The Triage Worker sits within the Triage Team in the pilot area, working alongside the Triage IDVA. Respect is a pioneering UK domestic abuse charity, leading the development of safe, effective work with perpetrators, with young people who are abusive and with male victims. Respect supports frontline organisations across the UK, so that together we can end domestic abuse. Respect has seen rapid growth over the last few years, and we now have 50+ staff and have ambitious plans for further growth and influence. This role is based within the Drive Partnership and is part of the pilot for the roll out of the positive requirement element of the DAPO’s.

Finance Officer

Leicester Cathedral is looking to appoint to the role Finance Officer.

Based in the Cathedral Offices at St Martins House, the Finance Officer works as part of a small team looking after the day-to-day accounting requirements of the Cathedral but supports the senior team with its strategic aims. About the role

We are looking to recruit a permanent multi-skilled advocate to join our busy Halton Advocacy HUB multi-disciplinary team, working 22.5 hours per week.

Based in Halton, for this exciting multi-disciplinary role, we are looking for those with a particular interest in Non-Statutory Advocacy as the role will be based in a secure unit for up to two days a week. This role involves providing general advocacy support to patients in supporting form filling, sourcing general information, signposting and general low-level concerns and safeguarding issues around their care not covered by the IMHA role.  The role also covers the NHS Complaints Advocacy in our Warrington HUB (or Halton Hub when required), helping people who need support in making a complaint about their care and treatment under the NHS.

We also require a talented person to undertake the role of the RPR to support individuals detained under the Mental capacity Act on a DoLS when needed.

What we need from you

We are looking for someone who has the creativity and enthusiasm to support people in difficult circumstances, ideally has experience in a health or social care and may have their own life experiences relevant to the role. Although it would be useful to already hold a formal advocacy qualification, if you have not got advocacy qualifications it is not a problem, we will provide the required training.

You will be working from a secure mental health unit for up to two days a week and then the rest of the week will either be working from home so must have access to a stable home broadband service. There will also be an element of the role where you will be out in the community, but not exclusively, in Warrington, Halton, Widnes and Runcorn areas and therefore you must have access to your own transport.

There may be times when work is required outside normal working hours, so flexibility is required.

Operations

On-site at Glass Door Night shelter venues in the boroughs of Kensington & Chelsea, Hammersmith and Fulham or Wandsworth

20 October 2024 to late April 2025 

Shifts from 6:45pm or 9:45pm to 7.15am (plus additional time if allocated driver). Hours and days of work will vary according to the needs of the service.

We are looking to recruit exceptional individuals with an open, collaborative style and a practical, can-do approach to provide a vital nightly service for our guests as Overnight Project Workers.

Some of our Overnight Project Workers are required to have a driving licence and be able to drive a manual vehicle.

The Overnight Project Worker is responsible for the following:

• Maintaining a friendly, supportive environment and cultivating positive relationships with guests, colleagues, and volunteers.
• Following best practice procedures for the security and safety of the guests and volunteers.
• Diffusing difficult or dangerous situations and summon assistance when necessary. Training will be provided. Writing regular shift reports using the In-Form client relationship platform.

• Ensuring that the van is loaded correctly with shelter provisions and that no Glass Door belongings are left on site.
• Adhering to Glass Door’s operational and health & safety policies in all aspects of your work. Maintaining clear lines of communication with your colleagues including the Night Shelter Manager, Caseworkers, and the Operations Manager.
• Ensuring cleaning protocols are followed and implemented.
• Undertaking any other duties to aid the good running of the project, as required by the Shelter Manager or Operations Manager.
• Accurately reporting observations, interactions, concerns and actions with guests to their caseworker using written reports.
• Setting up and help serve a simple breakfast for guests in the morning
• Ensuring all guests are woken from 6am onwards and leave the building by 7am
• Flexibility is required, as you will be working a shift rota that includes weekends and public holidays.

On occasions you will also be expected to attend training, team meetings and other activities as required. The allocated driver is expected to drive the van back to its allocated base at the end of the shift to which an additional hour of pay applies for this task.

