About this key role

Our successful candidate will assess referred clients, with reference to St Giles Trust assessment practices, and produce support plans and risk management plans based on these assessments, promoting inter-agency collaboration in the assessment and planning process. We will count on you to develop and maintain relationships with referral agencies, including police, treatment provider and Liaison and Diversion, and to deliver a holistic support service working, providing a practical service that will include social and housing support, education, training and employment options, benefits work, and debt advice.

Closing cases efficiently and positively, identifying a success plan for the client that will identify agencies that can be used for on-going support and agencies that can be used if serious problems develop in the future is also a key aspect of the role.

What we are looking for

• If still serving a sentence: to be currently eligible for Release on Temporary License (ROTL); on release, likely to be living within commuting distance of Wakefield; to be willing to provide a DBS check and other disclosure as required, including references from the Prison Service
• Experience of providing support, advice and advocacy and the ability to assess client’s needs
• Experience in negotiation with partner agencies to establish links to further aims of the project
• Proven record of engaging successfully with challenging people
• Knowledge of services for offenders and patterns of offending in Wakefield
• Excellent interpersonal, relationship-building and communication skills, both verbal and written

Job Purpose 

The purpose of this role is to provide operational support to CAVA’s Health and Wellbeing Manager to support the delivery of the community engagement aspect of the REN Workplan which is identified through the REN Working/Steering Group. This role will support engagement with communities throughout Coventry and Warwickshire by supporting delivery of in-person engagement events and support the recruitment of, and support related to, Volunteer Community Research Champions who play a vital and central role within this scope of work.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

• Support organisation and delivery of in-person engagement events for the REN work
• Support the REN Working and Steering Groups with communications and marketing activities with various stakeholders (including with: VCFSEs; potential and existing volunteer Community Research Champions; updates to funders; and for various communication channels of the ICS) 
• Support gathering of examples of good practice and presenting these case studies in various formats
• Support the team with gathering intelligence, and liaising with VCFSEs about capturing and sharing in an Engagements and Insights Atlas the research opportunities and learnings from across Coventry and Warwickshire
• Champion VCFSEs involvement in using their knowledge and understanding of issues related to addressing inequalities and under-representation, and improving health
• Support the REN with writing monitoring reports
• Circulate relevant material and agendas and take notes from virtual and in-person meetings
• Support the REN with the recruitment, on-going support, training, and organisation of virtual and in-person events for volunteer Community Research Champions

The post of Group Facilitator will be to provide support to victims of domestic abuse and sexual violence within group work provision.

At FearFree we run various trauma-informed groups for victims such as Empowering You (an educational domestic abuse online support group) and Rediscovering You, a face-to-face emotional wellbeing recovery group.

We are looking for experienced and motivated staff to join to help deliver the group work programmes we run around locations in Wiltshire. Groups run in the morning, afternoon and evening. Training for the groups will be provided.

In addition to facilitating groups, staff will be asked to attend training events and meetings, including regular supervision.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

• To facilitate group work provisions across the Wiltshire Service on weekdays, including afternoons and evenings.
• Completing pre and post group assessments and required paperwork, following the procedures in place.
• Write comprehensive case notes following groups about service user involvement, any concerns raised and any action required.
• Identify and take the appropriate action on any disclosures or safeguarding concerns raised within the group.
• To work cohesively with a second facilitator both virtually and in person in locations around Wiltshire.
• A willingness and ability to travel around Wiltshire and access to a vehicle with business insurance.

Skills and Qualities

• Experience of working with victims of domestic abuse or sexual violence or the willingness to increase knowledge and skills in this area.
• Experience of working with vulnerable people.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience running groups, including listening skills, a good sense of timing, sensitivity to overall group dynamics, maintaining group safety and practical elements such as ensuring course material is delivered.
• A willingness to participate in in-house training, including group observation.

General

• Attend supervision as required.
• Attend and contribute to team meetings.
• Ensure service user records are kept up to date.
• Contribute to effective team working with a flexible and pro-active approach, including cover for other team members’ holidays and sickness.
• Undertake agreed training and keep updated on changes in legislation, policy and best practice.

Other Responsibilities

• The post holder will deal with highly confidential information relating to vulnerable people.
• Ensure security of data, especially sensitive personal data, in line with the information security policy.
• Work within FearFree’s Policies and Procedures at all times.

Scope of the Job

The Finance Officer at Alfanar will play a crucial role in delivering an effective and efficient finance function across the organization's group structure. Reporting to the Head of Finance, the Finance Officer will be supporting various financial tasks, including budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, cash and reserves management, accounting processes, and financial risk mitigation. The role requires a focus on continuous improvement, problem-solving, and development to ensure high-performance standards and exceptional finance services for Alfanar's teams.

