As a Tour Guide at Historic Croydon Airport, you will be at the forefront of delivering an engaging and informative experience to our visitors. Your role will involve guiding groups through various parts of Airport House, providing historical insights, and ensuring the safety and enjoyment of all guests.
Responsibilities:

Conducting Tours:
- Lead groups on an informative tour comprising the exterior of Airport House, the Booking Hall/Reception area, up the rear stairs, and terminating at the 2nd Floor AH rear landing/entrance to the Croydon Airport Visitor Centre (CAVC).
- Ensure the tour follows the flow and timings outlined in the Open Day Flow Chart, arriving at the CAVC at the allocated time.

Knowledge Building:
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of the history of Croydon Airport.
- Utilize the Tour Guide Guidance Notes to cover key topics and manage the timing of your tours.

Visitor Engagement:
- Speak clearly and engage visitors, aiming to make the tour interactive and enjoyable for all ages, especially children.
- Answer visitor questions and provide additional information as needed.

Safety and Procedures:
- Briefly mention the Airport House evacuation procedure to visitors at the start of each tour.
- Be mindful of visitor safety throughout the tour, particularly when crossing kerbs, roads, or using stairs within Airport House.

Additional Support:
- Assist with other roles and tasks when not conducting tours, contributing to the smooth operation of Open Days.

Setup and Close Down:
- Arrive on time for Open Days to help with setting up and closing down activities.
Qualifications:
- Strong interest in history and heritage, with a focus on aviation and Croydon Airport.
- Excellent communication and public speaking skills.
- Ability to engage and interact with visitors of all ages.
- Punctual, reliable, and able to follow scheduled timings closely.

Training: Tour Guides will receive an induction, including a review of emergency procedures and the Tour Guide Guidance Notes. Ongoing training sessions and resources will be provided to support knowledge building.

Get Out There groups are a growing division of Sense that cater for children between 6 and 16 with complex needs. We provide a 4 hour social setting which caters for children and families who need respite. We offer activities such as games, puzzles, arts and crafts, experiments, cookery and sensory play. We aim to tailor sessions to the needs, interests and abilities of the children we support and put pupil voice at the center of all we do.
As a volunteer you'll make sure that everyone has a great time and can make the most of the activities on offer. You'll need lots of energy, a warm and welcoming personality and to be happy getting stuck in to a wide range of tasks and activities, all of which make sure that everyone has the best day they can together.
What your role will involve
- Taking part in activities alongside disabled young people. You could be joining creative activities, movement or sports session, trips out in to the local community or seasonal themed activities.
- Helping to set up the activities at the start of the day, clear away at the end and keep activities safe, clean and running smoothly throughout.
- Helping to welcome young people to the group, find their way around and between activities, enjoy breaks and lunchtime and generally have a great day with the team and Sense.
A basic / enhanced Disclosure & Barring check will be required for this volunteer role.

We're looking for a new Chief Volunteer for International, to provide strategic volunteer leadership for both UK Scouting’s international relationships with the World Organisation of the Scout Movement, National Scout Organisations worldwide and Scouting’s international partner organisations; and the UK’s approach to delivering the international component of our Scout programme for young people.
Operationally, you'll play a senior leadership role in the forming and management of our UK contingents to World and European events ensuring that learning from previous events and agreed methods

You'll provide leadership for the various teams and functions that operate the international services and support for UK Headquarters within UK Scouting and internationally including our International Rep Pool, International Support Team and international endorsements process.

Babyzone is a charity which aims to support to families with babies and toddlers. We’re focused on breaking down the barriers that many parents face in accessing high quality early years offers.
Babyzones are currently delivered each week in Youth Zones where we run free exploratory play and evidence-based early years classes in a clean, safe and welcoming environment. We design our approach around the needs of lower income families, but are open to all. Parents don’t sign up in advance, there’s no timetable and we don’t take names and personal details from our families. We believe that by removing barriers we are creating a fully accessible, inclusive place for parents and carers to bring their children to play, read, chat and sing together.
We would love to have a team of Volunteers to help us support and engage with the families who attend Babyzone. We would love for you to do this by:
- speaking with the families, some of which are experiencing loneliness, PPD, poverty, abuse
- play with the children and introduce them to some of the activities we have going on
- keep the play spaces tidy and accessible
- direct the families to the correct support or classes that we run
- support with set up and pack down

