World Cancer Research Fund explores how diet, weight and physical activity affect your risk of developing cancer. We now have an exciting opening for a Head of Media, PR & Editorial. The postholder will be responsible for developing and supporting key campaigns and strategies that help to promote and explain the work, impact, health messaging and funding needs to diverse audiences. You will achieve these through PR and media relations, awareness-raising campaign development, supporter stories, celebrity/ambassador management, and the management of a small team, including staff and specialist consultant support.

We are seeking an experienced communications professional with demonstrable expertise and a track-record of success in managing communications for a charity, health or science-related organisation, including developing successful media strategies, with positive press coverage, and writing clear, engaging copy for different audiences across digital and social media channels. The successful candidate will also have proven experience planning and managing multiple cross-departmental projects.

- Working across teams to develop performance metrics and reporting mechanisms for evaluating success and outcomes in the delivery of BCS, as well as providing analysis

- Work with the Membership Communications Team to promote positive news and updates, whilst ensuring messages are consistent
- Manage BCS enquiries internally and monitor social media forums
- Volunteer management including supporting other internal teams with volunteer onboarding, training and development
- Sustain a check in system for beneficiaries and volunteers to effectively keep track of their safety, wellbeing and positive news stories

Reporting to: Area Manager

Location of work: Flexible. This post holder will be based at home but daily travel to schools or other establishments within your allocated local area will be required including some early morning breakfast visits. The role will require irregular travel throughout the UK with minimal overnight stays. A full driver’s licence and use of a vehicle is required.

BACKGROUND 

Magic Breakfast is a registered charity providing healthy breakfasts to children and young people in the UK who arrive at school too hungry to learn, and expert support to their schools. Over 200,000 children and young people are on roll at Primary, Secondary, ASL / Special Educational Needs Schools and Pupil Referral Units that the charity works with, in disadvantaged areas of Scotland and England. Providing breakfast ensures that children start their school day with the energy and nutrition they need to be able to make the most of their morning lessons.  Magic Breakfast also undertakes research, and campaigns for long-term solutions to end hunger as a barrier to learning.  

This is an exciting time at Magic Breakfast, as we have expanded our team to meet the challenge of ending morning hunger for now, and for good.

JOB PURPOSE 

Magic Breakfast’s mission is to end child morning hunger in the UK now and for good. The Service Delivery team is responsible for ensuring the delivery of our breakfast provision. As Engagement Partner, you will work with relevant partners (schools, local authorities, parents, parent councils) to ensure that breakfast provision is optimized, encouraging reach and providing education on relevant topics.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:  

Pipeline development and cultivation:   

• To develop a relationship with the supported schools in their respective area, to enable, preserve, embed, enhance and extend stigma and barrier free breakfast pron.

• To educating and engage with the wider school community, including teachers, parents and children and young people on the importance of breakfast and implications of hunger as a barrier learning through various means including assemblies, staff meetings, online events and regional events throughout the academic year.

• To engage with the wider community to advocate for the importance of breakfast, the work that we are doing in existing schools and to support our campaigning and advocacy strategy and plans.

• To develop brand awareness in schools and local communities in line with our marketing strategy

• To support the recruitment of new schools with launching new breakfast provisions, adapting to the requirements of the school and children and young people, and advising on best practise

• To support any media requests as directed through the Policy & Engagement team

• To capture and report on “storytelling” to enable the organisation to utilise qualitative data to support external communication

• To explore, share and deliver on new engagement ideas across the department and organisation

• To enable, support and feedback on new ways of working, trials and innovations

Role Requirements

Reporting to the Senior Engineer, the Electrician will use their vast experience, skill, and knowledge from previous roles to deliver exceptional electrical maintenance to the estate, ensuring the efficient operation and safety of all electrical systems and associated items in compliance with current standards and regulations.

In addition to your primary responsibilities, you'll also be responsible for conducting Portable appliance  testing (PAT), quarterly RCD functionality checks, monthly emergency light tests, and an annual drop test on the estate's electrical systems. You'll also be tasked with generating minor works and electrical installation certificates for the completed tasks.

A qualification in inspection and testing will be essential for this position, demonstrating your proficiency in assessing electrical installations and systems. An approved Electrician with a ECS Gold card will be essential, reflecting your commitment to maintaining industry standards.

