The Race Equality Foundation and City, St George’s University of London are looking to better understand the experiences of racism and discrimination among young people from Black, Asian, and minoritised ethnic backgrounds (aged 16-25).

We want to work collaboratively with young people themselves by supporting them to be researchers and using photography and running workshops to explore important issues. At the end of the project, we’ll share our findings and explore the next steps for further research to put ideas into action.

We’re looking for two Peer Researchers to join the study. A Peer Researcher is someone who has personal experience and knowledge about the topic and helps shape the research.

Peer Researchers will work closely with the team, lead various parts of the project, engage with young people, run workshops, and help develop the project’s findings.

Here at Rainbows Children’s Hospice, we provide specialist palliative care and end-of-life support to over 750 Babies, Children, and Young People living with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions, as well as approximately 3,000 people, including families, siblings, and carers, across the East Midlands. Join Operation Smile UK as our Senior Acquisition Manager and make a difference in the lives of children. We're searching for a fundraising professional with experience in acquiring new donors through a variety of fundraising channels including Door to Door (F2F), digital fundraising, DRTV, cold mailing and door drops. You'll be responsible for managing a £2.4 million budget and developing innovative strategies to increase individual cash and regular giving support. This role is not responsible for the supervision or direction of staff.

Operation Smile is a global nonprofit specialising in cleft surgery and care. We provide medical training, education and mentorship to surgical teams around the world, along with expertise, research and care through our staff and volunteers, working alongside local governments, nonprofits and health systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and drive recruitment of regular givers and cash givers to grow income and supporter volumes, in a multi-channel programme including Door to Door (F2F), digital fundraising channels, DRTV, cold mailing and door drops.
• Manage relationships with agency partners executing acquisition campaigns on behalf of Operation Smile UK for the betterment of the acquisition programme.
• Lead and execute our door-to-door (F2F) programme with the goal of expanding this form of acquisition fundraising over the coming years.
• Conduct a comprehensive evaluation of OSUK's digital acquisition fundraising program, including the performance of current agencies and consultants. Develop strategic recommendations and a future-focused plan that leverages the expertise of existing or new external partners.
• Full campaign management and execution in line with prescribed deadlines. This includes briefing agencies, sourcing content, managing data, copy development, proofing, briefing stakeholders, training agents, developing campaign analysis and reporting, managing costs and invoice processing.
• Monitor and report on budgets and assist in building future expenditure and income targets. Work as part of the Individual Giving team to reach strategic targets.
• Work closely with the Communications & Digital team, and Individual Giving team to ensure campaigns are in line with brand standards and integrated seamlessly with supporter retention.
• Work closely with the Individual Giving team to constantly refine the newly introduced ‘welcome programme’ aimed at transitioning new donors to retained donors and improving retention rate.

About The Role

You will provide full administrative support to the Legal Team, including taking telephone calls, secretarial duties, data entry, note taking, sorting the post and managing diaries. You will also be responsible for supporting the wider team when required to ensure the effective running of the service. You will need to liaise with clients and third parties, including making appointments and obtaining information. Producing reports, providing an accurate audio typing service, processing legal funding and other documents, managing files, preparing documents for court and entering information onto a case management system are other aspects of this interesting and varied role.

About You

You have secretarial experience gained in a legal practice and audio/copy typing skills with a minimum of 70 wpm, along with advanced knowledge of IT tools including case management systems and MS Office systems.  You have great written and verbal communication skills and enjoy working as part of a busy team.

Key Responsibilities

Business partnership

• Provide a full business partnering support to the Endowment business unit:
• Build, maintain and develop effective relationships with members of the Endowment team and work closely with them to improve mutual knowledge and financial understanding.
• Serve as a key partner to Endowment leadership, acting as a ‘critical friend’ by challenging assumptions and activities were necessary to ensure alignment of strategic and financial goals.

Accounting, reporting, budgeting and planning

• Perform the accounting for the property and financial investing activities of the business unit, including property rental income and expenditure derived from third party managers’ reports.
• Prepare regular financial reports, including P&L statements, balance sheets and cash flow statements which are tailored to both the Endowment’s and the wider organisation’s needs and aligned with their structures.

Right now, we’re looking for someone like you to join our specialist substance misuse family safeguarding team in Derby who specialises in reducing the harms caused to children and families as a result of parental substance misuse whilst improving parenting ability and family functioning to reduce family breakdown. 

Aquarius work with families and young people across a range of home and community settings supporting parents to build insight into the impact of parental substance misuse whilst developing safety and risk management strategies to minimise risk to the wider family.

Your challenge? To support and deliver substance misuse and safeguarding focused interventions with substance using parents through 1:1 support, group facilitation and employing an multi-agency approach alongside voluntary and statutory agencies involved in family support. 

Aquarius has a well embedded family service with a think family approach being utilised across the city of Derby We are looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic person to help deliver this service and expand the family support options to support families in Derby with the aim of improving outcomes for all family members affected by parental substance misuse. 

An energetic and confident self-starter, you will need a passion for working with families supported by a qualification in health/social care, youth and community work (e.g. NVQ Level 3 or above, DipSW, Mental Health Nursing, Counselling, Addiction Studies). Alternatively, we’ll consider candidates with experience of working in the substance misuse field with a commitment to complete NVQ Level 3 Health and Social Care. About the role

You will deliver high quality housing advice and advocacy in line with the hub’s local community priorities and work with people who are experiencing homelessness and bad housing to identify issues facing local communities.  You will plan and deliver casework to individuals and communities to resolve their housing situation and engage with community groups, local organisations and individuals to understand local housing issues and raise awareness of people’s rights.

