This is an immediate start, part-time (30hrs per week), London based hybrid (1 day in office bi-weekly) role for around 3-months. As the Digital Assistant your role will be to support the maintenance, development, reporting and monitoring of the organisation’s website.

Main duties:

Create visually appealing pages using the WordPress Gutenberg page builder in collaboration with colleagues, providing guidance on layout and content presentation.

Implement content updates on the WordPress CMS, ensuring the site is dynamic and up to date, including refreshing hero banners based on agreed priorities.

Study site analytics and make recommendations for UX improvements to address user pain points.

Ensure accessibility compliance, regularly monitoring the site for accessibility, making fixes, and suggesting improvements.

Troubleshoot bugs or errors under the guidance of the HDE and escalate to the web development agency when necessary.

Conduct quality assurance using tools like Google Search Console, performance checks, and broken link checker software.

Advise colleagues on on-page SEO, using Yoast to improve page rankings.

Provide support to web editors by troubleshooting upload issues and assisting with the creation and approval of web resources to ensure adherence to style guidelines and upload procedures.

Onboard new web editors, giving training sessions and updating the web editor’s guide and style guide when necessary.

Source and edit photography for news stories and web pages, maintaining an organized image folder structure with properly labelled and captioned images.

Assist with monthly website reports, using tools such as Matomo.

Review and action web contact requests, providing timely support with requests based on HDE guidance.

Support digital development projects as requested by the HDE.

Maintain the CRM by supporting data updates as necessary.

Process supplier invoices and assist with administrative tasks related to digital projects.

Supporting someone at the end of their life is not just about providing medical care. Individuals and communities add an important layer of extra support allowing the normal and every day to continue. As part of the Compassionate Communities agenda, our Hospice Neighbour project brings together our patients with people from their local community who provide simple social and practical support for a few hours each week.

The Hospice Neighbour Coordinator role makes this happen! The successful candidate will be responsible for developing this important service. They’ll act as a single point of contact providing timely advice and guidance for project volunteers, facilitate bi-monthly volunteer support group sessions and build relationships with both internal and external referral partners. Pete’s Dragons is an award-winning charity which provides postvention support to those affected by suicide.

As the Charity continues to grow we need to increase the number of Suicide Bereavement Specialists who provide the Charity's postvention offering across our Devon offices.

Job Summary

The role of the Suicide Bereavement Specialist is to provide a proactive and timely community-based support to individuals, families, groups and/or communities who have experienced a suicide loss.

The hours for this role are flexible, with 24 hours/week being the minimum.

*Please note: Ability to travel and your own car is an essential part of this role.

Main duties

Support

Offer a sensitive, compassionate and needs-led service to individuals, families, groups or communities affected or bereaved by suicide.

Offer rapid response (within 48 hours), information and support to individuals, families, groups or communities who have been bereaved by suicide, in their home or other agreed settings, and follow with ongoing practical and emotional support; mainly through non-clinical interventions that promote coping and resilience so our beneficiaries can face and overcome their traumatic bereavement.

Exercise good judgement in assessing each case and establishing the most appropriate steps for ongoing support, signposting or onward referral.

Co-ordinate where necessary, a safeguarding response in line with local practices and services to ensure that an individual is safe and has an organised package of care to ensure they survive their crisis in the most helpful manner for them.

Produce an area-specific suicide bereavement resources pack to include all relevant information on support services and processes following a suicide death.

Develop strong relationships with key agencies and first responders in the area to establish ways to connect bereaved individuals in a timely and helpful manner (e.g. police, emergency services, clergy, child services, coroners, funeral directors).

Contribute to critical incident responses where appropriate and take an active role where possible.

Assist with the early identification of potential suicide connected deaths and liaise with the Pete’s Dragons suicide surveillance team and appropriate stakeholders and relevant agencies, to ensure timely and appropriate coordinated responses.

Undertake collaborative multidisciplinary work to uphold safety and support for the communities of need (e.g. working with school staff, mental health staff, peers, or family members) to ensure they are contained by well-informed communities.

Administration

Work internally with the Senior Management Team, suicide bereavement colleagues, placement counsellors and therapists and in conjunction with external agencies to ensure parity of service across the whole of the County of Devon.

