We are seeking an enthusiastic Associate to join a leading Nature programme in this newly created team, supporting emerging international work.

The Role

As a key member of the Institute’s growing nature team, you will be working specifically international nature markets. You will be working on a funded project of work, to support COP15 signatories to understand and implement models and markets that unlock private sector capital into nature restoration and conservation and help them meet their Target 19 commitments. This role will be part of a three-person team within the broader nature team.

You will gain exposure to a range of stakeholders including policy makers, project developers and the private sector across multiple countries. Your responsibilities will include organising stakeholder convening, undertaking research and analysis, developing content, and managing sub-projects autonomously.

Collaboration with industry, government, civil society and academia internationally is a key element of this role and we are looking for team members who will thrive in a dynamic environment where creative thinking, communication and time management skills are essential.

About You

This is an exciting role for someone who has already gained relevant experience within the international development and/or environmental or sustainable finance sectors, looking to continue a career in the emerging area of nature-based investing and natural capital.

The Institute’s nature team is in growth mode and as such this role would suit a versatile project manager who is focused on timely delivery. You are expected to have some stakeholder management skills and strong research and writing skills.

You will be expected to grow your project management and stakeholder management skills and be confident in taking initiatives to manage relationships with potential and existing partners. Ability to co-ordinate multiple projects will be important, and you must be comfortable working in a flexible way. You will grow your expertise in selected areas regarding the content and structure of nature-based revenue models. You will manage one junior role with possibly short-term consultants to oversee from time to time.

About the Role

Reporting to the Chief Executive and managing a small team of Finance and HR personnel, the Head of Finance & Resources position is broad in scope. The post holder will be responsible for the development and implementation of RHSU strategy relating to finance, people and culture, governance and digital infrastructure. The post holder will ensure the delivery and resourcing of operating plans, policy and operating procedures to ensure that the Union delivers its strategic objectives across its support services. The position sits on the Senior Leadership team and will be expected to play a key role in the delivery of our 3 new strategic enabling themes: People & Culture, Well Governed & Sustainable and Physical & Digital Infrastructure.

Key responsibilities are centred around, but not limited to:

Strategic Management and Leadership – including supporting the delivery of the Union’s strategic plan, leading on financial planning, overseeing compliance and forming part of a strong Leadership Team with other senior colleagues and Sabbatical Officers.

People Management – including leading on the People & Culture plan, leading on recruitment and embedding a learning & development culture at RHSU.

Financial Management – including creating a culture of strong financial literacy, leading on all budgeting & forecasting, financial controls, the annual external audit and having overall responsibility for the accuracy of financial records, including but not limited to the organisation’s VAT returns, payroll & pensions, fixed asset portfolio and funds.

Service Development & Delivery – including ownership of contract management, cooperation with the University over block grant funding & IT service provision, leading on change projects around digital infrastructure and both internal & external compliance & reporting.

Who we’re looking for

We’re looking for an experienced finance professional who is ideally at least part-qualified ACCA, CIMA or ACA. An excellent understanding of charity finance, regulation and governance is required, along with experience of senior level management and leadership in a similar sized organisation. 

Skills and experience with developing strategic plans, project/change management and leading on digital infrastructure projects would also be very useful experience to succeed in the role. Strong commercial acumen would be beneficial too -against a backdrop of constantly changing commercial considerations and wider Higher Education sector pressures. 

Whilst core finance skills are essential, both at a strategic and operational level – experience in a broader resources role covering HR, IT, governance or compliance would suit this post well. A demonstrable interest and commitment to a values-driven and student-led organisation is also required.

Role purpose:

Internal Auditor is a new post at ShelterBox. The charity has grown significantly in recent years and now the charity is looking for a motivated experienced internal auditor to join the finance team and establish the new internal audit function.

Plan and deliver internal audits to provide assurance that financial and other control procedures are appropriate and implemented as designed.

Plan and deliver work that identifies risks and potential improvements within; ShelterBox’s overseas activities, the way ShelterBox work with Partners, Partner activities, ShelterBox’s approach to UK based financial activities and continually in ShelterBox’s approach to internal audit.

