Individual Giving Fundraising is at the heart of the Trust’s Fundraising Strategy, and with ongoing investment to grow our supporter database and accelerate income generation, it's a truly exciting time to join our Fundraising Team.
The Direct Marketing Executive will be a key role within the Acquisition & Development Team, supporting the team and its activities as a whole, but also owning and becoming the expert in specific areas in line with the Fundraising Strategy. Specific areas of focus currently are around digital acquisition, and with a particular focus on ensuring detailed tracking and reporting are in place for all campaigns across the team.
This role sits within the Individual Giving and Legacy team reporting to the Development Lead. It also works closely with the wider Acquisition & Development Manager, the wider Fundraising Division, and cross functionally with other teams within the organisation.

Overall purpose
The Philanthropy Manager will manage and steward a portfolio of funders and donors – across trusts and foundations, statutory sources and major donors – to secure annual and multi-year gifts in support of Breaking Barriers’ vision. You will have a strong track record of high-value relationship management and fundraising, ideally specialising in Trusts, Statutory, Major Donor fundraising or a related area. We are looking for someone who can successfully secure and steward gifts of 5 figures and above – so evidence of stewarding high-value relationships and high-quality written skills are key. You will collaborate with additional fundraisers across Trusts, Statutory, Corporate and Major Gifts to coordinate approaches and maximise opportunities across all functions.
We welcome applicants with relevant transferable skills from other sectors and other areas of fundraising but a strong knowledge of the fundamentals of grant fundraising is essential. You will also lead our small legacy programme, which has huge ambition for growth; maximising the opportunities available to encourage new and current supporters to leave a gift in their Will. You will be responsible for any legacy administration, working alongside internal and external parties to ensure that all estates are correctly administered, and that we realise the full value of the legacies left to Cure Parkinson’s.
You will be working with supporters to answer their questions about legacy and in-memory giving, and working with the next of kin to ensure that their loved one's legacy is cherished.
We are looking for a creative thinker that has enthusiasm and motivation to lead these areas of work. You will have strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, as well as being a collaborative team member. You will be supported by the Head of Public Fundraising to achieve transformational results across Individual Giving and Legacies. Prostate Cancer UK supports all dads, brothers, partners and friends, by funding life-changing research, campaigning for change and providing much needed support.
You will be joining a newly created team within the fundraising directorate and will work alongside the high-value teams to provide them with the highest quality of funding propositions and the engagement & stewardship materials required to create transformative partnerships with businesses, HNWI’s, trusts & foundations. This is a crucial role in not only supporting an ambitious high value fundraising strategy, but also in developing Prostate Cancer UK’s first Major Appeal by creating the Appeal case for support.
To be successful in the role of Proposition Development Manager, you will need:
- Specialist knowledge of high-value fundraising
- Demonstrable experience building compelling cases for support, bids and partnership concepts for major donors, companies, and/or grant funders
- Ability to translate complex information into simple concise and compelling communications in a range of formats

Senior Legal Advisor (Procurement & Fundraising)

We have an exciting full-time, permanent opportunity for a Senior Legal Advisor to join our Legal Services Team. A small, dedicated team of Lawyers central to the work of Mencap across England, Wales and Northern Ireland. We work closely with Mencap’s Teams and Directorates across the organisation to ensure that they operate safely and securely, and providing advice on complex issues.
At Mencap, we offer flexibility about where the role is undertaken. For this role, a presence in Peterborough is preferable where possible, but the individual would be required to attend team meetings in our Peterborough office once a month. Occasionally, it will be necessary to travel nationwide.
The Senior Legal Advisor will provide high quality commercial contracts and documentation, advice and assistance to support all Directorates across Mencap, as part of Mencap’s internal procurement process and Fundraising Teams.
The Senior Legal Advisor will be required to work with different Teams and Directorates across Mencap to draft suitable and robust commercial contracts (including IT contracts); and standard terms and conditions; or review third party’s contracts and terms. Similarly, will be required to negotiate contracts and provide advice for the Fundraising Teams, and ensuring regulatory compliance and radar scanning for changes in law which impacts fundraising.
The Senior Legal Advisor will represent the Legal Services Team on a number of Panels and Committees, such as the Procurement Panel, and would be the lead point of contact with the Legacy Team.
Qualifications:
For this role you would need to be a Solicitor or Barrister qualified to practise in England (or comparable jurisdiction) preferably holding a practising certificate. Previous in-house experience would be viewed positively.
Essential key skills, experience & abilities required for this role:
· 5+ years PQE and experience in commercial contract law
· Excellent drafting and negotiation skills
· Solid awareness of GDPR provisions
· Experience and good technical expertise in contract law and IT agreements
