Job description

Lead Volunteer- this would ideally be an average of six hours per week to commit to, although there is flexibility and more hours would be welcome. We are very happy to discuss this. This role will primarily be based at Blossom Barns, and support the development of Bethphage's new day opportunities for adults with learning disabilities and/or Autism.

 

You will be directed and supported by the Manager and Team Leader, to plan and promote volunteer days to work to specific projects. You will oversee and support a team  of ad-hoc and regular volunteers with various projects on the farm.

You will be required to adapt to different individuals communication needs, have an open and positive communication style, along with a friendly and professional approach.

You will need to ensure relevant risk assessments are adhered to and people are working safely on the site. Some documentation may be required , so general IT skills and good written communication are important.

 

This role will require the completion of some essential training to support the work and it will require a DBS (paid by Bethphage). You will have access to supervisions and support as part of your role.

Essential Requirements:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to adapt communication style to different communication needs
  • Flexibility and punctuality
  • Organisational skills
  • Professional and friendly personality
  • A background of working in a similar role would be ideal, but not necessary
  • Willing to complete a DBS
  • Good knowledge of health & safety

 

Desirable Requirements;

  • Practical skills 
  • Gardening/horticultural experience
  • IT skills