Design, instruct and conduct standard review activities to act as an important element of ShelterBox’s control environment to deter and detect potential fraud, overseas and in the UK.

The work of the Internal Auditor is closely aligned with the work of the International Programmes Team, the person in this role will support and collaborate with the International Programmes Accountant and the Broader team.  This is not just a financial audit brief, our internal audit function will have a remit covering both operational and financial controls. Whilst this role will perform some review of UK controls, its main focus will be upon our overseas humanitarian projects. There should be a willingness and ability to travel internationally at least once per quarter to programmatic locations, some of which may be insecure environments.

Who are we looking for?

A proactive and enthusiastic self-motivated individual with experience delivering high quality Internal Audit services in an INGO setting. Experience in developing services, new competencies or leading on projects will be beneficial to demonstrate skills needed to develop a new service like the Internal Audit Function at ShelterBox.

The successful candidate must have a recognised qualification which implies a thorough knowledge of the principles, procedures and practices of accounting, financial records and

transactions. These can include one of the following: ACA (Association of Chartered Accountants), CIMA (Chartered Institute of Management Accountants), or ACCA (Certified Chartered Accountant), or international equivalent.

The ideal candidate will be a great communicator and be proven in building and maintaining effective relationships, across teams and with external stakeholders. A communicator able to modify presentation techniques depending on recipients.

Duties will include but not be limited to:

Responsibility for Internal Audit Function

· Responsible for delivery of Internal Audit services that meet the needs of ShelterBox.

· Develop and have approved, terms of reference, common processes, procedures and methodologies for the Internal Audit Department.

· Agree Short, medium and long-term plans for the future Internal Audit Department activities.

· Deliver internal audits to provide assurance that financial and other operational control procedures are adequate, effective and efficient and implemented as designed.

· Deliver internal audits that provide assurance over the stewardship of ShelterBox assets, operational controls and the probity of ShelterBox’s financial reporting.

· Deliver internal audits that provide assurance that ShelterBox and partners comply with UK and overseas legal requirements and contractual obligations.

· Undertake investigations into suspected fraud, or other financial irregularities, whilst complying with best practice and data protection, confidentiality etc

· Respond to requests for assistance and advice from management in respect of any matters relating to systems of control, risk management and governance.

· Work within ShelterBox UK and ShelterBox overseas operations, as well as with partners, affiliates and subsidiaries.

· Support the International Programmes Accountant to deliver effective support for International Programmes team and partners.

· Identify and share common issues highlighted during audits and best practices.

· Support year end accounts preparations by producing deliverable to support the audit or substantiate figures that are incorporated into year end accounts.

· Stay abreast of changes in regulations, and emerging risks to ensure audit processes remain relevant and effective.

Lead and carry-out risk-based internal audits

· Conduct the audit planning process, define the audit scope and prepare the Terms of Reference.

· Organise required logistics arrangements for the audit.

· Prepare the audit work programme.

· Complete and document the audit work (incl. interviews, testing, field visits if applicable and other as appropriate).

· Ensure findings are monitored and implemented.

Ensure good communication with the auditees and communicate the results of audit assignments to relevant internal stakeholders.

· Facilitate the audit kick off meeting.

· Organise and hold debriefing meetings with relevant stakeholders.

· Write the audit report including contextual elements, audit findings, associated risks and recommendations.

· Collaborate with colleagues and partners to develop action plans to address audit findings and track the implementation of corrective actions.

Refugee Council – Philanthropy Manager

Refugee Council is seeking an experienced philanthropy specialist to develop and grow the Refugee Council’s Philanthropy relationships and programme and deliver an ambitious Philanthropy strategy.

We are recruiting four Workforce Leads to support hands-on recruitment, attraction and the onboarding and training of IPS Employment Specialists and Team Leaders across the country. These will be dedicated, regional roles where you will support the scale up of the IPS workforce in your designated region. 
IPS Grow is a national programme designed to support the expansion of Individual Placement and Support (IPS) services in mental health, primary care, and drug and alcohol teams across England. The programme is led by Social Finance in partnership with the Centre for Mental Health. It is funded by NHS England and Improvement (NHSE/I), the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), and the Office for Health Improvement and Disparities (OHID).

