Summary of the role:

As the Business Development specialist, you will be taking on a leadership role in the organisations plans for seeking growth in new markets through institutional relationships. These include (but are not limited to): the Middle East (Qatar, UAE, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait), Canada, and Europe. This is a senior technical position that performs a variety of complex business development work across the organisation.

About the Role:

1. Develop donor and new market engagement strategies and associated implementation plans
2. Engage internal and external senior stakeholders, influencing as needed to ensure that your team can maximise all opportunities.
3. Engage, build and manage relationships with targeted donors in new selected markets. Coordinate efforts with other team members responsible for income generation from Trusts and Foundations, corporate donors, and high-net worth donors.
4. Lead a comprehensive donor scoping and mapping exercise for donors in targeted new market. Continuously, update this mapping document based on engagement with prospective donors.
5. Identify and track relevant upcoming funding opportunities – through advance intelligence gathering, partner relationships, and other available resources
6. Provide grant management oversight on portfolio of grants funded by new Market donors and serve as primarily focal point for donor communications. 

About You:

To be successful in this role you will need:

1. Postgraduate degree in international development, sustainable livelihoods, humanitarianism, programme management, or equivalent.
2. Understanding of development programmes design, implementation and evaluation.
3. Knowledge of overseas markets and/or experience of successfully fundraising in a different market to the UK. Experience with Middle Eastern Donors is highly desirable.
4. Experience of successfully fundraising and dealing with institutional donors and international donors, with a focus on Trusts and Foundations.
5. Excellent technical skills in writing, editing, formatting, research, negotiation, and verbal communications.
6. Excellent networking and influencing skills, both internal and external. Specifically experience of supporting cultural change within an organisation, influencing sideways and upwards to gain buy in and active support from senior staff as needed.

Job purpose:

As a key member of Saferworld's senior leadership team, the Director of Finance and Operations will be instrumental in helping to shape the organisation's strategic direction. The role will strive to ensure financial sustainability, and the embedding of a business partnering approach to achieve Saferworld’s mission. This post-holder will provide strategic guidance and hands-on oversight of all critical financial and contractual aspects of our operations, and lead other key organisational functions, such as security and IT systems, enhancing resource management efficiency and organisational effectiveness. The Director will assess and optimise business processes and controls ensuring they are rooted in our strategy, identify and mitigate risks, and foster a culture of continuous improvement and sustainability.

Key responsibilities:

· Provide strategic leadership on financial strategy and management.

· Advise and support the CEO and Board on all financial matters, including risk management

· Oversee the organisation’s finance systems (including SUN), policies, and processes.

· Oversee global operational activities, such as insurance, procurement, ICT systems and relevant policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with organisational goals and maintaining global impact.

· Oversee global security efforts, encompassing physical and cyber aspects, to safeguard organisational assets and data.

· Provide inspirational leadership to foster the development of high-performing teams guided by strategic objectives and a shared sense of purpose.

· Manage a team of approximately 7 staff, providing managerial support and guidance to the team.

· Contribute to the organisation's overall development and operational management as an integral member of the Senior Management Team.

Person specification

Knowledge, qualifications and experience

• Accountancy qualifications, preferably CIMA, ACA and ACCA, and a clear understanding of Charity Fund accounting (SORP 2008 and the Charities Act 2003)
• Extensive experience in financial management and interdepartmental budgeting in a senior leadership position in an international organisation (preferable and international charity/non-for-profit).
• In-depth understanding of the complexity of overseeing and managing finances in an international context, particularly in contexts of conflict and/or war, including complexities of banking, tax, cash-flow management, exchange rate fluctuations and impact on budgets and forecasts, financial reporting, legal compliance, and transferring of funds to civil society and community-based organisation within different contexts, including conflict-affected areas.
• Senior leadership experience within the charity/not-for-profit sector and an understanding of costing funding bids and ensuring financial reporting systems meet funder requirements
• Experience of engaging and working with diverse funding streams including institutional donors, commercial contracts and Trust and Foundations and multiple currencies and geographic jurisdictions,
• Experience of working with a business partnering approach to achieve with others joint goals.
• An understanding and experience of project management delivery across an organisation, including an ability and willingness to undertake 'hands-on' tasks, such as preparing budgets, cash flows and other financial planning, management and control processes if required
• Operational experience in overseeing and supporting IT systems, especially in financial systems development – experience with the SUN system is especially desirable