What's on offer:

• Welcoming and inducting new guests into the shelter by explaining the shelter policies.
• Supporting volunteer teams at each venue to ensure the smooth running of the project and developing good communication with the Volunteer Co-ordinators.
• Diffusing difficult or dangerous situations and summon assistance when necessary. Training will be provided.
• Ensuring cleaning protocols are implemented by all staff, guests and volunteers.
• Maintaining guest attendance records and shift reports on our iPad-based In-From client relationship platform.
• Following best practice procedures for the security and safety of the guests and volunteers.
• Monitoring guest welfare throughout the shift and responding to any situations or emergencies that arise. Adhering to Glass Door’s operational and health & safety policies in all aspects of your work.
• Maintaining clear lines of communication with your colleagues including Overnight Project Workers, Caseworkers and Operations Manager.
• Conducting a nightly briefing for volunteers and staff before the shelter opens to guests.
• Undertaking any other duties to aid the good running of the project, as required by the Operations Manager. Attending regular meetings with caseworkers to share any relevant information including guest welfare, interactions and other important information.
• Attending 1 to 1 sessions with the Operations Manager on a fortnightly basis.
• Attending the monthly winter services meetings held on Wednesday afternoons
• Accurately reporting observations, interactions, concerns and actions with guests to their caseworker using written reports.
• Ensuring the shelter van is kept well organised and stocks are well maintained.
• Supporting casework team with practical tasks related to guests’ day-to-day activities as requested.
• Flexibility is required, as you will be working a shift rota that includes weekends and public holidays
• You will also be expected to attend other training sessions, team meetings and other activities as required.

Essential

•  Valid driver’s license and willingness to drive the shelter van.
•  Commitment to providing an excellent service and to interact with shelter guests in a positive and respectful manner.
•  An understanding of the needs of people experiencing homelessness and working in a compassionate and flexible manner.
•  Ability to work as part of a team and be a supportive team member.  Confidence in dealing with challenging behaviour.
•  Excellent written and verbal communications skills.  Ability to carry out manual handling tasks.
•  Understanding of and commitment to Equal Opportunities.

Desirable

• Experience working within the homelessness sector or with similarly vulnerable people.
• Ability to speak additional languages including but not limited to Polish, Romanian, Arabic, Spanish, French, Bulgarian, Russian or Tigrinya.
• Lived experience of homelessness.
• An understanding and value of trauma informed care.
• Relevant training certificates (First aid, health & safety, fire Safety, conflict de-escalation).

We Are Survivors are currently looking for an individual that has the passion, drive and determination to help us deliver our OUT Spoken Talking Therapy Services in our Greater Manchester and Merseyside estates (on a part-time basis) – As we continue to provide services in prisons across the Northwest.

For nearly 16 years, We Are Survivors has provided survivor-focused therapeutic and advocacy support to male (including Trans and Non-binary) victims/survivors of sexual abuse, rape, and sexual exploitation. We have developed a three-tiered approach to services and underpin everything we do with a ‘trauma and recovery’ framework pioneered by Dr Judith Herman.

We are currently commissioned to deliver trauma-informed therapy services in 15 prisons across the Northwest of England and are looking for motivated and skilled practitioners to work in a fascinating, vital, and sometimes challenging environment.

Believe you are right for this role?

You will be a qualified counsellor / psychotherapist who holds at least a Diploma in Counselling / Psychotherapy or equivalent and be registered with BACP or equivalent (preferably an accredited member). You will understand issues relating to trauma, be able to work as part of a team and feel confident working in a prison setting.

In return for your time, experience, and commitment to the organisation, you will receive an annual salary of £27,810; 25 days annual leave (increasing annually by 1 day to max of 30 days) plus bank holidays; birthday leave; company sick pay; monthly clinical supervision; pension contribution; a range of training opportunities; and access to different benefit schemes.

Note: salary and annual leave is based on WTE. We may also consider the opportunity to job share.
