The Role
Reporting into the Funding and Innovation Manager you will support the delivery of our fundraising strategy and secure external funding into SNG communities and to charities we work with.
Key Responsibilities
- To support the Fundraising and Innovation Manager to deliver our fundraising strategy.
- To secure external funding to benefit SNG communities and customer facing teams around the following themes: Financial & Digital Inclusion, Employment and Training, Community Action and Engagement.
- Lead projects, bids and programmes that bring in external funding to SNG communities and to charities benefiting SNG communities.
- Innovate by supporting the testing and piloting of new programmes and partnerships and identify opportunities to the Head of Partnerships and Funding.
- Build and maintain excellent relationships with stakeholders, including funders, businesses, local authorities and national agencies.
- Support the implementation of governance oversight for fundraising and systems and processes.
What we are looking for
You should have demonstrable experience in a similar role or have knowledge within fundraising and partnerships. We're also looking for:
- Experience in previous roles of securing external funding via bid writing, public sector tenders and contracts, Trusts and Foundations and corporates.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

We now have an exciting opening for a Head of Media, PR & Editorial. The postholder will be responsible for developing and supporting key campaigns and strategies that help to promote and explain the work, impact, health messaging and funding needs to diverse audiences. You will achieve these through PR and media relations, awareness-raising campaign development, supporter stories, celebrity/ambassador management, and the management of a small team, including staff and specialist consultant support.
We are seeking an experienced communications professional with demonstrable expertise and a track-record of success in managing communications for a charity, health or science-related organisation, including developing successful media strategies, with positive press coverage, and writing clear, engaging copy for different audiences across digital and social media channels. The successful candidate will also have proven experience planning and managing multiple cross-departmental projects.

The role
This is a varied and dynamic role that will require you to have strong experience of the Salesforce product and demonstrable hands-on experience in the administration and maintenance of it. This is an excellent opportunity for a French speaking Programme Officer to contribute to an organisation that works to protect the world’s forests and strengthen Indigenous Peoples’ and Local Communities’ rights on land and forestry governance. This role offers hybrid working with one day per week in their London office for 5 months with scope to become permanent. You must be available for an immediate start.
You will use your experience of supporting the delivery of programme activities, including tasks such as budget management and financial reporting, work planning and narrative reporting and the monitoring and evaluation of the programmes’ impacts.
You will support a portfolio of projects, with a primary geographic scope in Africa, and a possible focus on Asia and South America as well. The portfolio will include a multi-year institutionally funded programme of work in West and Central Africa, addressing issues relating to forest governance, climate change and community land rights. You will need to ensure high impact projects are delivered in compliance with internal policies and funder requirements. An important part of the role will be to help establish consistent and effective working practices across the portfolio so that projects and partnerships are well managed within the programmes.
You will work closely with Programme Managers and Officers working in the Africa region, as well as the wider Programme Management Group (working in other regions). You will also work closely with legal experts across programmes to facilitate matrix working and strategy coordination.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the team to deliver project outputs and objectives in accordance with project plans
- Manage key administrative functions, to include processing and monitoring payment requests, invoices and related materials according to existing procedures
- Work with Programme Managers and the finance team to support the management of project and programme budgets and compile and coordinate financial reporting and forecasts

Purpose of the job/About the role
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Finance team at Dementia UK, playing a key role in the administration, maintenance, reporting, and compliance of funds and fund accounting.
As an Accountant, you will be responsible for carrying out monthly balance sheet reconciliations, leading on all trading subsidiary matters, and ensuring charity tax compliance, including VAT and Corporation Tax, across the organisation. You will also support the year-end process, including the preparation of the Annual Report and Accounts as well as assisting with the external audit.
In addition, you will contribute to the ongoing enhancement of financial governance by improving internal controls, configuring financial systems, and ensuring compliance with legal, VAT, and tax regulations. You will also produce accurate financial information to support decision-making, processing pump prime payments, setting up new suppliers, and managing purchase orders. Collaboration with the Finance Manager and Finance Business Partners will be key to ensuring accurate fund allocations for salaries and maintaining up-to-date reports for effective monitoring.
To succeed in this role, you will be either part-qualified in a UK professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA) or part qualified by experience, with 2-3 years of proven financial accounting experience. We are seeking an operational and people focussed Chief Operating Officer (COO) to join our Executive Team. Operational Leadership and Governance
- Overall accountability for the operations of the foundation

Financial Management

- Oversee the financial reports required to review progress against plans and forecasts throughout the year and ensuring these are disseminated and understood across the organisation
- Accountable for regular financial updates to Trustees including the Finance Investment Committee (FIC) and Board meetings along with the preparation of the financial aspects of the annual report and accounts
- Oversee the management and development of VAT reporting for FNF and trading subsidiary

Systems and controls
- Lead in the development, implementation and monitoring of effective procurement systems and procedures, ensuring that FNF achieves best value and drives efficiencies through our external contracts

Scope of the Job
The Finance Officer at Alfanar will play a crucial role in delivering an effective and efficient finance function across the organization's group structure. Reporting to the Head of Finance, the Finance Officer will be supporting various financial tasks, including budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, cash and reserves management, accounting processes, and financial risk mitigation. The role requires a focus on continuous improvement, problem-solving, and development to ensure high-performance standards and exceptional finance services for Alfanar's teams.
Reports to: Head of Finance
Main Responsibilities
· Manage all receivables and payables following agreed processes and ensure timely payment.
· Prepare monthly payroll and set up salary payments
· Reconcile bank accounts on a monthly basis
· Producing Monthly Management Accounts with the help of the finance system and Excel templates.
· Review donor reports prepared by the country office for accuracy and cost allocation
· Claim gift aid on a regular basis
· Support organisation budget and proposal budget process.
· Support organisational audit process.
· Any other duties as agreed by the Head of Finance.
Financial accounting
· Be an integral part of ensuring effective and efficient financial control environment across Alfanar’s group structure
· Operate key financial controls including balance sheet schedules, intercompany and income reconciliations
· Support the continuing develop of effective financial management procedures, increasing automation and efficiency
· Ensure accurate and complete records for restricted funds
· Active involvement in payroll to ensure an accurate and up to date payroll

Reporting

Financial management reporting and finance business partnering
● Support budgeting and reforecasting process led by Head of Finance. Ensure relevant team members receive guidance notes and documentation in relation to the budget and forecast processes and templates
● Manage the month end close procedure, including preparing journals to record the required accruals and fund transfers
● Prepare, review and analyse management accounts, seek variance explanations, prepare commentary and summaries based on budget holder responses, and ensure management understand any required actions.

Tax, cash, risk and reserves management and group operations
● Working with the Head of Finance, manage, review and improve Alfanar’s (online) banking arrangements and relationships, across the group structure
● Prepare monthly cash flow forecasts and requirements and ensure appropriate cash management and transfers across the group structure.

Qualifications & Experience
Essential
● Experience of supporting in accounting, payments, transaction processing, financial reporting, tax, and cash management with international operations ideally in a growing group.
● Experience of automating financial processes and developing reporting functionality from accounting systems
● Knowledge and experience of using Xero or other cloud-based accounting software.

As Exams Assistant you will support the day to day running of the examinations with a particular focus on question bank management. You will be working with the Examinations Team and examiners across all specialties. This will include supporting examiner panels to organise and run question writing sessions and ensuring that question banks remain up to date.