About you

As a Supporter Services Officer you’ll be part of a busy team delivering an outstanding multi-channel contact service to Practical Action’s existing and potential supporters and donors. You will have a passion for people and will always be looking to go the extra mile to help others.

Previous experience of processing financial transactions and delivering high levels of customer service is essential and you’ll enjoy talking to supporters over the telephone, via email or letter. You’ll be a real team player and be able to work closely with colleagues in the Supporter Experience and Stewardship team and the wider Supporter Experience and Digital Division.

This is a demanding role that requires high levels of supporter relationship management, engagement and dynamism as well as an attention to detail, especially when it comes to income processing and database management. Our supporters are really important to us which is why we want to do everything we can to make their experience of being part of the Practical Action team a positive one. Our Supporter Services Team work tirelessly to deliver the highest level of service possible to our supporters at all points of contact, including email, phone, and postal channels. So whether it’s processing donations or answering enquiries, our aim is to make sure our supporters know how vital they are to us and for them to feel valued.

Key Working Relationships

The post-holder will report directly to the Supporter Experience Manager and will regularly collaborate with the rest of the Supporter Experience, Insight, Trusts and Major Donor and Digital teams. The post-holder will be expected to liaise effectively with other staff and teams across the Marketing Directorate.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Supporter Relationship Management

• To provide the best possible experience for our supporters, at all points of contact, including email, phone and postal channels.
• To keep informed and up to date about all relevant activities of Practical Action in the countries of operation, retaining and managing information needed to respond to supporters.
• To make outbound telephone calls and emails as required to new supporters, follow up queries, verify details or thank donors, acting as an ambassador for Supporter Services and Practical Action at all times.

Income Processing / Database Management

• To deal with incoming and outgoing post, all donations made online via the Practical Action website and other charitable giving platforms, ensuring all donations are handled accurately and in line with agreed procedures.
• To process cash donations effectively and accurately onto our database. 
• To produce and send out letters of acknowledgement to supporters, personalising these communications appropriately.
• To set up Direct Debits/Standing Orders, handle upgrades and other changes to committed gifts, issuing appropriate communications to supporters.
• To accurately process and commit Direct Debit claims.
• To manage Gift Aid on supporter records. This will include setting up new declarations, ending and cancelling declarations and sending out notifications to supporters.
• To deal with new supporters’ welcome communications.
• To liaise with supporters regarding cancellation of donations.
• To update supporter information on the database such as personal details, communication preferences, and other indications of interest or activities to ensure that all our donor information is up to date.
• To undertake manual data entry where required, and to work to avoid the need for duplication of data entry, and ensure automation where possible.
• To pull information required, download and process third party donations ensuring that they are compliant with GDPR.

Compliance

• To keep abreast of all legislation relating to charitable giving such as PCI DSS, Institute of Fundraising guidelines and best practice, Data Protection and Gift Aid Regulations.
• To ensure data is managed to appropriate standards of data protection and security.
• To be aware of and consistently using organisational policies and procedures

Team Working

• To undertake and participate on projects as directed by the Supporter Experience Manager.
• To work closely with the team to review and improve practices and procedures, implementing positive changes and improving efficiency.
• To contribute to organisational meetings e.g. Stand Up, team away days etc.
• To be proactive in joining cross functional working groups.
• To work closely with the finance and fundraising teams to ensure that all processes are working to the highest standard.
• To undertake other tasks that may be reasonably requested by the Supporter Experience Manager and Head of Supporter Experience and Digital.