Furthermore, you won't solely focus on electrical tasks. To add variety to your day, you'll also be assigned other duties through the help desk. These tasks will diversify your workload and ensure your role remains dynamic and engaging.

Ensuring requirements of Children, young people, parents, staff and visitors are met at all times the role will support normal operations of the organisation, assisting with the supervision and monitoring of External contractors and any other duties that may be required.

The role holder will participate in a 7-day shift rota and out of hours call out to ensure a 24/7 coverage of the estate. The role will provide reciprocal cover of the maintenance and logistics department.

World Jewish Relief created the Specialist Training and Employment Programme (STEP) for refugees in 2016 and today we are the largest provider of specialist employment support to refugees in the UK.STEP aims to support and empower people with experience of forced migration through a tailored employment programme that addresses the complex barriers refugees face in preparing for, and ultimately finding, work in the UK.STEP is open to all refugees, and people seeking asylum with the right to work.

Our strategy over the next 12 months is to refine and strengthen our programmes, with a focus on excellence, innovation and sustainability across STEP.  Central to these efforts is adopting ‘Lean Impact’ principles across our organisation and ways of working, with the support of Spring Impact. The starting point of this work is the planning and pilot of STEP Online, an intensive version of STEP to fast track those who are highly skilled. We plan to explore, test and plan for this programme in consultancy with Spring Impact, leveraging their Lean Impact Methodology.

The post holder will play a pivotal role in leading this piece of work with two main objectives:

1. Explore, test and plan for STEP Online. This will involve being the lead implementer of testing minimum viable products, participating in workshops and identified working groups, and co-leading on test coaching sessions and team reflections with Spring Impact.

About you

The Centre for Computing History is an accredited museum and charity situated in Cambridge, with collections and learning at its heart. The museum's core purpose is to increase understanding of the history of computing by exploring its social, cultural and historical impact.

Our collection rightly celebrates the incredible evolution of computing technology. However, the museum also has a responsibility to recognise the ecological impact of the rise of technology, and to date we have not explored these stories. We are excited to have secured funding from the Esmée Fairbairn Collections Fund, run by the Museums Association, for an exciting new two-year project, Broken Tech : Broken Earth. Role Summary 

We're now seeking a talented, energetic and efficient Project Coordinator to oversee this exploratory project. 

The Esmée Fairbairn Collections Fund, run by the Museums Association, aims to encourage participatory practice in museums, and this concept lies at the heart of this project. Participatory practice means involving visitors and communities in the creation and interpretation of museum exhibitions, programs, and events content – asking for stories about objects in the collection, rather than assuming we know what the most important stories are. This approach is inclusive, encourages visitors to feel ownership and helps museums discover untold stories about their collections.

We are looking for someone special to co-ordinate this process and exploit our unique platform to raise awareness of environmental issues and e-waste and to create change. The Project Co-ordinator will take ownership of the day-to-day operations of the Broken Earth Project, including working closely with all external and internal stakeholders, monitoring progress, and ensuring project milestones are met. This new fixed-term role is a critical part of the project and crucial to its success. 

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:

Location: Our offices at Wesley Memorial Hall in central Oxford, outreach locations and home
Hours: 21 hours per week (0.5676 FTE)

This role is designed to meet the debt advice needs of Oxford residents. The post holder will provide debt advice including benefit checks, ways to raise income and reduce overheads. Advice will be given by telephone/email, by appointment in person at our office, and to drop in clients at outreaches. 

• A trainee position may be considered for the right candidate at a trainee salary level
• A fully remote position may be considered for a candidate with relevant experience. 

Role purpose: to provide an effective and efficient debt advice service to local residents within the aims, policies and principles of the CA service.   

Key responsibilities:

• Interview clients using sensitive listening and questioning skills in order to allow clients to explain their problem(s) and empower them to set their own priorities.
• Use the Citizens Advice Information System to find, interpret and communicate the relevant information.
• Research and explore options and implications so that clients can make informed decisions.
• Act for the client where necessary by negotiating, drafting or writing letters and telephoning.
• Liaise and negotiate with other statutory and voluntary organisations to progress the client’s case and ensure they receive all assistance available. 
• Signpost and refer internally and externally as appropriate in order to link clients into additional relevant support . 
• -Ensure that all work conforms to the office systems and procedures
• Maintain detailed case records for the purpose of continuity of casework, information retrieval, statistical monitoring and report preparation.

