The Engagement Manager will work with a wide range of B Corps to ensure they are actively participating in collective action, policy activities and opportunities to influence. You will provide a wide range of support to members, ensuring a positive customer journey with every interaction. 

The successful candidate will have a background in customer focused roles with strong relationships management, particularly in a B2B environment. You will have experience of designing customer journeys and be committed to continuous improvement.

Better Cotton makes cotton better for the farmers who produce it and for all those who have a stake in the future of the cotton industry. Today almost a quarter of the world’s cotton is produced under the Better Cotton Standard, and 2.2million cotton farmers have been trained in sustainable farming practices and are licensed to grow Better Cotton. The Coordinator will drive revenue in support of ongoing success and growth of Better Cotton globally. The role will be responsible for growing income from institutional partners, corporates, and philanthropists and will line manage a Fundraising and Partnerships Officer too. In collaboration with the Programme Funding Manager and Director of Development, you will hyper-focus on social impact funding and will work closely with relevant thematic leads and country teams for proposal design, coordination and reporting of funded projects.

The selected candidate will have effective fundraising management and planning skills and excellent writing skills that have resulted in successful proposals. You will have a good understanding of the current donor landscape and fundraising environment – ideally in social impact – and will have good experience in project design with a facilitative approach to meet both farmer needs and donor expectations.

About the Role

Reporting to the Chief Executive and managing a small team of Finance and HR personnel, the Head of Finance & Resources position is broad in scope. The post holder will be responsible for the development and implementation of RHSU strategy relating to finance, people and culture, governance and digital infrastructure. The post holder will ensure the delivery and resourcing of operating plans, policy and operating procedures to ensure that the Union delivers its strategic objectives across its support services. The position sits on the Senior Leadership team and will be expected to play a key role in the delivery of our 3 new strategic enabling themes: People & Culture, Well Governed & Sustainable and Physical & Digital Infrastructure.

Key responsibilities are centred around, but not limited to:

Strategic Management and Leadership – including supporting the delivery of the Union’s strategic plan, leading on financial planning, overseeing compliance and forming part of a strong Leadership Team with other senior colleagues and Sabbatical Officers.

People Management – including leading on the People & Culture plan, leading on recruitment and embedding a learning & development culture at RHSU.

Financial Management – including creating a culture of strong financial literacy, leading on all budgeting & forecasting, financial controls, the annual external audit and having overall responsibility for the accuracy of financial records, including but not limited to the organisation’s VAT returns, payroll & pensions, fixed asset portfolio and funds.

Who we’re looking for

We’re looking for an experienced finance professional who is ideally at least part-qualified ACCA, CIMA or ACA. An excellent understanding of charity finance, regulation and governance is required, along with experience of senior level management and leadership in a similar sized organisation. 

Skills and experience with developing strategic plans, project/change management and leading on digital infrastructure projects would also be very useful experience to succeed in the role. Strong commercial acumen would be beneficial too -against a backdrop of constantly changing commercial considerations and wider Higher Education sector pressures. 

Whilst core finance skills are essential, both at a strategic and operational level – experience in a broader resources role covering HR, IT, governance or compliance would suit this post well. A demonstrable interest and commitment to a values-driven and student-led organisation is also required.

What is the role?

The Account Executive will:

• Research, identify and prospect corporate businesses for new business sales
• Liaise with and provide support to existing clients, grow client prospects, and assist relationship building through active client engagement.
• Provide related events, communications and administrative support.
• Target to bring in is £50,000 - £70,000
• It is a great role for people who want to get into the Charity sector and to use their sales and relationships skills.

About You 

If you are interested in policy and public affairs and are looking to help drive positive change across Whitehall; and would like to work for one of the UK’s best-loved nature charities, then our client have an exciting opportunity for you. They are looking for a supportive, enthusiastic and knowledgeable colleague to be based in their policy and public affairs team to ensure that nature’s recovery and climate action is kept at the heart of the political conversation. 

The post will support the Head of Public Affairs in helping the Trust movement develop relationships with key influencers in Westminster. You will work with policy, campaigning, and communications colleagues to build support for The Trusts’ advocacy priorities and will also have the chance to work with other charities and NGOs, as we develop dynamic and exciting campaigns to address the twin crises of our age – climate change and loss of the natural world. 

You will have an understanding of the legislative process and parliamentary procedures and will have the ability to communicate detailed policies in a compelling and persuasive way. Experience of and a proven track record of working with politicians and civil servants is advantageous, as is experience of supporting successful advocacy campaigns and fronting policies and programmes.

As a Senior Engagement and Events Manager, you will:

• Deliver on day to day basis a programme of brilliantly executed opportunities, included both virtual and physical events
• Lead on and be first point of contact for Core Events across the School.
• Deliver donor and supporter care event programme
• Lead on day to day volunteer management
• Support in the delivery of a new and innovative global network for the community.
• Line manage of Engagement and Events Manager and interns

In order to be successful, you must have experienced :

• A track record of delivering highly sophisticated events and communications programmes
• Experience working in development/ alumni relations or equivalent profession
• Experience in managing budgets
• Experience of donor care management
• Experience of volunteer management; committees, project teams or similar
• Hardworking, driven and flexible and good at dealing with a multi faceted workload.
• An enthusiastic and positive attitude.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
• Highly accomplished in the area of inter personal skills with a proven track record of building trusted relationships with a wide variety of individuals including sophisticated and diverse alumni, parents, benefactors and potential benefactors of all ages and nationalities.
• Knowledge of working with a sophisticated CRM database preferably Raiser’s Edge.
• Strong IT skills: highly proficient with Microsoft Office.

Salary: £40,000 per annum

Location: South London, hybrid working , 1 day from home during school time, 2 days from home during half terms.
