To support growth, The Bus Shelter Dorset is looking to add two new Trustees to their welcoming and inclusive Board.
What will you be doing?
The Bus Shelter Dorset was established in December 2016, gaining charity status from March 2017. We believe that everyone has the right to a safe, warm place to call home, where they can receive non-judgmental, unconditional support and guidance to address their challenges. When ready, they can transition to semi-independent living and, ultimately, to independent living and employment.
We are looking for individuals who have a strong empathy with our mission. We welcome applications from candidates with knowledge and background in the following areas: Legal OR Marketing/Media
Principal Duties
Each Trustee should work with other Trustees and senior staff to:
· Establish and promote The Bus Shelter’s vision, principles, strategic aims and objectives
· Ensure that policies, operations and priorities are in keeping with the aims of The Bus Shelter
· Monitor and review The Bus Shelter’s performance against the strategic aims and ensure that all activities fall within the Charity’s stated objects
· Monitor and assess performance for The Bus Shelter’s key activities, and the long-term outcomes and impact of Guests involvement with The Bus Shelter.
· Ensure The Bus Shelter functions within the legal and regulatory framework of UK charity law and strives to achieve best practice in governance.
· Ensure the effective and efficient administration of The Bus Shelter in particular the performance of the CEO Ensure the financial stability of The Bus Shelter.

What are we looking for?
We would like Trustees to have the following experience:
· Experience of working to at least a management level OR significant experience in a relevant related discipline.
· Able to demonstrate critical appraisal skills.
· Experience in problem-solving and planning to resolve organisational challenges.
· Able to apply professional skills to the challenges The Bus Shelter Dorset will face both currently and in the future.
· Ability to contribute to the strategic planning and objectives of The Bus Shelter Dorset.
· Understanding of risk management.

As a Trustee, you will play a key role in setting the mission and direction of the organisation, ensuring its continuing success and sustainability.
Time commitment
Attendance of Trustee Board meetings. These are held quarterly with attendance in person (with the capacity of attending online should that not be possible). Meetings currently start at 3.00 pm, but this is open to discussion.
Taking into account the time to read board papers, prepare and attend meetings the expected time commitment is 4 hours quarterly. Additionally, there is an annual Trustee away day which is approximately half a day.