Overview
Esteem works with young adults aged 14 - 26 to build lasting self-Esteem and stronger communities through group activities and 1-2-1 support.
Esteem creates spaces where everyone matters.
Esteem works with 200 young adults annually across all of Sussex who face barriers to achieving their life goals. We have a base in Shoreham and offer a variety of different opportunities, including social drop-in sessions, mentoring, wellbeing sessions, volunteering and counselling. We have a dedicated staff team with various backgrounds and a commitment to championing the views of young adults throughout the organisation.
This is an exciting opportunity to volunteer for a charity that is passionate about giving young adults the chance to develop their skills and confidence, both for their own benefit and for that of society as a whole. Esteem works with young adults to run Wellbeing, Social, Mentoring and Volunteering opportunities, with a youth-led and asset-based approach.
This voluntary role of Trustee & Secretary will include duties such as organising and minuting board meetings and some administrative duties to support the board. As well as the normal duties of a trustee (see The Essential Trustee Duties) The main aim is for the Trustee Secretary to support the Chair and the CO in ensuring the smooth functioning of the board of trustees. This would also compliment other areas we seek to enhance the trustee team, which include a wide range of skills, and expertise in youth work, strategy planning, business development, financial administration and fundraising, as well as an interest in vocational and personal development for young people, combined with an in-depth understanding of our work and ambitions.
You will be jointly and severally responsible for the overall governance and strategic direction of the charity, its financial health, the probity of its activities and developing the organisation’s aims, objectives and goals in accordance with the governing document, legal and regulatory guidelines. All trustees should also be aware of, and understand, their individual and collective responsibilities, and should not be overly reliant on one or more individual trustees in any particular aspect of the governance of the charity.
During Trustee meetings, your role would be to take minutes and record actions. Following each meeting, you would write up the minutes, share with the Board, as well as support the Chair and CO to plan for the next meeting.
Individuals are sought who have a strong empathy with Esteem’s goal of enabling young adults to flourish. The Esteem Secretary will be expected to contribute around 6 hours per month to the organisation, including board meetings, which run for two hours every two months, from 6-8pm at The Old School House, Shoreham. A minimum commitment of two years would be preferable. This post requires some flexibility due to the nature of Esteem being a growing organisation.
Your regular tasks and responsibilities will include:

About the role
We are looking for Volunteer Café Assistants to support our John Hall Wellness Gardens in Leek. You will be based at our new Café and, ideally, you will be able to commit 4 hours per week to volunteering.
You will receive training and regular supervision to ensure you feel confident in your role.
About the service
John Hall Gardens is a Community Education Garden & Café green space for the community of Leek, local schools, colleges, and social enterprises. With the aim of enabling the local community to work/learn and socialise with people with mental and physical health support needs. This includes adults of all ages and children and young people.
Assisting the Café Supervisor and your fellow volunteers, you will play an integral part of John Hall Wellness Garden’s future, by helping to deliver a café experience for the general public, Friends of the Garden, and guests. If you think you can make a difference and commit some time on a regular on-going basis, we would love to hear from you!
This is a great opportunity to develop your current existing skills, learn new skills and network with other volunteers. We welcome anyone wishing to gain experience or have an interest in going into the hospitality sector.
What you will be doing as a Volunteer Café Assistant
You will have the opportunity to assist with food preparation, presentation, cleaning and serving/selling high quality food and beverages.
Under the guidance of the Café Supervisor, you, together with other volunteers will ensure that the Café is compliant with all relevant health and safety legislation and pursuing an outstanding performance and food hygiene rating.
In addition, there will be further opportunities to support activity groups in the café, special events and input into event and menu planning.
The main tasks volunteer café assistants will support with are:
- Support Café staff, other volunteers and trainees in the smooth day to day running of the Café.
- Carry out basic catering tasks including food preparation, cleaning and serving food to customers.
- Operate the coffee machine (full training will be provided).
- Handle cash or card transactions and operate the till.
- Work with the Café Supervisor to ensure relevant paperwork is completed and checks are carried out ensuring compliance against relevant food safety and health and safety policies and procedures.
- Ensure kitchen area and Café are clean and tidy (including equipment, walls, floors, tables, work surfaces), and waste is discarded safely.
- Provide good customer service, dealing with visitors and customers in a friendly and polite manner.
What will make you a great fit for this role?
- Eagerness to learn and train in all aspects of the café catering operation
- Cheerful nature, good interpersonal skills, can communicate confidently with a range of people of all ages
- Good customer care service skills
Although this is not essential - you may also have:
- Basic food safety knowledge or HACCP. Further training, will be provided including allergens
- Experience in food handling and basic preparation of foods

Our fabulous annual Sutton Park Challenge Run takes place on Sunday 6th October. This is a small event with a huge heart, and to ensure everyone is included we will be hosting three races – a 10k, a 5k and a 1k. It is wheelchair accessible and competitors can even run with their dogs (or cats...)
We need friendly people for approximately 4 hours to marshal the routes, patrol the car park, greet competitors and supporters, and help us to set up and clear away at the end of the event.
We are passionate that it is a highly accessible and inclusive event. Whether someone wants to run, walk, or push someone else in a wheelchair, this is a great way for people to challenge themselves.
A marshal is one of the most important volunteer roles at any event, helping us achieve our fundraising goals, and making the day special, safe, and memorable for all.
Competitors are sponsored to run, and all funds raised will support the vital work Midland Mencap does for people with disabilities and their family carers.

Are you looking to get involved in the local community and would like to facilitate a group for people who use Hestia’s services?
There are opportunities across Hestia’s services to use your skills and talents to coordinate an activity that will bring people together, motivate and inspire people to reconnect with an old hobby or try something new for the first time. Volunteers’ provide people in our services opportunities to meet others, develop friendships and create a routine and activity to their day. Group activities could include anything from art, music, creative writing to leading a discussion and peer support group.
What you will be doing
- Work alongside staff to support people in our service or accessing one of our drop-in sessions to plan, facilitate and evaluate group activities.
- To design session plans and collaborate with people using the services to be involved in the designing and planning of the session.
- Holding conversations with people using the service, checking in on their wellbeing and providing a listening ear/friendly face.
- Encourage group members to participate in a group activity.
- Opportunities to deliver activities alongside the staff team and other volunteers.
- To assist with ad hoc and administrative tasks to support the running of the group.

- Knowledge and experience of working with people with varying backgrounds and needs
- Good communication skills
- Ability to provide a supportive, and inclusive atmosphere that encourages learning and participation.
