The Philanthropy Manager is a key member of the Philanthropy & Partner Engagement Department  which sits within War Child’s award-winning Fundraising team. War Child is growing, and the Philanthropy Manager will support the development of the Major Donor Function at War Child to retain and increase our income from major donors so that we can reach more children in the worst conflict affected countries.

Your Role

The Philanthropy Manager role is crucial in helping raise funds to enable our rapid growth and the expansion of our impact. Reporting to the Philanthropy Lead, you will be responsible for developing an excellent stewardship programme which grows unrestricted and restricted income and nurtures relationships with War Child’s existing major donors. You will use excellent communication skills to write compelling and tailored proposals to increase our reach.

As an integral member of the Philanthropy and Partner Engagement Department, you will bring creativity, insight and experience to the team, as well as being a key voice and representative internally and externally. You will contribute to the wider Fundraising & Communications strategy by taking a lead role in cross-team projects and activities.

Your Responsibilities 

• Systematically identify, qualify, and strategise a pipeline for up to six figure gifts for both unrestricted and restricted giving
• Lead on building an excellent stewardship programme, supporting relationship managers across the team to deliver sector leading supporter journeys
• Develop and implement strong cultivation and solicitation plans for existing donors to generate significant income from the portfolio. This will include personal meetings, attending networking events, writing proposals/reports and making presentations
• Take an active role, and lead where relevant, on the planning and delivery of a diverse portfolio of philanthropy events, including events that are hosted by Ambassadors
• Support on the development of new fundraising products which drive the stewardship programme and the retention of major donors
• Actively participate in regular department, team or working group meetings, contributing to strategy discussion and decisions that will be beneficial to the development of fundraising activities
• Record all communications with major donors on War Child’s database, Salesforce, ensuring donor information is kept up to date and properly secured at all times.
• Monitor income and expenditure targets and provide regular progress reports and updates on performance against target using War Child’s database
• Take an active role, and lead where relevant, in cross-team working groups to provide insight, advice and gain opportunities for the Philanthropy & Partnerships team
• Maintain an up to date knowledge of current activities of War Child and be an advocate of the War Child brand at all times
• Contribute to creating a culture committed to the safeguarding of children and adults and compliant to WCUK’s Child Safeguarding and Adults at Risk Policies.

You Are

• Experienced in a similar fundraising role, with a specialist knowledge of major donor fundraising, ideally within an international development or humanitarian NGO
• Able to work independently to develop and implement fundraising strategies with a proven track record of securing five-figure gifts and delivering against targets
• A relationship manager with strong networking skills at senior levels internally and externally
• Experienced in stewardship strategies for major donors or the development of supporter journeys in order to retain donors
• Excellent skills in presenting information, verbally and in writing, including briefings and project reports to a range of audiences in a clear and confident manner
• Able to understand international development including War Child’s vision, mission and values and present War Child’s work with authority
• Organised and able to plan and prioritise to meet multiple deadlines
• Able to demonstrate experience of successfully planning and delivering events.
• Up to date in your knowledge of fundraising regulation, compliance and GDPR, and its implications for fundraising policy and practise.
• Experienced in database management, ideally Salesforce

We do appreciate that fundraising across radio is very niche and so are welcoming applications from candidates who have fundraising experience which has crossed over into media. Perhaps running large campaigns which have involved media interviews, PR projects etc.

St Barnabas House, Martlets and Chestnut Tree House are seeking a Community Engagement Assistant to join the Community Engagement team.  This newly created role will provide vital support to our Events Fundraisers and Community Fundraisers enabling them to go above and beyond for our incredible supporters who go out of their way to raise crucial funds for adult and children’s hospice care in Sussex and beyond.

This role offers flexibility in location, with hybrid working and offices in both Brighton and Worthing.  There will be some travel required between sites.  Whilst this role is advertised at 37.5 hours per week, part-time hours (minimum 4 days a week) will be considered.

We're looking for a creative, innovative and enthusiastic individual who can help us to shape and grow Lancashire Mind’s fundraising activities.

