We’re seeking a dynamic Philanthropy Manager to join our new Business and Partnership Development function. This is a brand-new role for UKCEH, key to identifying and nurturing long-term relationships with charitable trusts and foundations as well as donors. From managing a portfolio of six-figure research projects to leading the development of public donation campaigns, your role is vital for the development and delivery of our strategy for engagement with philanthropic organisations and individuals.

Your main responsibilities will include:

• Lead the development and delivery of UKCEH’s strategy for engagement with philanthropic organisations and individuals

• Collaborate with other departments within UKCEH to address potential challenges associated with philanthropic funding (including financial constraints and contractual requirements etc.) 
• With colleagues in the Business and Partnership Development Function, produce the assets and deliver the engagements required to raise our profile to these funders 
• Oversee the ongoing management of our relationships with philanthropic funders 

We are looking for someone with a track record in fundraising, a passion for environmental issues, and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders to overcome issues and drive funding success.

For the role of Philanthropy Manager, we’re looking for somebody who: 

• Has a track record of securing six-figure funding from trusts and foundations for research projects 
• Is experienced in developing and nurturing relationships with different profiles of philanthropic funders, such as charitable trusts, high-net-worth individuals or major donors 
• Has proven business and financial acumen to assess strategic opportunities
• Has strong English writing skills for developing high quality funding proposals for philanthropic audiences and reports 
• Has persuasive presentation skills, able to influence decision-making 
• Has strong communication and networking skills
• Has a keen interest in the environment and environmental issues 
• Is keen to travel and engage with philanthropic funders both in the UK and internationally 
• Shows initiative and can work in a team as well as independently
• Is proficient in using software packages including Microsoft Office and CRM systems (like HubSpot, Salesforce or equivalent)

Responsibilities

Strategy

• Working with the Board to articulate a clear and compelling vision for growth with realistic and measurable goals for scaling our program and social impact.
• Communicating effectively between the Board of Trustees and our team, and ensuring daily activities align with the organisation's strategic plan and KPI’s.
• Working with the Board of Trustees to mitigate organisational risks and enable decisions that will protect against major business disruption
• Ensuring business plans progress efficiently ensuring required resources are available.
• Developing effective collaborations with VCSE organisations, the NHS, Public Health and community partners to provide our members access to a wide range of services.

Stability

• Overseeing the development and optimisation of the organisation's infrastructure, including technology, facilities, and human resources, to support increased capacity.
• Overseeing the robust financial management of our finances to ensure long-term sustainability, compliance, and efficiency.
• Developing and executing a comprehensive fundraising strategy that builds and nurtures strong relationships with existing and prospective funders.
• Building capacity by recruiting top talents as Trustees, staff or volunteers, offer training and support to equip them with the skills needed and to develop their leadership skills.
• Supporting our staff team with professional development, good working conditions, supportive management, and regular performance appraisals.

Scalability

• Ensuring evidence-based systems for monitoring and evaluating the impact of our service are implemented, using service user data and feedback to make informed decisions and adjustments.
• Writing high quality impact reports that are comprehensive, transparent, and well-structured to effectively communicate outcomes and social return on investment.

You will be supported by and work alongside our Artistic Director who will be stepping down from her current CEO role.

Annual Holiday - 29 days including statutory holidays (pro rata)

Responsibilities

Administrative support:

• Assist the Production Manager with mailing specifications, collating internal information, creating purchase orders, and related administration.
• Support the Media Manager in arranging regional coverage for overseas staff in the UK.
• Provide administrative, planning, and organisational support to the Head of Communications and other team members.
• Administer and curate the archive of MAF documents.
• Work with the HR team to collect and store data processing consent forms.

Scheduling and Planning:

• Update and maintain the organisation’s print and digital communications schedule in collaboration with audience managers.

Content Creation:

• Contribute to digital communications including website content and social media.
• Assist in creating monthly print and digital communication documents at design and proofing stages.
• Support design tasks such as picture editing and layout.
• Create subtitles for digital content.
• Participate in creative idea and planning sessions

Updates and Research:

• Monitor staff blogs for potential stories and produce a weekly roundup of social media posts.
• Monitor external websites and news sources for relevant stories and brief teams accordingly.
• Provide research support as required.

Media Library Management:

• Upload and remove media assets, ensuring accurate metadata and compliance with MAF procedures.
• Support staff with acquiring and transferring assets from overseas programmes.

Terms and Conditions

• Location: This is a hybrid role with two days at MAF UK, 1st Floor Castle House, Castle Hill Avenue, Folkestone, Kent, CT20 2TQ.  One day per week will be spent at our Operations Centre, MAF International, Henwood, Ashford, TN24 8DH and the other two days can be from home. 
• Working Hours: This is a full time role (at least 36 hours per week, with 1 hour for lunch daily unpaid) but requiring some flexibility on the successful candidate to work additional hours occasionally some of which could be outside the normal business hours.   Hours should be agreed with line manager.