• Relevant experience in a customer or supporter service environment with experience of processing financial transactions and using a CRM database.
• Educated to GCSE level or equivalent, including English and Mathematics

You will be responsible for supporting the strategic development of our publications, including journals and an open research platform. They will be responsible for generating high-quality content in our titles and support the ongoing movement toward open science. The post holder will ensure we support the microbiology community in our publishing activities, working closely with colleagues, external stakeholders with microbiologists in academia, industry, and infection science environments.

The Publishing Editor will also support and manage editors and editorial boards, monitoring performance and running recruitment as and where required.

Youth Futures Foundation is the What Works Centre for youth employment. We exist to address the significant disparities in youth employment for marginalised groups. We want to ensure that all young people can access and keep good quality jobs. Youth Futures was founded in 2019 as an independent, not-for-profit organisation with funding from dormant assets to drive systemic change by:

• Giving grants to organisations that provide employment support to young people so that we can generate compelling evidence with high quality impact evaluation methodologies
• Driving evidence-based change in policy and working with employers and practitioners to improve practice. We help to connect and empower those who are commissioning and delivering youth employment services.

The Senior Economist / Evidence and Evaluation Manager will work in a dedicated Impact and Evidence directorate, working at the heart of Youth Futures Foundation.

You will be central to our ambition to create the largest repository of robust evidence and evaluations of what works to support young people into good jobs. In the directorate, you will support the Heads of Evaluation, the Deputy Director and Director to ensure all Youth Futures’ investments are designed to provide robust evidence of what works. Primarily, you will support the Heads of Evaluation and the Deputy Director in the design of new impact evaluations and lead on their commissioning and management.

Our priority for this post holder is to work on our What Works Programme 2, which designs and funds impact evaluations, including (Randomised Controlled Trials and Quasi-Experimental designs) of youth employment interventions.

The Senior Economist / Evidence and Evaluation Manager will also contribute to the development of our suite of ‘evaluation architecture’, enhancing our data infrastructure and administrative dataset access, as well as methodological guidance and standards. These will ensure that, as the What Works Centre for youth employment, our evidence is as credible and useful as possible.

You will additionally support other aspects of the Evidence and Evaluation team’s commissioning. This may include developing policies and processes supporting effective evaluation methodology design, working closely with Youth Futures’ Programmes and Grants directorate. You will also work with our Policy and Communications and Employer Engagement directorates to ensure that all evaluation and evidence outputs are high quality and make clear, practical and impactful recommendations for practice and policy.

The Oasis Hub Waterloo team are currently looking for a Foodbank Trusts & Corporate Fundraiser to raise much-needed funds for our Waterloo Foodbank and other strategic partners.

The successful applicant would be responsible for writing funding bids for trusts, and also developing relationships with local businesses, to increase our unrestricted corporate income.

Some of the duties of this newly created role include:

· Research and identify potential short- and long-term funders from among grant making trusts and statutory bodies.

· To prepare written applications in co-operation with and on behalf of Waterloo Foodbank projects and ensure suitable budgets are prepared.

· Develop relationships with corporate organisations that align with our values and vision that would be open to an approach for financial support.

The successful applicant will also need to demonstrate:

· Proven successful experience of fundraising.

· Understanding of the statutory and grant-making funding sector.

· Experience of researching and developing targeted proposals for presentation to prospective supporters.

· Experience of fundraising from corporates.

· Excellent written skills including writing persuasive copy for funding proposals.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Fundraising and Partnerships Manager

Job Purpose: To develop fundraising proposals and raise funds from trusts and foundations. To raise funds for Action Village India through our trading activities and events.

Reports to: Executive Director

Salary: £30,000 pro rata

Hours:21 hours per week (equivalent to 3 working days) – ideally including Wednesday and Thursday.

By agreement there is an option to work an additional 11 events days over the full year. This is related to WOMAD and our other events. This is revised annually based on the agreed workplan.