Lancashire Mind is a local charity working to prevent poor mental health. We support people experiencing common mental health conditions, such as anxiety and depression. We work with children and adults, offering universal services to help people improve their mental wellbeing, along with targeted services for people and communities at increased risk of experiencing poor mental health or facing mental health inequalities. About this role

This new role, funded by the National Lottery Community Fund, is an exciting opportunity to join our team who have been supporting adults with learning disabilities for almost 40 years. As we look to the future, we need to consider new opportunities to build partnerships and collaborations to build a strong, resilient network of third-sector organisations in Swindon and the surrounding area.

Main responsibilities

• Work with the trustees, staff, volunteers and members to develop and deliver against a Strategic Business Plan.

• To act as the lead relationship manager with partners on behalf of The Open Door Centre.

• Take responsibility for diversifying fundraising, grants and income streams in line with the strategy and business development plan, be proactive in developing new leads and connections.
• Explore and develop joint grant bids by liaising with external partners to support grant applications that align with our strategic aims.
• Develop, monitor and maintain key systems and processes, such as effective funder reporting and review meetings, and monitoring and reporting on fundraising KPIs.

Skills, competencies and experience

1. Skills and experience in third sector fundraising, preferably including corporate fundraising, funder reporting and grants and confidence in identifying and developing new opportunities.
2. A demonstrable proactive approach to engaging with new and existing funders to set up and develop lasting relationships.
3. Ability to prepare high-quality funding proposals/grant applications and reports, adapting the communication style for different audiences and stakeholders to maximise impact.
4. A skilled communicator (verbal and written) who can gather information and enthuse individuals both internally and externally.
5. The ability to effectively manage multiple and competing priorities to meet deadlines.
6. Excellent organisational skills with firm understanding of KPIs, targets, budgeting, and risk mitigation plans.

8. IT literate with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, the internet and social media.

Other information

This post will be a hybrid role with some time spent in the Centre in Gorse Hill, Swindon, some remote work, and attendance at meetings and events in the Swindon area - this could include evenings and weekends.

What the job involves

We're looking for a Proposition Development Manager to join a newly created team within our Fundraising directorate. The team have been created to work alongside the high value teams (Philanthropy and Partnerships) to provide them with the highest quality donor research, funding propositions and stewardship materials required to create transformative partnerships with businesses, high net worth individuals, trusts and foundations. 

As the Proposition Development Manager, you’ll play a pivotal role in this team, supporting our ambitious high value fundraising strategy and the development of Prostate Cancer UK’s first Major Appeal. You'll take the lead in developing the Appeal case for support, and crafting funding propositions. Collaborating closely with our high-value fundraisers, you'll develop bespoke funding propositions ranging from six to seven figures, ensuring they resonate with potential donors. 

Your expertise will be central in guiding our high-value teams on creating impactful funding proposals, supported by consistent access to organisational priorities and plans. You'll also establish an 'Information Bank' of materials to support fundraising efforts. Ensuring compliance with data protection regulations, you'll maintain the integrity of our data records in alignment with GDPR and organisational policies.

What we want from you

We’re looking for a fundraiser who understands high value fundraising. You’ll have experience in building compelling cases for support, bids and partnership concepts with major donors, companies, and potentially grant funders. Working in collaboration with our high value fundraisers, Research and Support and Influencing teams to create engaging and bespoke propositions. 

You’ll be an excellent communicator, often translating complex and technical information to a range of audiences and stakeholders in multiple formats (e.g. proposals, presentations or web copy). Your exceptional relationship-building, influencing, and negotiation skills will enable you to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels.

About the role:

When someone sustains a spinal cord injury, it is a life changing experience.

The Community Fundraising Assistant is fundamental administrative role that supports the Community Fundraising Team in the successful engagement of new and existing supporters. The role consists of a variety of key tasks including; arranging KSS attendance at community events, overseeing the placement and emptying of collection boxes and assisting the Community Fundraisers with the booking of talks to community organisations, groups and schools across our region. The role will also have input into activities such as supporting with fundraising campaigns, maximising income and increasing awareness of KSS in the community.

