With homelessness rates rising, St Mungo’s is looking for a creative and driven Senior Press and PR Officer to help end homelessness and rebuild lives. You will be joining a team of 4 which includes a Press and PR Lead, a part-time Press Officer, and a part-time Senior Press and PR Officer - both focussed on Fundraising and Brand PR, whilst you will be focussed on Policy and Research PR.

In this fast-paced role, you will work to build and maintain relationships with national, regional, and trade journalists to tell varied and compelling stories from one of the UK’s leading homelessness charities. There will be opportunities to speak to services and people with lived experience of homelessness to build timely PR on some of our core issues. With this role, you can also expect to: 

• Be part of a busy press office, with journalists contacting us on anything related to service visits to commentary on the Renters’ Rights Bill
• Write creatively and to a variety of audiences, using the full set of tools in your PR arsenal: press releases, opinion pieces, quick-fire comments, photo galleries, and letters to editor
• Be trusted counsel to members of the senior management team and colleagues across the organisation in relation to Press and PR work, providing briefings and practice interviews where appropriate
• Devise timely PR stunts to ensure that homelessness remains high on the media agenda  

About you

You might already be working as a Senior Press and PR officer looking for a new challenge or looking for the next step in your media career. Either way, we are looking for a positive, patient, and agile communications professional who has news sense and a genuine interest in supporting the aims and ambitions of St Mungo’s. To be successful in this exciting role you will be someone who:

• Thrives under-pressure and can juggle multiple and competing demands, while prioritising your own workload.
• Is a team player who is happy to take ownership of projects and step up to support colleagues as required.
• Works with a solution focused approach who can see the ‘big picture’ and problem solve in a pressurised environment.

• Has experience of delivering proactive PR and communications campaigns and the ability to deal with crisis communications.

In this role you will be required to work flexibly for at least 2 days per week from our Central Office in Tower Hill, London. This allows for training, in person collaboration, team building, line management and other relationship building opportunities. We support a flexible approach to work with opportunities for agile working for the rest of your week; from home, or other St Mungo’s London or regional locations.

About the role 

As a Lead Worker (Intensive Case Management), you will deliver intensive, person-centred, and holistic support to people who are disadvantaged and need significant support to end their homelessness. You will be collaborating with internal and external colleagues to meet people’s immediate, acute needs and to support them to start taking steps towards ending their homelessness.

We take a bold approach to supporting people and adapt our ways of working when needed to ensure that we are providing impactful, equitable service giving everyone a fair opportunity to receive the support they need. We help people to challenge barriers put up by the system. This is an incredibly varied role as you will offer practical support such as help to attend external appointments, open bank accounts, and obtain IDs, but you will also work closely with our internal clinical psychologists to help your members to recognise their strengths and build resilience.

About you 

• You have experience supporting people with complex trauma and multiple needs including mental health, physical health and substance misuse difficulties, a history of multiple exclusion and social isolation. 

• You have worked within a relevant sector which could include domestic violence, women’s services, migrants’ services, probation, or health services. 

• You have knowledge of relevant housing, homelessness, social care, and welfare legislation. 

• You work reflectively and welcome learning through continuous improvement.

The Direct Marketing Manager, Retention, is a newly developed role at the DEC, responsible for shaping and delivering new and existing supporter journeys for DEC individual, community and legacy donors, and leading a programme of improvement across all major contact points between the DEC and the public.

The Direct Marketing Manager, Retention will:

• Contribute to and develop DEC direct marketing strategies, including the refreshing, implementation and analysis of the DEC’s segmentation, to maximise future income and continually improve the retention of individual supporters for future emergency appeals,
• Lead on the production of retention and reporting back materials for individual and community supporters,
• Manage the development and maintenance of specific supporter journeys,
• Develop and oversee the materials and supporter positioning for a light touch and mainly reactive legacy marketing programme for the DEC.

Key responsibilities include:

Strategy and Planning

• Develop and implement the direct marketing retention strategy, ensuring that past learnings are built upon, and new ideas are tested.
• Develop and implement specific audience journeys for segments across both the life cycle of a DEC appeal and between appeals.
• Ensure timely and relevant communications to all direct marketing, community, and legacy audiences on the impact of their donations.
• Build an improved supporter journey strategy for new, repeat, and lapsed donors.

Fundraising

The Assessment Coordinator is the conduit for young people to access the youth accommodation pathway in Greenwich.  As well as triage and intake, the role supports young people by navigating their journey either by facilitating their safe return home, or into longer term suitable supported accommodation.

You will ensure the performance, quality assurance and continuous improvement of services, working towards the aims of revitalising neighbourhoods and transforming lives, by promoting the health, independence and wellbeing of people who use services. 

You will oversee the delivery of a safe, caring, compassionate and outstanding service that meets CQC regulatory requirements.

About you:

You will hold a registration with the CQC and have experience of managing CQC regulated services.  Experience of housing is desirable but not essential.  As a leader, you will be passionate, innovative, professional and a real team player.

• Experience of managing a service for the required customers group (older people, mental health, learning difficulties)
• Experience of communicating objectives and managing performance targets
• Ability to identify, plan and priorities tasks effectively

About the Role

This role will lead on the day-to-day operation of the accounts receivable, credit control, accounts payable and cash management functions.  You will be required to work closely with the financial controller and other members of the Finance Team to ensure that processing in these areas is complete, accurate and compliant, and supports the timely preparation of management accounts. You will also work with colleagues from across the organisation and key external stakeholders to ensure that income is received, cash is held and monitored following the Charity’s internal financial controls, and all legal and regulatory requirements are complied with.

There will be a need to exercise good leadership and management skills and be able to prioritise and delegate effectively to the Finance Assistants.

Key responsibilities include:

• Lead the day to day operations of the sales ledger function
• Responsible for ensuring invoices are raised on time and in line with agreements with funders
• Responsible for the collection and recording of all non-rental income, in accordance with the charity’s income and internal controls policies
• Main point of contact for queries regarding non-rental income sales invoices
• Monitor all cash transactions and ensure they are recorded on the Finance system on a timely basis
• To lead on the day to day operations of the purchase ledger function
• To manage the preparation of the weekly payment run, ensuring that all due items are included
• Review nominal ledger activity and post journals for on a timely basis to ensure ledger information is accurate and complete in line with month end timetable
• Responsible for the accurate preparation of month end reconciliations for allocated balance sheet codes including Fixed Assets, bank accounts, debtors, accrued and deferred income

About You

You will need to have the following skills and experience:

· Part-qualified accountant or extensive and demonstrable experience in a variety of financial roles

· Experience in the preparation of accounts to trial balance stage

· Credit control experience

· Excellent IT skills, and an ability to identify opportunities for efficiencies through automation.

· Ability to use initiative, make sound decisions and prioritise effectively to ensure that outcomes are met

· A sound knowledge of and commitment to the implementation of financial controls to protect organisational resources