What the job involves

We're looking for a Proposition Development Manager to join a newly created team within our Fundraising directorate. The team have been created to work alongside the high value teams (Philanthropy and Partnerships) to provide them with the highest quality donor research, funding propositions and stewardship materials required to create transformative partnerships with businesses, high net worth individuals, trusts and foundations. 

As the Proposition Development Manager, you’ll play a pivotal role in this team, supporting our ambitious high value fundraising strategy and the development of Prostate Cancer UK’s first Major Appeal. You'll take the lead in developing the Appeal case for support, and crafting funding propositions. Collaborating closely with our high-value fundraisers, you'll develop bespoke funding propositions ranging from six to seven figures, ensuring they resonate with potential donors. 

Your expertise will be central in guiding our high-value teams on creating impactful funding proposals, supported by consistent access to organisational priorities and plans. You'll also establish an 'Information Bank' of materials to support fundraising efforts. Ensuring compliance with data protection regulations, you'll maintain the integrity of our data records in alignment with GDPR and organisational policies.

What we want from you

We’re looking for a fundraiser who understands high value fundraising. You’ll have experience in building compelling cases for support, bids and partnership concepts with major donors, companies, and potentially grant funders. Working in collaboration with our high value fundraisers, Research and Support and Influencing teams to create engaging and bespoke propositions. 

You’ll be an excellent communicator, often translating complex and technical information to a range of audiences and stakeholders in multiple formats (e.g. proposals, presentations or web copy). Your exceptional relationship-building, influencing, and negotiation skills will enable you to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels.

- Family mediation and support, bringing families back together.
- Work with a community of professionals to support the right outcomes.
- Problem solving together and debriefs sharing experiences and learning as a team.
- Support clients with repair issues and repayment agreements for rent arrears.
- Carry out room inspections, health and safety checks and make rooms homely for new residents.

It is an exciting time to join the Team as you’ll also be involved in planning and running their extra-curricular workshops which range from sport activities such as basketball, table tennis and boxing, to relaxation sessions including yoga and meditation. We are now seeking an experienced, creative and enthusiastic Philanthropy and Partnership Team Leader to join our team to support the development of relationships with high-net-worth individuals, a wide variety of trusts/foundations and corporate supporters. In this role you will be responsible for managing a high performing and highly motivated team, to engage and enhance relationships with individuals, grant making trusts, corporate and institutional donors delivering against ambitious income targets. 

Responsibilities Include

Strategic Planning

• To work with the Head of Philanthropy and Partnerships to develop and deliver a Major Gifts strategy with a focus on increasing income to meet ambitious funding targets, and to deliver the strategy through annual strategic planning, setting clear targets and KPIs focussing on year on year growth
• To lead on a departmental strategy for generating a pipeline of high-net-worth individuals and major gifts prospects

 Portfolio Management

• To work closely with the Head of Philanthropy and Partnerships, the CEO, Trustees and other stakeholders on prospect identification, cultivation and asks
• To personally manage a small portfolio of high-level donors, including institutional funders to secure five and six figure gifts and ensure their long-term commitment to the charity.

 Team Management

• To oversee the operation of the Philanthropy and Partnerships team and to have direct line management responsibility for a team of four Relationship Managers, to ensure they are engaged, delivering agreed strategies, and meeting agreed financial targets
• To oversee all relevant fundraising activities, including research and analysis of current and potential prospects, ensuring that activity is data protection compliant
• To ensure the team maintains accurate records of relationships with major donors on our database, and to ensure that due diligence is carried out where required
• To over see the management of a range of events for supporters and prospects
• To support the Head of Philanthropy and Partnerships with planning and strategy as required

Income Generation

• Aligned to the organisational strategy, designing and delivering Duchenne UK’s income generation strategy, establishing a delivery plan to hit targets across a diverse range of income streams, including community fundraising, events, trusts and foundations, major donors, research and development grants and commercial income.
• Oversee the process and systems of managing funders and new business opportunities, including overseeing the charity’s CRM system (Salesforce) to support a high end and holistic approach to the account management of funders and stakeholders.
• Set, monitor and deliver annual income and expenditure targets.
• Attend meetings with funders and prospects, and networking events to uncover new opportunities, including management of Duchenne UK’s Development Board.

Scope of the Job

The Finance Officer at Alfanar will play a crucial role in delivering an effective and efficient finance function across the organization's group structure. Reporting to the Head of Finance, the Finance Officer will be supporting various financial tasks, including budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, cash and reserves management, accounting processes, and financial risk mitigation. The role requires a focus on continuous improvement, problem-solving, and development to ensure high-performance standards and exceptional finance services for Alfanar's teams.

Reports to: Head of Finance

Main Responsibilities

· Manage all receivables and payables following agreed processes and ensure timely payment.

