In the role of Individual Giving Assistant – Supporter Retention & Development at The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, you will play a key role in supporting the Individual Giving team. Your work will focus on retaining and developing relationships with supporters, ensuring they have the best possible experience with the charity. This includes managing supporter queries, processing donations, and providing sensitive and empathetic communication, particularly with those donating in memory of loved ones.
You will also help execute fundraising campaigns, contributing to the planning, proofreading of materials, and adhering to timelines and budgets.
Additionally, you’ll provide administrative support to the team, maintaining accurate records and occasionally covering reception duties, to ensure smooth day-to-day operations. This role is crucial in helping the charity achieve its ambitious fundraising goals while making a meaningful impact on the lives of cancer patients.

As a Purchase Ledger Assistant at Claire House, you will:
- Report to the Financial Accountant.
- Be responsible for the Purchase Ledger Function, including supplier payment runs, ad hoc supplier payments, and administration of the invoice and credit card systems.
- Monitor finance email boxes to ensure prompt responses and timely query resolution.
- Support the handling and counting of donations and facilitate their handover to cash collection services.
- Assist the Finance Team with daily and monthly tasks to ensure the smooth running of the department.
We are looking for someone with:
- Experience in purchase ledger and knowledge of SAGE 50 accounts.
- Understanding of accounting principles (preferably part AAT qualified).
- Strong IT skills, including a good working knowledge of Word and Excel.
- Excellent planning and organizational abilities.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to work well with individuals at all levels.
- Initiative and the ability to work independently.
- Good interpersonal skills and a commitment to Claire House’s objectives.
- A belief in the value of volunteers and a multidisciplinary approach.
- An understanding of the importance of confidentiality.

We have an exciting opportunity to join our Income Generation and Engagement Team as an Assistant Community Fundraiser!
As an Assistant Community Fundraiser, you will play an integral part in supporting the Community Fundraising team to reach their annual income target. You will oversee the running of the Edinburgh fundraising office, including stock management and managing a small team of volunteers. You will help support the team by co-ordinating supporter and volunteer communications, and attend fundraising events when required.
About You
- Experience in an office or customer facing environment
- Ability to work independently within the role, under your own initiative and cooperatively as part of the Community fundraising team.
- Excellent administration skills with a sound working knowledge of CRM databases, Windows-based software, including Word, Excel and Outlook and Teams.
- Exceptional time management and organisational skills, with experience of managing multiple projects at any given time, prioritising and meeting agreed deadlines.
- Ability to vary communication style (both written and verbal) to reflect the needs of the audience.
- Excellent attention to detail
- Knowledge and demonstrable experience of adhering to data handling/GDPR laws and codes of conduct

Key elements of the role include:
- Providing priority support to service users.

- Enabling victims to access statutory and other services.
- Engaging with and supporting the MARAC process, to ensure that the voice of victims is heard.
- Managing a caseload of high-risk victims and working proactively to support them and their families.
Key responsibilities:
- Provide a high-quality service to those at the highest risk.
- To provide practical and emotional support to service users, working jointly with them to carry out, implement and review needs assessments and support plans.

- Identify and assess the risks and needs of service users using an evidence-based risk identification checklist.

You will be primarily based in Wiltshire supporting the Domestic Abuse Serial Perpetrator (DASP) project, providing bespoke specialist support to perpetrators of domestic abuse. The post holder will work as part of the IOM team within a dynamic, fast paced, crisis intervention, advocacy and support service to ensure that clients who show abusive behaviour are supported through every stage of the process of change. Evening appointments are necessary for this post in Salisbury and Chippenham.
In addition, you will support the delivery of the CPR (Choosing Positive Relationships) Domestic Violence Perpetrator Programme (DVPP), which is an intensive behaviour change programme, designed to increase knowledge and understanding around domestic abuse, the impact on children and healthy relationships. The course teaches tools and strategies to help someone change their behaviour. The CPR group will require weekly evening work in Wiltshire.
The post-holder will be expected to work to Respect standards.

Client Based Duties
- Identify and assess the risks and needs of individuals who are abusive in a relationship or other domestic setting, using an evidence-based risk identification checklist.
- Develop personalised risk assessments and safety plans for each service user.
- Advocate for individuals who wish to address their abusive behaviour and show motivation for change with agencies who can help to address the domestic abuse by:
- Understanding the role of all relevant statutory and non-statutory services available to those who are abusive and how your role fits into them.
- Providing advocacy, emotional and practical support and information to individuals, including in relation to drug and alcohol, housing, health and finance.
- Working directly with all key agency partners to address the impact of the abusive behaviour on the safety of high risk victims and ensuring that their safety plans are coordinated.
- Support the client to recognise the abusive behaviour and the effect that it has on their families and assist them in recognising the features and dynamics of domestic abuse present in their situation and help them change unhealthy patterns of behaviour.
- Understand multi-agency partnership structures and work within a multi-agency setting which may include participation at the MAPPA/MARAC. You will contribute interventions and help design a plan to protect victims and any children, while maintaining an independent role on behalf of your client, keeping the victim and any children’s safety as central to any response.
- Ensure support provided is accessible to clients in terms of location and times.
- Be proactive with your line manager in carrying out regular case reviews based on a review of risk and abuse which:
- Feeds back into action planning to further progress, signpost or close cases and;
- Provides feedback to your clients/agencies.
- Help maintain accurate and confidential case management records and databases and contribute to monitoring information for the service.
- Respect and value the diversity of the community in which the services works in, and recognise the needs and concerns of a diverse range of survivors ensuring the service is accessible to all.
- Remain up-to-date and compliant with all organisational procedures policies and professional codes of conduct and uphold standards of best practice.
