communications or similar role
• Experience using a website CMS and mailing system/CRM.
• Experience using social media scheduling and analytics tools
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English with good attention to detail
• Good working knowledge of GDPR and good data practices
• Ideally some experience using design tools such as Canva
• Competency with Microsoft Office suite