· Prepare monthly payroll and set up salary payments

· Reconcile bank accounts on a monthly basis

· Producing Monthly Management Accounts with the help of the finance system and Excel templates.

· Review donor reports prepared by the country office for accuracy and cost allocation

· Claim gift aid on a regular basis

· Support organisation budget and proposal budget process.

· Support organisational audit process.

· Any other duties as agreed by the Head of Finance.

Financial accounting

· Be an integral part of ensuring effective and efficient financial control environment across Alfanar’s group structure

· Operate key financial controls including balance sheet schedules, intercompany and income reconciliations

● Manage the month end close procedure, including preparing journals to record the required accruals and fund transfers

● Prepare, review and analyse management accounts, seek variance explanations, prepare commentary and summaries based on budget holder responses, and ensure management understand any required actions.

● Continue to develop monthly management reports and budget Vs actual reports for budget holders.

● Work with the fundraising team to ensure that income data flows are documented, and finance and fundraising metrics are clearly defined and accurately calculated and reported

Tax, cash, risk and reserves management and group operations

● Working with the Head of Finance, manage, review and improve Alfanar’s (online) banking arrangements and relationships, across the group structure

● Prepare monthly cash flow forecasts and requirements and ensure appropriate cash management and transfers across the group structure.

● Should it be required, support with Alfanar’s registration for VAT, set up and operate the required changes to the accounting systems, and prepare and file VAT returns, including other entities within the VAT group

Qualifications & Experience

Essential

● Experience of supporting in accounting, payments, transaction processing, financial reporting, tax, and cash management with international operations ideally in a growing group.

● Experience of automating financial processes and developing  reporting functionality from accounting systems

● Knowledge and experience of using Xero or other cloud-based accounting software.

● Experience of providing financial management support/business partnering to managers/budget holders, who may not have a financial background.

Work environment

As a Social Media Officer, you will manage our social media channels, ensuring they're filled with inspiring and engaging content that connects with our wide range of audiences. You'll have the opportunity to grow our online presence and strengthen the community of supporters advocating for those affected by MND.

You will develop and publish accessible digital content that reflects our brand. You'll be 'the voice of the Association' on social media, protecting our reputation and ensuring our channels remain professional, positive, and compliant with GDPR and copyright laws.

You will collaborate with teams across the organisation to ensure coordinated and effective social media activities, whether providing full support or offering guidance. The role will also include providing support and training to staff and volunteers in their use of social media. Additionally, you will play a key role in implementing our social media strategy.

Regular monitoring of social channels, responding to engagements, and fostering positive relationships are all part of the role. You will also produce reports to measure campaign success and provide valuable insights for future planning.

Occasionally, you will be asked to provide out-of-hours social media support as part of a rota.

Hybrid Working Expectations: 1 day per week office attendance

(Flexibility to attend the office more regularly on occasion may be required to meet business needs.)

What are we looking for?

Significant experience managing social media platforms in a professional setting, both through organic and paid techniques. Excellent written communication skills to create engaging content that speaks to diverse audiences while maintaining our brand's tone of voice.

Ability to handle multiple tasks, balancing deadlines and priorities with ease. You will also need to work well with others, building strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.

You'll support graphic design and video editing. Knowledge of digital accessibility and an awareness of social media trends is essential. You should be comfortable using data to influence future planning and have a broad understanding of safeguarding in digital spaces.

This role will be central to ensuring our data-driven approach aligns with our goals. You'll work closely with the Head of Evidence and Impact and colleagues across the organisation to:

• strengthen our data infrastructure,
• optimise programme evaluation,
• inform our fundraising and communications efforts, and
• advocate for policy changes that benefit young people.

We're seeking a passionate and collaborative data professional who is excited about using data to drive positive change. We are a small department and this role will help bolster capacity as we embark on an exciting period of growth with our new 2024-2027 strategy cycle. 

This role is perfect for someone looking to take a step up in data management, training & information sharing.

Khulisa’s new strategy is focused on evolving our delivery approach for lasting impact. This involved making significant changes to our programme delivery and operating model. This shift towards prioritising long-term outcomes and an evolved delivery approach requires an expert Data and Insight Coordinator who can play a central role in data management and analysis, systems development, MEAL (Monitoring Evaluation Accountability and Learning), and storytelling.

Whilst this role requires proven experience of quantitative skills, we are open to candidates with limited or no experience in qualitative research. This is a varied role and there will be opportunities for fieldwork e.g. conducting interviews, facilitating and moderating focus groups, etc. We can provide training and support to help you develop the necessary qualitative skills.

The ideal candidate is someone who is passionate about data and eager to contribute to our ongoing efforts to improve our data-driven approach. If you enjoy making data fun and easy to understand, are comfortable working with stakeholders from non analytical backgrounds, and get a kick out of improving processes then get in touch.
