Absolutely central to this is designing, commissioning and managing complex and rigorous impact evaluations with experts in the field. The new government has an ambition to halve knife crime within a decade, and we’re anticipating opportunities to work with them to build evidence on new approaches to tackling violence involving children. Your role will focus on creating and making the best of those opportunities. You will: 

• Serve as a senior member of the team. YEF is buzzing with activity and in order to prevent any bottlenecks, we need to expand our senior capacity. 

• Run and manage closed calls for complex evaluations commissioned under Targeted Projects. For each of the programmes we work with, we find and appoint independent evaluators. 

• Expertly manage relationships with key stakeholders. Aside from evaluators, we work closely with other grantees and partners.

 As Service Manager, you will take the lead in the management of the charity’s care workers.

Key responsibilities include:

• Providing professional leadership and guidance to CSWs / CSAs through supervisions and observations, and staff meetings.

The Neighbourhood Care & Phoneline Coordinator reports to the Senior Manager – Older Adults & Volunteering and works in a team alongside the Neighbourhood Care Coordinator and the Befriending & Volunteering Coordinator. This part-time post plays a vital role in supporting isolated older adults in the Bermondsey and Rotherhithe areas. What we do Time & Talents is a lively, busy community centre in the heart of Rotherhithe, London SE16. Set in a leafy heritage building, and ‘T&T2’, our second venue in Surrey Quays Shopping Centre, we offer something for everyone. With a history of 137 years of supporting people of all ages in Rotherhithe and Bermondsey, we bring people together for mutual support, fun and friendship, with a wide range of services and activities for older people and other adults, along with children and families’ programmes and a range of volunteering projects.

The role

In this role, your key responsibilities will include:

• Supporting older people aged 55+ in Bermondsey and Rotherhithe: providing strength-based assessments of individual needs and support to help reduce loneliness, improve health and wellbeing and increase older adult’s opportunities to connect to their local community.

• Delivering a shared phoneline and inbox offering signposting support to older adults.

About you

You are passionate about the power of community, and particularly volunteers, to connect and support people, and you like to work in collaboration with others. You are methodical with demonstrable experience in supporting older or vulnerable adults, particularly able to show experience in working with volunteers to meet the needs of the community. You’re flexible, accountable, take responsibility, are highly organised and skilled in multitasking and balancing priorities.

• You’ll oversee recruitment processes from authorisation to recruit (ATR) through to onboarding, ensuring seamless experiences for both candidates and hiring managers.
• You’ll take responsibility for our digital recruitment channels, including growing and managing our LinkedIn presence, promoting our employer brand, and ensuring we engage top talent through social media.
• Ensuring our Applicant Tracking System (ATS) is fully utilised to improve recruitment efficiency and deliver an outstanding candidate experience.
• Take the lead for recruitment of senior leadership and trustee roles, ensuring a professional, thorough process for securing the best talent.
• Use data-driven insights to monitor service quality, analyse KPIs, and present findings to senior management and the Board of Trustees.
• Work with universities, apprenticeship providers, and external institutions to create a talent pipeline for critical and hard-to-fill roles.
• Ensure that our recruitment processes champion diversity and reflect our commitment to creating an inclusive and welcoming workplace for all.
• Coach and mentor the resourcing team, helping them grow professionally and maintain high recruitment standards.
• Work closely with the Digital Marketing team to create engaging and effective recruitment campaigns, ensuring we promote our People Value Proposition (PVP).
• Ensure adherence to recruitment policies, industry regulations, and audit requirements to mitigate risk.
• Oversee relationships with external recruitment and advertising agencies, negotiating contracts, and ensuring value for money.

Recruitment Process:
 
We are planning a two stage interview process. The first round of interviews will take place during the week commencing Monday 21 October, conducted via Microsoft Teams.

• Experience with social media and professional networks, especially LinkedIn, for recruitment and employer branding.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills at all levels.
• Familiarity with recruitment legislation and current industry trends.
• Competence in MS Office, Teams, and other digital platforms.

It would also be great if you had: 

• BPS Test User, Ability & Personality qualification (formerly Level A or B).
• Experience in headhunting and cold calling.
• Familiarity with apprenticeships and government-funded schemes.
• Experience presenting or training senior audiences.
• Previous experience in recruiting volunteers or veterinary roles.

The Research Adviser will work within theNutrition Unit of the Operations Department at Action Against Hunger UK.
