The Duty Worker will be working closely with survivors of domestic abuse and other VAWG (violence against women and girls) to provide high quality independent support to survivors at all risk levels and their children. The post holder will play a crucial role in the service delivery, being the first point of contact for survivors who are referred to the Gaia Centre by contacting the survivors, assessing their needs and risks, carrying out and implementing safety plans and needs and will ensure an effective handover to the relevant GAIA team for ongoing support or referring to another appropriate agency for support.

The duty worker will also empower survivors by providing them with emotional, practical, and personal welfare support. You will ensure that survivors are provided with a safe, supportive environment, enabling them to access their rights, make decisions and increase their life options.

The job involves working within a multi-agency framework consisting of the MARAC and local partnership protocols and procedures that prioritise the safety of survivors. The job involves informing survivors of the full range of civil, criminal and practical options that might increase their safety.

Grants Manager

We are seeking a proactive and detailed Grants Manager to support our development team on the journey to further Cardboard Citizens’ ambitions as a dynamic, flexible and forward-thinking social justice charity and theatre company, working with people who have experience of homelessness and poverty or inequity.

Our organisation secures over £1m in voluntary funding each year and our Grants Manager will play a vital role in securing and growing the broad range of voluntary support which allows to make exceptional art for social change. You will manage a rich portfolio of existing funder relationships across Trusts & Foundations, Corporate and Statutory income streams, in addition to researching and writing applications for new funding and working closely with the Delivery team on impact monitoring and reporting. 1. A 2:1 or 1st class honours degree in a subject area relevant to our work. A postgraduate qualification would be an advantage.
2. A minimum of five years’ work experience in a communications role.
3. Extensive knowledge and use of social media channels (X, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram etc.), marketing platforms (e.g. for newsletters) and management tools (e.g. Hootsuite).
4. Experience using a range of tools to create digital communications materials (e.g. Canva and video editing software; Illustrator and Premier Pro would be an advantage) and content management systems (e.g. WordPress).
5. Understanding of the digital landscape, emerging trends, tools and best practices in social media and digital communications (including SEO, UI, UX, Information Architecture).
6. Demonstrated experience developing and implementing social media, digital and campaign strategies, and using reporting and analytics tools – with proven success in driving engagement and followers.
7. Strong creative flair with a strong understanding of best-practice design principles.
8. Strong project management skills and the ability to multi-task, meet deadlines and cope flexibly with a range of jobs to meet (and exceed) client expectations.
9. Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills, with strong attention to detail.

• Innovative, able to think outside the box and develop inspiring campaigns and products that stand out and showcase our clients’ amazing work.

Joining our team, the Communications Assistant will be working closely with the Communications Manager and, as a team, they will play a pivotal role in providing communications support and oversight to the Country Communications Leads in the countries that AKS operates in. 

The Communications Assistant will be working across a wide range of priority areas, including producing, reviewing and editing communication materials, coordinating the development of communication materials, and supporting the Country Communications Leads. The Communications Assistant is expected to be keen to learn and grow within the team, have excellent writing and coordination skills, proven experience of managing digital platforms, the ability to develop engaging social media content, and multi-task.

The role may include some travel to AKS’ countries of operation.