We're looking for:

• Experience of advice work in debt and benefits. Ideally also experience in a wider range of areas - for example, housing, employment, consumer and immigration.
• Ability to work sensitively with a diverse range of clients
• An understanding of the issues involved in interviewing clients, particularly those who may be experiencing stress and anxiety.
• An ordered approach to your work and an ability to follow set procedures concerning casework and file management etc
• Ability to use IT in the provision of advice and the preparation of reports and submissions. 
• Good oral communication skills with particular emphasis on negotiation and representation skills on the telephone. 
• Ability to communicate effectively in writing with particular emphasis on negotiation and representation skills and on preparing grant applications, reviews, reports and correspondence.
• Numeracy skills required to understand statistics and check calculations. 
• Ability to monitor and maintain own work to comply with set standards 
• An understanding of and commitment to the Aims and Principles of the Citizens Advice service including the services Equal Opportunities policies. 
• Ability to work independently without close supervision, to prioritise own work, meet deadlines whilst contributing to the wider Citizens Advice team.

One of our key objectives at Sportily is to develop and invest in young sports leaders. Over the past 18 months we’ve designed a pilot programme to enable this and trialled elements of it. We’re now looking for someone to further develop, shape and own our programme, to work alongside our network of Sport and Faith Coaches to deliver it and to hold leadership level responsibility for seeing the wildly important goals of the programme realised within our wider vision.

At the heart of this role you’ll hold Leadership Team level responsibility for the programme which provides opportunities, within a Christian sports centred setting and framework, for children, young people and young adults (with a priority on the more disadvantaged) to gain skills, experience, training and qualifications to increase their self-esteem, confidence and future employment opportunities. This will include responsibility for its ongoing development, leading its delivery approaches, training the Sport and Faith Team in its delivery, exploring opportunities related to the programme, monitoring and evaluating its impact and reporting this to stakeholders.

We are looking for someone who loves sport and understands how sport and movement is able to connect people and is passionate about sharing the Christian faith in innovative ways beyond the walls of traditional church. You’ll have experience in developing programmes and monitoring their successful achievement of stated objectives, and of investing in the leadership development potential of young people, ideally in a sporting context.

The Role:  

• Developing products and processes to meet income delivery and tree planting targets 
• Collaborate with colleagues to develop models to aid decision making within the Products and Donations area, including forecasting of tree sales. 
• Work with suppliers whilst ensuring alignment with organisational and sustainability values 
• Manage relationships with the Trust’s creative and media agencies, and with teams across the organisation 
• Oversee the development and management of tree products including the online shop 
• Whilst the focus is on trees, there will be scope to work across multiple product areas during this fixed term contract, helping to improve reporting and drive decision making based on data and insight.? 
• This role includes a mix of working from home and at our main office in Grantham, Lincolnshire. Visits to Grantham would be required no more than once per month. There may also be a requirement for additional supplier visits with some overnight stays.
• This is a 12-month fixed term contract (Maternity Cover) working 30 hours per week 

The Candidate: 

• You are an experienced manager with specific skills in product development  
• You have a strong background in working with colleagues to build robust models to understand product profitability and stock forecasting 
• You have excellent analytical skills and be proficient in Excel and other forecast modelling tools 
• You have strong budgeting and stock management skills 
• You may have experience of forecasting within the retail sector 
• This will be a varied role, so you possess strong leadership, marketing, communication and project management skills, and the ability to problem solve  
• You will have line management or supervisory experience

The Senior Volunteering Officer will help us to explore and develop new approaches to volunteering within the NHS. This role is focused on supporting our volunteers that are based within Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust services across the North West London Community and to develop new volunteering roles that focus on health challenges within the community.

You’ll provide a high quality experience to volunteers that are located within our community sites, by working with Trust staff and partner organisations to develop new roles that improve the experience to our patients within these clinical services, to identify new locations and roles, to develop our volunteering offer within Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.

This role will work with the Trust to develop new approaches to volunteering, with a particular focus on designing, launching and evaluating volunteer roles that could bring system change to wider health inequalities.

Additionally, you’ll focus on our volunteer community, ensuring that our volunteer community is as representative of the wider population, and seek to engage groups with a particular focus on the Core20plus5 groups.

Main Tasks:

Provide leadership and support to enable a high quality volunteering experience within Trust Services within the North West London Community

Work in partnership with wider charity teams, to identify areas to link up work around the population health programme of work and identify appropriate volunteering opportunities