Maintain timely administrative updates on the Pete’s Dragons’ case management system.

Maintain an effective and efficient diary of appointments.

Participate in the implementation and promotion of the Devon Suicide Prevention Implementation Plan and understand how the role of both the Suicide Bereavement Specialist and Pete’s Dragons fits within it.

Contribute to training/awareness raising in suicide bereavement.

Gather and report on all qualitative and quantitative data required in relation to monthly activities and casework.

Adhere to all Pete’s Dragons’ policies and procedures and ensure security and confidentiality of all related data.

The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity exists to support the pioneering work of The Royal Marsden, a world-leading and internationally renowned cancer centre. Our support enables the hospital to change the lives of cancer patients, and their families. around the world.
We raise funds to support life-saving cancer research, the construction of new world-class facilities, personalised treatment and care and investment in state-of-the-art equipment.
We are a very ambitious organisation which has gone through transformational growth over the past five years and exceeded our fundraising targets. However, with one in two of us expected to develop some form of cancer, it is essential that we go even further in our fundraising efforts to support the essential work of The Royal Marsden. Therefore, we have recently launched our most ambitious strategy yet, that will see us raising at least £215m over the next 5 years.

To support us on our growth journey we now have an exciting opportunity to join us as our permanent Head of HR. Reporting into the Associate Director of Corporate Services and Grants, you will be the HR professional lead for the organisation.

Key deliverables:

• Act as a strategic business partner and trusted advisor to senior leaders, developing excellent working relationships with the Senior Leadership Team, providing sound senior level HR advice, using data and insights to inform decision-making and drive performance.
• Effective delivery of day-to-day HR management and oversight, including HR Policies, performance management, staff surveys, pay and benefits and employee engagement, whist inspiring any direct reports and external consultants to deliver exceptional performance.
• The continuous development and management of a Learning and Development programme which delivers on the needs of a high performing fundraising organisation.
• Embedding EDI into all aspects of the management and development of people, to ensure we are able to attract, engage and retain a diverse and inclusive workforce which reflects the diversity of the cancer community we support.

Post: Communications and Marketing Officer

Responsible to: Director  

Salary: £27,344 FTE (Scale 6, point 18)

Actual Salary: £14,583.47 (20 hours pro rata)

Hours: Part time 20 hours (over 3 days per week) may include evenings

Holidays: 24 days pro rata per year plus public holidays

Pension: 5% employer + 3% employee

Fixed term contract: 12 months from date of start, continuation subject to funding.  

Main purpose of the post:

• To work with the Director and SLDAS Board of Trustees on the delivery of the charity's Communications strategy as we look to grow our portfolio and engagement with supporters. 

• This role will develop online and offline communications to maximise digital, marketing and media opportunities; in line with SLDAS Communications Strategy, Objectives and wider strategic objectives.

• This is a role that offers you real scope, challenge and reward and the chance to contribute and enhance an organisation supporting survivors of domestic abuse.

About the role 

The new Executive Director will be responsible for leading the organisation in developing a new strategy to guide us through the next phase growth, while leading the team through an new political climate.

Grants fundraising is of particular importance to the role, and the successful candidate will be the lead person responsible for securing funding for our campaigning and organising work and maintaining strong relationships with donors. 

Our Executive Director will lead an experienced team and an organisation that deeply values collaborative working, consultative decision making, and a commitment to transparency. 

About you

We are looking for someone who is passionate about addressing health, climate, racial and economic injustice and the health impacts of conflict and militarisation, and who understands the vital role that health professionals have in making the connections between these issues and working for peace, to make the world a better, fairer and safer place.

You will have an understanding of the national and international framework within which Medact operates, and you will be able to demonstrate that your values and politics align with those of our organisation. Ideally you will have experience of working in health or with health workers, so that you have an appreciation of the culture within which they work and the potential of their contribution.

You will have strong leadership skills so that, valuing the collaborative approach of our team and respecting varying views, you are able to arrive at clear decisions. You will also have a track record in fundraising in similar fields and a good knowledge of a range of potential supporters.
