We have a job vacancy for a Dementia Specialist to join Shine as the Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (NPH) / Dementia Coordinator.
Shine has a membership of over 14,000 members living with Spina Bifida and/or Hydrocephalus and associated conditions and over 6,500 associated members.

About the role:
Our Health team has an exciting opportunity for three new roles to join the team. Two of these roles will be focused in our North London TST team, and one in our Lewisham hostel team with a focus on improving the barriers faced by those experiencing homelessness when accessing health care.
As a Health Lead, your role will focus on developing and embedding SHPs health approach into the services the charity provides. It will involve working with and supporting those living within our hostels who have underlying health needs to access and maintain the health care they need. To complete initial health screening tools, create a health support profile plan for each client and to make referrals to and support them in engaging with the correct services (i.e. dentistry, podiatry). In this role you will complete health mapping and use this information to influence partnerships formed with external services to help overcome barriers faced by those experiencing homelessness.
The approach taken with clients will be psychologically informed, incorporating an understanding of Personality Disorder, complex trauma and addiction. The outcomes for your role, include developing positive and sustained relationships of trust with clients, supporting them to engage in health care support and see an improvement in their overall physical health.

- A knowledge of (or willingness to learn) about common health issues and the barriers to health access that people experiencing homelessness may encounter.

Role & Responsibilities
We’re proud to have recently been given funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund to complete the next phase of our ‘Reuniting Sydenham Hill Wood & Dulwich Wood’ project.
The project will focus on 27.4 hectares of ancient woodland habitat in the largest remining tract of the Great North Wood in South London. This natural heritage is a vital resource for the local community – the Woods saw an unprecedented 81% increase in footfall during the height of the pandemic, with visitor numbers increasing from 189,645 in 2019 to 343,385 in 2020. As Project Manager, you can expect to:
- Oversee all work, ensuring that all project work is completed on time and to budget as described in the delivery phase, holding quarterly meetings to ensure we’re on track
- liaise and further develop relationships with relevant partners and funders
- oversee procurement and management of contractors in the capital works programme for the Woods, this includes the installation footpaths, conservation fencing, boundary railings, and improved entranceways
- oversee and coordinate the Woodland Activity programme which will be delivered by the Senior Officer - Sydenham Hill Wood & Dulwich Wood & the Learning & Engagement Officer along with volunteers
- to implement a signage & interpretation strategy for Dulwich Wood to enable greater, physical and intellectual access
- liaise with the Trust’s Ecologist & manage Ecology Consultants as required. To oversee the implementation of surveys
Our ideal Project Manager
- Experience of project management including budget management and reporting to funders
- An understanding of urban wildlife conservation issues, including woodland habitat restoration and management
- Experience of managing contractors for capital works & consultants
- Understanding of and commitment to equality, diversity & inclusion
- Experience of managing staff, or substantial experience of formally managing volunteers
- Experience of partnership working with a wide range of organisations including landowners, local authorities & community groups

The project will focus on 27.4 hectares of ancient woodland habitat in the largest remining tract of the Great North Wood in South London. This natural heritage is a vital resource for the local community – the Woods saw an unprecedented 81% increase in footfall during the height of the pandemic, with visitor numbers increasing from 189,645 in 2019 to 343,385 in 2020. About the role

CAFOD is seeking a Governance Manager to temporarily support our Leadership & Governance team. Reporting directly to CAFOD’s Director and managing the Leadership & Governance Officer, you will play a critical role in ensuring effective governance, strategic leadership, and strong Trustee relations during this interim period. This is a part-time position requiring two days of commitment per week for approximately six months.
Key Responsibilities
During the period of cover, some of the key responsibilities include:
Governance & Strategic Leadership
- Providing oversight of CAFOD’s Governance work & assisting in the further development and funding of CAFOD’s governance.
- Identify emerging trends in governance and ensure that learning is reflected in CAFOD’s work and proposals.
- Working with the relative department heads to advise the Leadership Team on the likely impact of new initiatives on CAFOD’s current strategy.
- Ensuring CAFOD’s work is in line with Charity Commission requirements and ethical standards are maintained.
Engagement & Reporting
- With the Leadership and Governance Officer and L&G Assistant, to support the Director of CAFOD in managing the relationship between the Board of Trustees and Leadership Team.
- Ensure that all aspects of the Leadership Team and Board meetings are organised and conducted effectively in line with CAFOD’s governance principles.
- Providing strategic guidance and support to CAFOD’s Trustees and Leadership Team
- Developing a plan for the production of CAFOD’s Annual Trustees Report, and project manage its delivery.
- Assist with the external communication of CAFOD’s governance work with key donors and supporters.
Team Leadership
- Providing management/mentoring to the Leadership & Governance Assistant where applicable.