Reports to: Head of Finance

Main Responsibilities

· Manage all receivables and payables following agreed processes and ensure timely payment.

· Prepare monthly payroll and set up salary payments

· Reconcile bank accounts on a monthly basis

· Producing Monthly Management Accounts with the help of the finance system and Excel templates.

· Review donor reports prepared by the country office for accuracy and cost allocation

· Claim gift aid on a regular basis

· Support organisation budget and proposal budget process.

· Support organisational audit process.

· Any other duties as agreed by the Head of Finance.

Financial accounting

· Be an integral part of ensuring effective and efficient financial control environment across Alfanar’s group structure

· Operate key financial controls including balance sheet schedules, intercompany and income reconciliations

· Support the continuing develop of effective financial management procedures, increasing automation and efficiency

· Ensure accurate and complete records for restricted funds

· Active involvement in payroll to ensure an accurate and up to date payroll

· Manage the payments process using Xero financial software ,review and set up payments at the bank

· Support Head of Finance in developing and implementing  Finance processes across the Alfanar group.

· Ensure Alfanar is up to date and compliant with its statutory duties relating to Payroll, Pensions, VAT , Corporation Tax and  other statutory submissions.

Reporting

● Support Head of Finance with the preparation of  annual accounts in line with financial reporting standards, including consolidation of future group entities, ready for Audit.

● Support Head of Finance during organisation’s external audit

● Liaise with external accountants, including on all filing requirements

● Prepare financial information for the trustees annual report and liaise with the communications function on presentation

Financial management reporting and finance business partnering

● Support budgeting and reforecasting process led by Head of Finance. Ensure relevant team members receive guidance notes and documentation in relation to the budget and forecast processes and templates

● Manage the month end close procedure, including preparing journals to record the required accruals and fund transfers

● Prepare, review and analyse management accounts, seek variance explanations, prepare commentary and summaries based on budget holder responses, and ensure management understand any required actions.

● Continue to develop monthly management reports and budget Vs actual reports for budget holders.

● Work with the fundraising team to ensure that income data flows are documented, and finance and fundraising metrics are clearly defined and accurately calculated and reported

Tax, cash, risk and reserves management and group operations

● Working with the Head of Finance, manage, review and improve Alfanar’s (online) banking arrangements and relationships, across the group structure

● Prepare monthly cash flow forecasts and requirements and ensure appropriate cash management and transfers across the group structure.

● Should it be required, support with Alfanar’s registration for VAT, set up and operate the required changes to the accounting systems, and prepare and file VAT returns, including other entities within the VAT group

Qualifications & Experience

Essential

● Experience of supporting in accounting, payments, transaction processing, financial reporting, tax, and cash management with international operations ideally in a growing group.

● Experience of automating financial processes and developing  reporting functionality from accounting systems

● Knowledge and experience of using Xero or other cloud-based accounting software.

● Experience of providing financial management support/business partnering to managers/budget holders, who may not have a financial background.

● Qualified affiliate accountant or working towards a qualification (UK ACA, CIMA, ACCA ,AAT or equivalent)

● Knowledge of data protection legislation, risk management and other governance regulations including confidentiality.

● Bachelor or Master's degree in accounting or finance.

● Experience in Finance Function in a not-for-profit setting, whether gained in a paid or voluntary capacity

The team is one of a number at CRUK that reviews and synthesises evidence, differing in terms of their audience focus and/or topic focus. The successful candidate will need to work closely with their peers to ensure that CRUK has the maximum impact across all their audiences to improve cancer outcomes.

About the team

The Health Information team work to inform and engage the public with information on cancer prevention, early diagnosis and screening. We do this using evidence and look for opportunities to reach those who need it most. We use our knowledge and communications expertise to guide and shape activity across the charity including policy, partnerships and fundraising.

What will I be doing?

• Oversee the provision of high quality, accessible and evidence-based health information including maintaining a good understanding of best practice

• Provide strategic direction for CRUK's health information priority topics to maximise impact across public facing channels including but not limited to health marketing, communications and partnerships

• Act as a senior subject matter expert on health information and use of evidence, advising senior internal and external stakeholders (Executive Board, other charities, researchers)

• Act as a senior media spokesperson and provide expert sign-off for health information content used in a range of external channels (including press and policy influencing)

• Provide functional leadership to the health information team, ensuring that their time is prioritised effectively to focus on the areas of greatest impact - including balancing proactive workload and support for other teams.

• Responsible for managing the team budgets to ensure activity and services are delivered in an efficient and cost-effective manner.

• Build effective relationships with other evidence teams and policy to minimise duplication of effort, ensure consistency of messaging, and maximise our impact on a range of topics in support of CRUK and PIC's wider influencing and engagement strategy