The Workforce Lead will provide specialist support to services embarking on recruitment campaigns, monitor their effectiveness and share learning. They will also provide hands-on support for recruitment efforts and training. This will vary according to the service need, but could include headhunting, sifting CVs, preparing for interviews, shortlisting and training.

The opportunity

The Workforce Leads will play a crucial role in the recruitment, onboarding, and training of the IPS Workforce within their designated regions. They will support the scale up of the IPS workforce by ensuring high-quality recruitment processes, comprehensive training programs, and effective onboarding practices. About the role

As an Admin & Accounts Assistant at Sightsavers, this role will be instrumental in ensuring the smooth operation of our office. The role involves providing essential support in day-to-day accounting, administrative, HR, and financial tasks.

The Admin & Accounts Assistant will work closely with our finance and admin teams, utilising solid understanding of accounting, finance, administration, and logistics to facilitate efficient office operations. Having keen attention to detail and organisational skills will be vital in managing various responsibilities, contributing to our mission of improving lives.

Principle Accountabilities

• Assist in maintaining accurate and up-to-date accounting and financial records.
• Process invoices, receipts, payments, and other financial transactions efficiently.
• Prepare vouchers using the SUN accounting system.
• Help reconcile bank statements to ensure accuracy.
• Maintain petty cash records and ensure proper disbursement of funds.
• Provide comprehensive administrative support, including scheduling meetings, managing correspondence, and overseeing vehicle operations.
• Assist with travel arrangements, including booking accommodations and organising itineraries for staff and visitors.
• Support procurement processes by obtaining quotations, preparing purchase orders, and tracking deliveries.
• Aid the procurement committee with related documentation.
• Maintain records of life and health insurance for each employee.
• Keep track of employee benefits and prepare final settlements at the end of employment contracts.
• Undertake any other tasks assigned by the SFSSM.

About you

The Accounts & Admin Assistant will be a proactive and detail-oriented individual with a strong background in accounting and administration. They will possess excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently. With a solid understanding of financial processes, they will ensure accurate record-keeping and timely processing of transactions.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong communication skills, enabling them to liaise effectively with team members and external stakeholders. They will be adept at using accounting software and have a keen eye for detail, ensuring that all financial records are maintained accurately.

Essential:

• Bachelor’s degree in commerce, Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related field. If this qualification is not held, relevant experience in a similar role will be considered.

The main purpose of this role is to oversee the design, development and delivery of CSE’s grant making to community organisations and to ensure that good practices are applied across our grant making activities. The post holder will be responsible for overseeing CSE’s grant making schemes through a combination of direct scheme management and by supporting schemes managed by other CSE staff (for example, by providing templates, guidance, quality checks, advice and relationship management). 

Pay and conditions

The role is full-time (37.5 hours per week).

The starting salary for the role will be £34,788. After your six-month probationary review, your salary may increase to between £35,934-£38,229 per annum.

Specific responsibilities

An applicant appointed to the role will be expected to:

• Designing and developing high-quality grant giving schemes for a range of stakeholders (e.g. community anchor organisations, voluntary community groups, individuals and larger organisations), that enable the realisation of CSE project and programme objectives.
• Make outbound calls to clients when required, such as booking home visits, and keeping client records up to date.
• Developing and implementing a clear set of practices, and making sure they are understood and adhered to, in order to identify, mitigate and monitor potential risks associated with our grant giving projects.
• Maintaining tailoring and adapting our standard documentation (for example, grant agreement template; application form; eligibility criteria; payment form) to different grant schemes, ensuring they meet the individual needs of each scheme and remain as accessible as possible.
• Ensuring efficient processes are in place for evidencing, instructing, and monitoring grant payments, administering payment processes (such as raising and/or checking grant payment requests with our finance team) and that you handle any personal data appropriately.
• Ensuring that high-quality and proportionate project management is in place across our portfolio of grant giving projects, that funders receive the updates and information they need, and grantees are well supported and able to deliver to their objectives efficiently.
• Support project teams with managing relationships directly with grant recipients, including by maintaining strong communications and acting as the main point of contact with CSE; collecting and collating monitoring data; celebrating successes; addressing concerns (for example with review meetings or action plans); escalating issues as appropriate.
• Facilitating learning, networking, and sharing between grantees, ensuring that effective monitoring, evaluation and learning practices are embedded within existing grant-making projects.
• Using learning and feedback to inform how CSE designs future grant programmes and ensure learning is shared effectively with funders with the aim of shaping the broader grant making sector.
• Staying up to date with developments in the grant making sector (including keeping abreast of legal obligations and Equity, Diversity and Inclusion practices), learning from others and continually improving and developing our systems and processes.

