You are an accomplished IT leader with extensive experience in IT strategy and transformation, ideally within the not-for-profit sector. With a degree in Information Technology or a related field, and certifications in project management (e.g., PRINCE2, PMP) or cloud computing (e.g., Microsoft Azure), you bring the expertise needed to drive organisational efficiency and growth. Your project management skills, particularly in areas such as Azure migration and SharePoint implementation, are well-established, and you have a proven track record in integrating CRM, finance, and HR systems. The Role:
Reporting to the CEO, the role will be responsible for managing all commercial and business functions for the Charity, (excluding Clink Events, our social enterprise which has its own business development function).
This is a newly appointed position within the management team and is an exciting opportunity for a strong commercial manager who has previous experience managing office infrastructure, bids, contracts, business relationships and funding. It is essential to have strong finance and IT skill, as the role will work closely with Finance and be responsible for running all inhouse IT systems.
The role will be supported with additional resource from our Bids, Grants, Contracts & Tenders Manager, our Data & Analysis Officer and an external Consultant who advises on business development.
Contract: Permanent, Part Time.
Working Hours: Hours 22.5 a week. Office Based. Flexibility to work over 3, 4 or 5 days, but must include Friday as part of the working week.

Key Responsibilities Include:
Commercial & Business Development:
· Own our commercial relationships with the Ministry of Justice and other major customers.
· Bring in new funders and new contract business from the MOJ, HMPPS, Local Authority Adult Education Providers, and Private Sector companies working in our field.
· Collaborate with our bid and business development team and with our marketing team on fundraising.
· Take the lead on major new grant funding applications.
· Review and develop operational processes to improve performance and maximise growth working closely with the Head of Finance, Director of Operations and MD Clink Events.
· Work together with relevant internal departments to develop accurate and consistent bids.
· Establishing targets for contract income, fundraising and grants, and ensuring the Charity meets them.
Business Management:
· Ensure the smooth running of our Head Office site at Bessemer Park, Herne Hill, London.
· Manage our leases and site infrastructure in Bessemer Park including managing our outsourced IT provider.
· Management of our in-house IT systems contracts relationships (Case Management, Sage, Paperless invoicing).
· Oversee all business accounts and contracts.
· Implement systems and processes to ensure all contracts are managed and renewed including competitive re- tendering as appropriate.
· Managing risk assessments for new initiatives and overseeing the risk register for the Charity.
Experience & Background Required:
We welcome applicants with relevant commercial and contract management experience from the public, private or not for profit sectors. Successful applicants are likely to have had a track record in negotiating public sector contracts and building relationships with commissioners and procurement professionals. Experience in education, training, apprenticeships or justice services would be of particular interest.
It is essential that the role holder is Financially and IT literate, someone who can lead the commercial function, manage our outsourced IT infrastructure providers and provide business leadership to the management of all internal supply contracts.
You will work closely with the Finance team and support the remote working Head of Finance to provide oversight and support to our finance team members based at Head Office.

You would be joining us at a time when in the middle of last year, we launched our new identity as the Leadership Skills Foundation (previously Sports Leaders UK) alongside a new 5-year ‘Evolve’ strategy. Looking ahead, with new programmes and partnerships emerging, this role will now play a significant part in helping us expand the network of centres delivering Leadership Skills Foundation programmes and broaden the audiences we reach. Over the next few years, we aim to create an adaptable leadership skill offer that will increase our reach to more young people across, fully establishing the Leadership Skills Foundation as the trusted voice for leadership skills development.

