The Brent Centre for Young People is the leading mental health charity for young people in Northwest London, helping over 700 young people a year with a wide range of issues. Fundraising at BCYP
BCYP has historically been very successful in raising funds from non-statutory sources, particularly trusts and foundations, and is grateful to hold a number of established relationships with grant- makers. IKWRO –Women’s Rights Organisation (IKWRO) is an award-winning charity founded (as the Iranian and Kurdish Women’s Rights Organisation) in 2002. IKWRO is a registered charity which provides advice and support to Middle Eastern, North African and Afghan women and girls living in the UK, who have experienced, or are at risk of all forms of “honour” based abuse, including; forced marriage, child marriage and female genital mutilation (FGM), or domestic abuse.
We work with women and girls of all ages, including lesbian women, bisexual women and trans women. We offer services in Kurdish, Farsi, Arabic, Dari, Pashto, Turkish and English. IKWRO offers free advice, advocacy and counselling services and operates a refuge which provides safe accommodation and specialist support to single women at risk of “honour” based abuse, forced marriage and domestic abuse.

Key Fundraising Responsibilities
- Develop communications content that will invigorate our existing donors and inspire new ones leading to increased giving by individuals to IPWSO.

The Fundraising Officer supports the generation of income, principally for Groundwork activities across the East of England. Working with business development colleagues and delivery staff you will help to identify income sources, approach funders and partners, develop and write bids, and contribute towards the annual income of the Trust.
Salary range : £26,182 - £30,832 pro rata (depending on relevant experience)
Term: Min 22.5 hours – Max 25 hours per week, permanent
Location: East of England, with opportunities for home working
In this role, you will monitor the external funding environment to identify suitable sources of charitable trust and foundation funding and tender opportunities for projects and programmes of activity. You will use your communication skills to write high quality, persuasive copy that brings the charities work to life for potential funders, such as charitable trusts, BIG lottery, local authorities and central government. Ideally, you will have experience of successful grant funding from Trusts, foundations, lottery distributors or similar, together with demonstrable experience of undertaking high quality research. The ability to quickly develop a detailed understanding of wide ranging and complex topics is essential as is a genuine interest and enthusiasm towards fundraising work.

This role is perfect for someone progressing their corporate fundraising career, but not yet ready to specialise in account management or new business. A priority will be to ensure that we really support and value our existing partners, but you will also have the opportunity to research and develop new opportunities with the Head of New Business. Valuing the importance of the day-to-day routine of administration, data entry etc will also be central to this role and an important responsibility.
To support existing corporate partners, creating opportunities to grow and develop their engagement and support. To support the Head of new Business in the development of new partnership opportunities. This role is about shaping and growing corporate fundraising income and so priorities may change and there could be juggling of priorities, so it’s important that this is an environment that you have experienced before and can thrive in. You will have an innate desire to listen, to learn and to grow in this role.
You’ll be successful in this role if you have a creative and purposeful mindset, with a desire to make the most of opportunities while also being able to ruthlessly prioritise. Valuing and developing relationships will be second nature to you, and written and verbal communication will also be strengths that you apply to the highest standards. Experience in researching and developing potential new partnership prospects, activities and campaigns are also important as well as the ability to work both collaboratively and independently on your own initiative.