The post-holder will demonstrate a wide range of administrative skills including good written and verbal communication skills and will be able to establish and maintain good working relationships with a diverse range of individuals including our volunteers. Being organised, adaptable and able to juggle multiple priorities to meet deadlines is key. Although the individual will need to work independently at times, the post-holder should also be flexible, supportive, and able to work collaboratively within a busy team. Providing excellent customer service and support is essential, with previous charity fundraising experience desirable.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Provide day-to-day management of KSS activities relating to talks and presentations as well as event attendance within the local community, acting as a key internal and external point of contact.
- Carry out administration regarding talks, presentations, events and collections attended by the charity, including creating and updating relevant records on the charity database.
- Contribute to the delivery of the Community Teams objectives, with the oversight of key office-based volunteer activity in order to support on projects and weekly administrative tasks.
- Act as a key liaison within the Community Team, ensuring that Community Fundraisers and Community Fundraising Manager are supported as required.
- Explore and propose opportunities for KSS to raise awareness and grow its brand awareness and income, in line with KSS strategy.
- Source volunteers to attend talks, community events and store collections, guiding new volunteers through the process of becoming a speaker for KSS by organising shadowing and ensuring they have all the necessary information and equipment. Liaise with groups and volunteers to ensure that talks and cheque presentations go ahead smoothly.
- Provide excellent stewardship and customer service by responding to all communications in a timely and professional manner, ensuring that the system is updated without delay and that relevant stakeholders are informed as required.
- Understand and keep up to date on all relevant fundraising regulations and best practice guidelines – as set out by KSS’s internal processes, policies and procedures and ensure that these are adhered to in all practices.
- Work closely with colleagues in Marketing and Communications to ensure consistency of the charity’s brand and message within community fundraising activities.
- Oversee the management of our static collection boxes, working alongside our volunteer collection box agents, to ensure this income revenue is maintained and developed.

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to join our friendly team and use your fundraising experience to make a real difference to the lives of vulnerable children and families. As Head of Fundraising, you will lead a team of two fundraisers to develop relationships and generate income from charitable trusts, statutory sources, individuals, schools and parishes.

This is a diverse and rewarding role where you can work closely with our project teams and see the direct impact of your efforts. The fundraising team is also actively involved in service delivery and this role will be instrumental in helping to distribute gifts and food to hundreds of disadvantaged families at Christmas, as well as helping families in crisis via our Crisis Funds.

You will also play an important role in the senior management team, helping to shape the charity’s overall strategic direction and ensure that many more disadvantaged children and families can access the support they need and have hope of a better future.

What we are looking for

We are looking for someone with at least four years’ fundraising experience who is keen to use their skills to help CCS grow our income. A proactive and flexible approach is also a must! The successful candidate will:

• Have a proven track record of securing income in excess of £300,000 p.a.
• Have experience of managing a team
• Be an effective communicator
• Have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to develop strong working relationships with colleagues and supporters.

As the new Community and Events Fundraising Manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing The Passage's Community Fundraising strategy, designed to inspire and engage both existing and new supporters, ultimately building a stable and sustainable income pipeline.

Main duties

• Help deliver the teams’ existing events and community fundraising products, growing net income and actively seeking new opportunities for expansion.
• Act as an ambassador for The Passage with community groups, personally delivering talks and presentations to build relationships and promote our work.
• Manage and oversee a programme of station and street collections, ensuring that volunteers are trained and equipped to represent The Passage with the public.
• Manage current community and events fundraising relationships with individual supporters and groups by providing outstanding, tailored stewardship to generate income.

• Produce and manage the Community Fundraising income and expenditure annual plan and budget.

Desired experience

• Developing and implementing community fundraising plans and activities and a proven track record in growing income.

• Direct experience of working with community groups or local organisations such as schools, churches and universities, generating new leads and managing partnerships.

Back Up’s Regional Outreach and Engagement team are the very face of the organisation and are based across the UK, working directly with spinal cord injury centres, major trauma centres and hospitals – or indeed anywhere that people affected by spinal cord injury may be.