Trusts and Foundations Manager
The Trusts and Foundations Manager with be responsible for the ongoing management of the current successful high-value portfolio ranging from £2m commitments to £100k grants. In addition to ensuring the current portfolio is expertly stewarded with the aim of renewing and uplifting existing funders, the role will also be responsible for expanding the portfolio, focusing on both the national programme and the individual pathfinders projects in the longer term.
The Trusts and Foundations Manager with not have any direct line management reports in order to focus their time on fundraising but will work closely with The Manager will take a relationship-based approach to our funding partnership, working directly with grantors to create impactful propositions and proposals to support Thrive at Five’s strategic priorities. The successful applicant will develop and manage a detailed prospect pipeline managed through our database, to ensure we make the very best of opportunities, in addition to new partnerships being identified and scoped.
The role will involve collaboration and coordination across the organization, both to keep abreast of the latest information for grantors, but also to bring key stakeholders and experts into discussions and partnerships as and when necessary to further develop and strengthen relationships. colleagues, providing coaching, support and advice on the lower-level trust portfolio on a regular basis.
Hybrid (1-2 days per week in our London office and the rest of the week working from home – with occasional national travel to our local sites)
Our preference is a 5 day a week, 35 hours per week role. However, we will consider excellent candidates who are available 4 days a week.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy and Planning
- Work with the Head of Fundraising to further develop the long-term fundraising strategy working to maximise multi-year partnerships from like-minded funders
- Manage the annual planning processes for Trusts and Foundations, prioritising meaningful engagement and stewardship opportunities for new and existing funders
- Work closely with the Director of Finance on the annual budget and monthly forecasts
Portfolio Management
- Manage the existing portfolio of c. 25 active multi-year grants ranging from £100k-£2m, providing excellent and timely reporting in addition to creative and impactful ongoing stewardship. The existing funders’ interests will be split across our national programme and regional pathfinders (currently Stoke-on-Trent and Redcar and Cleveland, with discussions underway in Middlesborough and Scotland).
- Regularly communicate with those in the portfolio on a 1:1 basis, working with senior stakeholders directly as and when necessary to maximise opportunities including Trustees, Advisory Board Members, Senior Leadership Team (‘SLT’) and the CEO
- Organise and attend programme visits to pathfinder locations as and when necessary to strengthen partnerships with grantors, long term in addition to regular face to face funder meetings
- Support the delivery of cultivation and stewardship events for prospects, funders and connectors, cross the country
Prospect Research and Pipeline Management
- Manage a portfolio of c.30 warm and cold prospects, to create bespoke cultivation opportunities, engage in fact-finding discussions, and submit detailed concept notes and proposals as relationships develop. The aim is for the existing portfolio of active funders to double over the next two years through a rigorous prospect engagement programme
- Focus on constant movement and momentum within the trusts and foundations pipeline, continuously researching new prospects, and network mapping contacts across the organisations to explore new avenues of support for both the national programme and the pathfinder projects
- Proactively engage with the grant making community with a shared interested in early years development by attending sector specific events and opportunities, and in addition to those focused on pathfinder areas such as Scottish grantmakers or those focused on the Northwest of England.
Processes and Systems
- Champion data excellence across fundraising by utilising the Raiser Edge database, ensuring it is the up-to-date centralised data management system for all prospects, funders, events and communications
- Provide regular reports to the Head of Fundraising and SLT on movement within the grants pipeline including chances of success
- Support the management of the lower-level grants portfolio, taking a coaching approach and sharing your expertise widely
- Work with the Head of Fundraising to ensure the team are confident in all fundraising processes and procedures including grant acceptance policy, due diligence policy, prospect research process, data protection policy and GDPR requirements

BACKGROUND
Magic Breakfast provide a nutritious and filling breakfast to over 200,000 children and young people every school day. We work with schools in areas of high disadvantage, helping staff target the children most in need without barrier or stigma. Magic Breakfast are ambitious to grow our impact to remove hunger as a barrier to learning for all children and young people in the UK.
The new UK government’s Children’s Wellbeing Bill outlined in the King’s Speech, includes a requirement for free school breakfast clubs in every English primary school. This is a fantastic start towards ending child morning hunger. Magic Breakfast’s influence will be instrumental to ensuring school breakfasts are introduced in a way that is hunger-focused and barrier free. In 2021, the Scottish Government, pledged a not yet enacted promise to provide breakfast to primary children.
Thousands of secondary school children are at risk of losing their free school breakfasts from September next year. For many of these students, this is their only opportunity to have a nutritious meal before facing a demanding school day, including taking exams.

JOB PURPOSE
Magic Breakfast’s mission is to end child morning hunger in the UK now and for good the Philanthropy team’s role is to develop and deliver the charity's high net worth individual giving programme in line with Magic Breakfast’s strategic priorities to enable our organisational growth against our mission.
We are seeking to grow income through further cultivation and stewardship of our potential and existing donors. Our High Value Giving teams are forecast to collectively raise £5.1m in 2021/22, up from £4.6m two years ago in 2019/20. The team includes partnerships with charitable trusts and foundations, corporate organisations, and high-net-worth individuals.
Reporting into the Head of Philanthropy, this role will have a particular focus on ensuring that Magic Breakfast is offering the highest quality of donor care from start to finish, and building and developing our prospect pipeline.

About James’ Place
James’ Place Charity was set up by Clare Milford Haven and Nick Wentworth-Stanley in 2008 after their twenty-one-year-old son, James, died by suicide ten days after a minor operation. James had no history of mental illness or depression and had sought urgent help for anxiety and suicidal thoughts, but didn’t find it.
James' Place was set up to make the experience of finding help as easy as possible. James’ Place offers men who are experiencing a suicidal crisis a brief, intensive, therapeutic intervention in a safe environment. Men who walk through the door at James’ Place will be in a space where they feel valued and respected.
The first James’ Place opened in June 2018 in Liverpool, the first of its kind in the UK, and has to date supported more than 2,300 men experiencing suicidal crisis through our innovative and safe therapeutic intervention. We provide a calm and peaceful environment both inside the centre and in our landscaped garden, accessible to men who visit us as well as their friends and families.
In 2022 we opened a new centre in London and in early in 2023 we launched an appeal to raise over £10m to fund three more centres across the country. Our third centre opened in Newcastle at the beginning of 2024, and we are currently raising funds to open a James’ Place in Brimingham.

About the role:

From managing daily cleaning and maintenance routines, to overseeing larger projects, this is a unique opportunity to build and develop the estate management routines at our newest site in Stratford, and to become involved in some key pieces of capital project work designed to enhance the experience of our client users across the organisation. You will be prepared to be hands-on when required, but able to step back and manage the big picture. We work at pace and need you to do the same.