‘I AM Brent’ consortium

Step Up Hub leads a consortium, known as I AM Brent, that consists of six well-respected local charities who are working together to address the root causes and effects of violence affecting young people in the London Borough of Brent.

Programme Description

The programme is part of the Mayor of London’s flagship violence reduction programme, known as MyEnds. It is a place-based violence reduction initiative that adopts a public health approach. The consortium is providing an array of positive opportunities for young people and support for families, including through tailored interventions. The programme also aims to improve statutory and voluntary organisation networks and access to referral, and to ensure the voices of young people and community members are built into provision. The work is focused on the Church Road Estate, Stonebridge Estate, St Raphael’s Estate, Chalkhill Estate and Harlesden Town Centre areas.

The Role of the Programme Manager

The Programme Manager will act as the glue between consortium members and provide a key link with statutory bodies, voluntary organisations, and the community. The Programme Manager will be responsible for supporting consortium members with project deliverables where necessary, optimising the integration of provision, overseeing referrals, and brokering community partnerships. The Programme Manager will also schedule meetings and shared activities, provide secretarial support, and represent Step Up Hub and the consortium at relevant meetings.

In addition, the Programme Manager will:

· be responsible for line management of two other Step Up Hub staff members working on I AM Brent programme deliverables, a Network and Communication Lead and a Community Engagement Lead,

· manage, report on, monitor and evaluate the progress of interventions,

· report to VRU, attend VRU meetings, and cascade relevant information from the VRU to consortium members,

· be responsible for engaging stakeholders and community partners, identifying and leveraging their skills, expertise and assets, and leading on youth and community forums

· help engender an environment of trust and collaboration to support stakeholders and community partners engage positively with Step Up Hub and the consortium,

· manage a grant pot and support the delivery of small projects that are funded from it,

· work to actively promote the consortium and Step Up Hub’s activities, as per the organisational guidelines, through producing publicity materials and written reports for regular newsletters and by keeping the website updated,

· coordinate and monitor project budgets, working alongside the finance officer as required,

· ensure that safeguarding is central to the service delivery and is systemically built into case management processes,

· ensure equality of opportunity is embedded in all service delivery by Step Up Hub and consortium partners,

· provide secretarial services for the project steering group, progress meetings and small grants awarding panel.

The programme manager will be supported by the Step Up Hub senior leadership team and consortium partners on all aspects of programme delivery.

We are seeking an experienced candidate with a great understanding and knowledge of individual giving, who shows great leadership skills and the ability to collaborate across teams to maximise opportunities to achieve organisational growth.

The role will manage the Donor Acquisition Fundraiser and In-Memory Fundraiser and be responsible for the overall delivery of our individual giving strategy.

As the Individual Giving Manager, you will play a pivotal role in the planning and implementation of our individual giving programme of fundraising and activities, aimed at individuals. It will be the Individual Giving Manager’s responsibility to generate significant income through individual gifts, campaigns and appeals, regular giving, in memoriam giving, lottery and legacies, and to increase activity and income from these sources.

Your primary focus will be on recruiting new donors, retention through a gold standard supporter journey and income growth for these vital areas of fundraising, all while leading a dedicated team. You will be responsible for delivering innovative and creative appeals as well as supporting the fundraisers responsible for in-memory and donor acquisition to achieve their targets and objectives.

Individual Giving is a growing income stream for Birmingham Hospice, and this have been recognised by the Executive Team who are investing in this area, in particular regular giving and legacies.