FUNDRAISING

1.1 Fundraising Management and Donor Liaison:

• In line with Action Village India’s project funding priorities, research and develop fundraising proposals for new and ongoing projects to be submitted to major donors, trusts and foundations as well as other appropriate sources.
• Keep up to date spreadsheets and databases tracking donor deadlines, the status of applications and reporting deadlines.
• Ensure that material from partners for monitoring reports is developed as needed and work to ensure that reports are submitted as required and to agreed deadlines.
• Support the Executive Director with fundraising and reporting to individuals and trusts.

1.2Events

• Plan and manage, in collaboration with the Action Village India team, the events for the year
• Attend Action Village India fundraising events (evenings and weekends as agreed with the team)
• Attend WOMAD festival and support the Action Village India team with the successful running of the Action Village India stall and presence at the festival.

1.3 Individual Giving

• Planning and delivering our regular appeals and engagement communications.
• Develop new ways to engage our supporters’ base and grow income from Individual Giving products.
• Build engaging journeys to retain existing supporters and develop more supporters.

1.4 Communications and Development Management

• Create communications content that inspires supporter engagement and promotes loyalty.
• Contribute relevant material and content to Action Village India newsletters.
• To design and produce communication materials – Annual Report and Appeals
• Supply project information to support appeals to individual donors, and at public events including WOMAD; co-organise the exhibition at WOMAD.
• Work with partners to generate engaging communications and marketing materials about the progress of their work, including visual content.
• Work with partners to generate material on which to base awareness-raising and educational work in the UK, where appropriate.
• Manage the creation of the organisation’s content, for example, leaflets, webpages and annual reports.

• Ideal minimum of three years proven experience in fundraising from trusts and foundations, events and individual giving.

The Hummingbird Project is a youth-centred organisation that aims to provide trauma-informed services and promote youth-led action that is underpinned by our shared belief in human rights.

Our services support young refugees, between the ages of 14 and 25, many of whom arrived in the UK as unaccompanied children. The project is based in Brighton and works with those living in the city and across East and West Sussex.

As well as our direct services for young people, we actively campaign for the rights and protection of young refugees at a local and national level.

Our vision is a community standing together for the rights and protection of young refugees.

The Youth Service Manager will play a key role in ensuring services are delivered to a high standard and that the young people we support have the care and services they need, as well as a voice in decisions that affect them.

The role incorporates line management for service leads, including support and advice where individual cases are particularly challenging and/or complex. It will support the overall management and the delivery of our high-quality services through regular supervision and coaching of project leads, as well as contributing to developing new services and monitoring and evaluating activities.

1 SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

1.1         Office Management

• Oversee the day to day running of the office, including communication with enquirers and supporters.
• Ensure office is compliant with Health and Safety requirements. Ensure compliance with data protection requirements.
• Ensure resources, IT and communication equipment is appropriate and available for staff and volunteer needs.
• Maintain office equipment, stationery and supplies.
• Be the point of contact for the landlord and any other tenants in the shared building.

1.2       Finance (record keeping)

• Managing Petty Cash
• Recording financial expenditure and income from events for the book-keeper
• Recording donations both online and offline
• Maintaining records by keeping the scanned copies of receipts and payments in the designated files both offline and online.

1.3       Administrative support to Fundraising events

• Administration of sponsorship fundraising events – registration of runners/riders/walkers and their donations.
• Helping set up donation pages for sponsorship online.

1.4       Communications

• Using online tools to design and distribute Action Village India’s e-newsletter.
• Uploading information on Action Village India’s website.
• Maintaining and servicing the donor and members’ database.
• Correspondence with supporters and donors.
• Production and printing of leaflets, advertisements and maintaining records of appeals.
• Distribution of mailings for appeals, newsletters and to our membership – including email groups.
• Managing all donations to the organisation, including CAF, standing orders, Just Giving and other internet sites and correspondence with individual donors.