You will also work in local community settings and with community groups to deliver advice and rights awareness workshops and make sure that people with lived experience of homelessness have opportunities to share their story, give their opinions and participate in the design and delivery of Shelter services.

Offering day to day support to volunteers, providing learning, shadowing and mentoring and being a consistent role model for our values are also key aspects of the role.

About you

You are able to listen to, engage and work with individuals and communities and with all stakeholders, including people with lived experience of homelessness. You will have experience, knowledge of and/or proven ability in housing and homelessness advice and advocacy and are able to progress to specialist level knowledge, as well as the ability to carry out casework related interviews, maintain detailed case records, advise and support clients to make informed decisions.

A proven record of delivering group workshops and presentations is essential, as is a collaborative, flexible and professional approach to your work.

The Lancashire Hub has 25 staff and you will be a key member of the team defending the right to a safe home. Each of Shelter’s hubs has its own local priorities based on the issues our clients have. The GROW Traineeship gives people with lived experience of homelessness and/or other related disadvantages (including but not limited to; contact with the criminal justice system, mental ill-health or substance use) access to paid employment, training and personal development opportunities. The traineeship lasts for up to 15 months, and each GROW receives personalised training and support to help remove some of the barriers that may have prevented them from getting meaningful employment. About the role

The role is working as a trainee Housing Rights Worker with the aim of being able to provide generalist housing and homelessness advice by the end of the fixed term. The successful candidate will be given extensive training, support, and supervision to support them to achieve this. They will also have access to a flexible personal budget to help in your own personal and professional development.

The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to community hub priorities and be involved in systems change work in the area.

The GROW trainee programme includes opportunities to get involved in developing services in the Northeast and across Shelter at a national level, using your experiences to influence our local strategic aims.

About you

We are looking for people who have experience of overcoming personal challenges and barriers and who are passionate about using their own life experiences to help make positive change for others. Good communication skills and the ability to make people feel heard will also be essential. Basic computer skills, e.g. word processing, the internet and email would be useful, but support can be provided. Above all, we need people with a real desire to develop personally and learn new skills.

Community Development and Wind Farm Manager

Location: Hybrid, based in Uist, with a desk at old Lochmaddy School, North Uist.

Role summary:                   
This is an exciting opportunity to join North Uist Development Company (NUDC) and UistWind (North Uist Development Company Trading Limited) to act as a catalyst for innovative and sustainable community development and for successful operational management of the North Uist community-owned wind farm – UistWind.

The successful candidate will work with the UistWind Management Committee, its members and associated parties, to manage the Community Benefit Society’s operational business needs, meeting compliance requirements while working to maximise generation and revenue from two 900kW wind turbines at Criongrabhal near Clachan-na-Luib in North Uist for the benefit of the local community.The successful candidate will also work with NUDC and the wider community, to develop and implement both a community development plan, and a community investment plan for the UistWind community benefit fund, which takes account of opportunities to enhance the socio-economic, cultural and environmental welfare of the North Uist and Berneray area.

Right now, one of our partners, Aquarius is looking for a Drug and Alcohol Practitioner to join their Bedfordshire Young People’s Team. Aquarius helps young people aged 5-18 overcome the harm caused by drugs and alcohol by working closely with the individual, family members and other professionals . But it’s only possible with the help of people like you.

Your challenge? – To provide information and advice, brief interventions and long term structured interventions to support young people who are using drugs and alcohol or being impacted by someone else’s use.  You will be conducting assessments, risk assessments, care-planning and working directly with other services such as schools, social care, mental health services and youth offending.The successful candidate must have exceptional organisational skills and the ability to work with other agencies both face to face, email and via telephone.

An energetic and confident self-starter, you will be required to hold a qualification in health/social care, youth and community work (e.g. NVQ Level 3 or above, DipSW, Mental Health Nursing, Counselling, Addiction Studies). Alternatively, we’ll consider candidates with experience of working in the substance misuse field . As well as good knowledge of alcohol/drug and health related issues, you will be used to liaising with voluntary and statutory agencies and health professionals and comfortable engaging with clients in a variety of service delivery settings. You will have a flexible approach, a commitment to the principles of confidentiality, excellent record keeping and  a working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

As this role requires travelling around Bedford, you will also need to have a clean driving licence and access to a vehicle.

SV 2 has been supporting victims and survivors of sexual abuse since 1994, and today provides a range of services to anyone in Derbyshire or Derby City who has experienced sexual abuse, assault or violence, including friends and family members. We're looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Therapy Delivery Manager to join our friendly, professional and passionate team, working across Derbyshire remotely and in person. You'll manage our BACP accredited therapy service, which provides therapy for people of all ages, delivered by a team of employed therapists and a pool of self-employed counsellors. 

You might be the right person for the role if you have:

• Management qualification minimum level 4
• A minimum 3 years’ experience in managing and supporting staff to deliver services effectively 
• A proven track record working in a quality assurance role including data collection, analysis and problem solving
• Knowledge, experience and awareness of rape and sexual abuse and their effects 
• Brilliant communication skills including an ability to provide effective feedback, negotiate well and work with others, including funders
• Full driving licence and ability to travel across the county on a regular basis
