We're looking for two proactive & passionate individuals to join our Housing Advice team to deliver an effective housing advice and advocacy service to young people accessing our day centre.

You will be working within our Housing team to deliver an effective advice service for young people. Lead work on providing an information service for Healthwatch Camden, helping to ensure that it is readily accessible and can effectively direct people to the support or advice they need to access services or make choices about services.

Conditions of service (summary)

As a Supported Housing Manager, you will be responsible for the daily operations, providing a high quality, safe, welcoming and secure supported housing accommodation for young people at risk whilst leading and developing the team. Every year in the UK, around 100 children are diagnosed with neuroblastoma, a rare and aggressive cancer that mostly affects children under five. Neuroblastoma UK is a small national charity dedicated to finding a cure for this life-threatening disease - and is seeking a talented Senior Fundraising Officer to help us raise vital funds. 

For 40 years, we’ve funded leading research to develop new, more effective and kinder treatments for children with neuroblastoma. The role

The Senior Fundraising Officer is responsible for managing our portfolio of events and liaising with our community fundraisers to maximise their fundraising, as well as managing our individual supporters and managing fundraising admin across multiple areas. CAFOD is seeking a Governance Manager to temporarily support our Leadership & Governance team. Reporting directly to CAFOD’s Director and managing the Leadership & Governance Officer, you will play a critical role in ensuring effective governance, strategic leadership, and strong Trustee relations during this interim period. Key Responsibilities

During the period of cover, some of the key responsibilities include:  

Governance & Strategic Leadership 

• Providing oversight of CAFOD’s Governance work & assisting in the further development and funding of CAFOD’s governance.

This pivotal role will address a significant gap in the protection and welfare of animals used in entertainment and media. Tens of thousands of animals are featured in films, television shows, advertisements, often facing substandard treatment and welfare conditions. Despite public concern, current legal and industry safeguards remain inadequate.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Support the daily functions of the London HQ Workspace

•           Creation and Issuing of ID Badges, Access Fob and Locker allocation and inventory.

• Arranging new starter inductions and material

• Report issues that may require assistance from the building management and Security teams.

• Reception duties

• Liaising with key Workplace suppliers

• Answering, screening, and forwarding phone calls.

• Meeting and greeting visitors (internal and external)

• Booking meeting rooms / desks, arranging catering, and setting up meeting space.

• Arranging couriers and handling deliveries

• Keeping the reception area tidy and functional.

• Keeping Kitchen and break area tidy

akt is the UK’s national LGBTQ Youth Homelessness charity. We provide safe homes, mentoring, and support to ensure that no young person needs to choose between a safe home and being who they are. 24% of young people facing homelessness in the UK identify as LGBT (National Scoping of LGBT Youth Homelessness, akt, 2015) and 78% of LGBTQ+ young people cited an absence of family support (The LGBTQ+ Youth Homelessness Report, akt, 2021). The charity was founded in 1989 and operates service centres in London, Manchester, Newcastle, Bristol and works online through a Digital Service to offer support to young people outside of our four office regions. akt works with over 800 vulnerable young people a year providing both face to face and online assistance.

The Team 

This role sits within akt as part of the Digital team and is supervised by the Senior Services Manager.

Job Summary 

Please note there is one job available that can be based at any of our office locations in London, Manchester, Newcastle or Bristol.

• Support, develop and supervise staff, students and volunteers building a strong and dynamic team culture, and ensure the Team understands, recognises, and meets the needs and expectations of akt’s service users.
• To work as part of the Services Management team and wider akt Management team, attend relevant meetings and complete actionable tasks.
• Be accountable for the budget relating to Digital Services.
• Take responsibility for the management of specific projects relating to service delivery. 
• Lead on the continued development of live chat ensuring akt takes advantage of technological advantages that are relevant. 
• Alongside the Senior Services Manager ensure our digital offer meets all the current and potential needs of young people. 
• Manage team to assess the needs of young LGBTQ+ people who are homeless, vulnerably housed, or in a hostile environment, and to carry out signposting and brief intervention.
• Manage and support team to support young people through casework including managing risk, case file reviews, and support around housing pathways and options.
• Maintain and deliver the performance management reports and quarterly data scrutiny for Digital Services and participate in Services Committees to offer feedback on local performance as required.
• Develop tools that monitor the impact of the digital work for those accessing the service.
• Offer support to volunteers around digital engagement including live chat. 
• Alongside Marketing and Communications and other Services Managers, create and maintain digital resources and signposting to allow akt to engage with young people needs and signpost appropriately.

The role is permanent contracted 20 hours per week however the likelihood of overtime is very likely due to the busyness of the service.

We are ideally looking for someone with advocacy experience however are open to people with family or mental health experience.

The head office is based in Islington however the court proceedings mean frequent travel.
