Independent Age is the national charity focused on improving the lives of people facing financial hardship in later life. We believe no one should face financial hardship in later life. Our Helpline and expert advisers offer free, practical support to older people without enough money to live on. Through our grants programme, we support hundreds of local organisations working with older people across the UK.

Responsibilities and Person Specification:

The Team Administrator supports our in-house Studio team with the administration and delivery of our content through the design, print and digital processes.

You will have excellent administrative, communication and organisational skills. You will have the ability to work under pressure to prioritise, deliver, manage, and coordinate several projects and activities simultaneously to tight timescales. You should also understand design and production best practice, processes and techniques across both online and offline formats.

The Arboretum is looking for an experienced Gardener to join an established Grounds Team to assist in the continued maintenance, conservation, and development of the 150-acre site.

The Arboretum is the UK’s year-round centre of Remembrance and part of the Royal British Legion.

As a Gardener, you will carry out and deliver maintenance, conservation and development works of the National Memorial Arboretum, ensuring its trees, gardens, grounds, and flora are befitting of its status as the nation’s year-round centre of Remembrance.
Reporting to the Grounds and Landscape Supervisor, your key responsibilities include maintaining and managing all horticultural areas to the highest standard throughout the year. You will perform various gardening tasks such as pruning, mowing, planting, and weeding, and operate both handheld and ride-on machinery for grounds maintenance. Additionally, you will support volunteers with horticultural projects and maintenance, including participation in the NMA’s working weekend. Your role will also involve assisting with the documentation of horticultural activities through written and photographic records. Upholding high standards of horticultural and arboricultural care at all times is essential, as is ensuring compliance with Health and Safety regulations.

This role is designed to meet the debt advice needs of Oxford residents. The post holder will provide debt advice including benefit checks, ways to raise income and reduce overheads. Advice will be given by telephone/email, by appointment in person at our office, and to drop in clients at outreaches.

Role purpose: to provide an effective and efficient debt advice service to local residents within the aims, policies and principles of the CA service.   

Key responsibilities:

• Interview clients using sensitive listening and questioning skills in order to allow clients to explain their problem(s) and empower them to set their own priorities.
• Use the Citizens Advice Information System to find, interpret and communicate the relevant information.
• Research and explore options and implications so that clients can make informed decisions.
• Act for the client where necessary by negotiating, drafting or writing letters and telephoning.
• Liaise and negotiate with other statutory and voluntary organisations to progress the client’s case and ensure they receive all assistance available. 
• Signpost and refer internally and externally as appropriate in order to link clients into additional relevant support .

• Maintain detailed case records for the purpose of continuity of casework, information retrieval, statistical monitoring and report preparation.

We're looking for:

• Experience of advice work in debt and benefits. Ideally also experience in a wider range of areas - for example, housing, employment, consumer and immigration.
• Ability to work sensitively with a diverse range of clients
• An understanding of the issues involved in interviewing clients, particularly those who may be experiencing stress and anxiety.
• An ordered approach to your work and an ability to follow set procedures concerning casework and file management etc
• Ability to use IT in the provision of advice and the preparation of reports and submissions. 
• Good oral communication skills with particular emphasis on negotiation and representation skills on the telephone.

If so, St Giles Trust is looking for a collaborative Financial Wellbeing Coach to join our team, where you will be responsible for the delivery of Finance, Benefit and Debt services to referrals made by Wales Probation Service.

About St Giles Trust

About this key role

As our Financial Wellbeing Coach, you will provide person-centred support to a caseload of service users who will either be serving community sentences or have been released from prison.  This will involve undertaking assessment and action planning with individual service users and creating a safe and trusting environment, using trauma-informed practice to successfully facilitate a supportive and constructive relationship with service users. 

We will also count on you to deliver a range of interventions to service users which contribute towards the achievement of prescribed outcomes, including group work sessions, and to work with service users flexibly, meeting and undertaking interventions in a range of locations across a wide geographical area.  Developing and maintaining positive working relationships with external agencies and working towards contractual targets and outcomes within agreed timescales and in line with specified quality standards are also vital aspects of the role.

What we are looking for

• Experience of engaging successfully with challenging people, e.g., those with complex and multiple needs

• Proven record of working with partner agencies

• Evidence of training at specialist level in money and/or welfare benefits advice 

• Higher level certificate in money and/or welfare benefit advice from accreditation 

• The ability to assess clients’ needs and provide tailored, client-led support 

• Able to work sensitively with clients applying trauma informed strategies

• Welsh Language and a full driver’s licence and access to a vehicle is desirable.

As a Community Engagement Officer, you will be passionate about supporting disadvantaged and vulnerable people, with the ability to work with culturally diverse communities and groups. About this exciting opportunity

This multi-faceted role will see our successful candidate support the Management Team with recruitment campaigns and the central HR colleagues with our safer recruitment processes. You will also help to coordinate new starter training and provide administrative support to the Management Team in ensuring employee risk assessments are carried out annually and recorded appropriately. 

We will count on you to ensure invoices, expenses and all contracts are submitted to finance in a timely manner and act as the point of contact for all local finance-related queries, while you will also fulfil a broad range of GDPR duties, such as developing, administering and coordinating the local data protection database and monitoring and reviewing new project set ups. Being the point of contact for landlords, external building managers and internal Support Services colleagues to ensure the needs of the team are meet in terms of office-based requirements and coordinating our local compliance with health and safety requirements are also key duties.

About The Role
We’re looking for a Supply Chain and Administration Planner to join our team at the Royal British Legion, helping keep things running smoothly in our warehouse. In this role, you’ll be managing stock levels, processing purchase orders, and making sure goods are moving in and out of the warehouse efficiently. You’ll also work closely with the Warehouse Supervisor to support daily tasks and help plan in-house stock production.

A big part of the job is making sure the warehouse technology is up to date and works well with our processes. You’ll be responsible for things like warehouse mapping, tracking key performance metrics, and generating reports to help with decision-making. You’ll also be the go-to person for our Delta Warehouse Management System, helping users with any issues and making sure everyone has the right access. Accuracy is key, especially when it comes to keeping stock records and making sure deliveries are logged properly.

The Role 

We have a fantastic opportunity for someone to join us in the position of Research and Policy Officer to work on a full-time basis, 37 hours per week; alternatively, we will consider part-time hours on a Job Share basis. The role is hybrid and based in Newcastle upon Tyne or within a commutable distance to our national Headquarters in the city. 

A part of NEA’s Policy and Advocacy Directorate, you will work within our highly effective social research team as we focus on a decade of delivery that will ensure those on the lowest incomes and living in the least efficient homes receive the support needed to ensure their health and wellbeing are protected, but also one that guarantees a fair energy future for all.

The successful candidate will work and collaborate on the design, development and delivery of social research and evaluation projects that support the charity’s strategic aims and policy advocacy priorities. As well as undertaking mixed methods social research that foregrounds the lived experience of households, they will develop research-user and stakeholder relationships and integrate evidence-based insights from across the charity’s work programmes to influence and have impact across multiple areas of social policy and practice.

What you will need to succeed 

You will have demonstrable and applied experience in a social research role and hold a degree in a social science or related subject that included social research methods. A compelling communicator you will be able to produce well-structured reports, and have excellent interpersonal skills, including experience of leading one-to-one and group interviews.

You will also have proven experience of analysis software, SPSS and Nvivo (or similar), and competent in the use of Microsoft Office Suite/365 applications. 

You will be able to demonstrate an understanding of NEA’s mission to eradicate fuel poverty.
