The Corporate & Public Engagement team in the Communications Directorate promotes corporate interest in the College and engages future medics and scientists in careers in pathology, particularly through our awareness activities, including National Pathology Week.

The main purpose of this role is to provide administrative support to the Corporate & Public Engagement Manager. This would involve booking meetings, drafting correspondence and tracking our budget. You will help to organise events and be responsible for collecting, collating, analysing and presenting feedback from them so we can introduce improvements. You will update our website, and post content on our social media channels to engage our audiences.

The College is a professional membership organisation dedicated to the advancement of the science and practice of pathology. There are currently approximately 12,000 members, all of whom are pathologists based in hospitals, universities and laboratories in the UK and overseas. The College’s main tasks are to set and maintain training standards for doctors and scientists, to advice on the appointment of consultant pathologists, to ensure the membership is kept up to date with current practice through the continuing professional development scheme, and to promote the latest developments in pathology by holding scientific meetings.

We have recently closed our Surgical Neonatal Appeal, having successfully raised our £3m target towards a brand new, state of the art Surgical Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at the hospital. This year we will be fundraising towards a new Same Day Emergency Care Centre, providing an unrivalled experience for our patients and their families. 

About the role: 

This is an exciting opportunity to join a busy Corporate Partnerships Team. Reporting into the Corporate Partnerships Manger, the post holder will work with the Corporate Partnerships Team to deliver the corporate fundraising strategy. 

The post holder will be responsible for managing a portfolio of corporate partnerships, stewarding supporters, organising and managing corporate events as well as supporting with content for corporate partner communications. 

Key Responsibilities will include: 

• To assist the Corporate Partnerships Team in delivering against their financial and non-financial targets as specified within the corporate fundraising strategy.

• Income generation.

• Management of your own portfolio of corporate accounts which includes providing outstanding donor stewardship to maximise supporter experience, engagement and funds raised. 

• Organise, manage and execute our corporate fundraising and engagement events such as our Dragon Boat Festival and Golf Day. 

• To work together as a team to grow corporate fundraising income through current partnerships and new business approaches, as agreed with the Head of Corporate Partnerships. 

• Utilise the CRM database to maintain accurate records for data segmentation and for income and other KPI reporting purposes. 

• Create funding reports for external partners when required. 

• Support and attend third-party corporate events as well as wider charity events. 

• Keep up to date with fundraising trends. 

• Communication and stewardship 

• Work with the Corporate Fundraising Manager and Marketing Team to develop a communication plan for corporate accounts. 

• Interact with corporate partners on social media, as well as creating content for platforms such as LinkedIn.

• Create stewardship/development plans for corporate partners. 

• Create and deliver presentations to raise awareness of the work of the Charity.

• Deliver tours of the hospital to supporters autonomously.  To assist the Corporate Partnerships Team in delivering against their financial and non-financial targets as specified within the corporate fundraising strategy.

• Be an outstanding advocate for Alder Hey Children’s Charity in line with the core values of the organisation. 

• To act as a spokesperson for the charity when required, including representing at external events as appropriate 

• Be an active and supportive member of the Alder Hey Children’s Charity team, contributing to the team’s development and working collaboratively with colleagues and volunteers. Attend and support events run by the fundraising teams where required. 

• Gain and maintain in-depth knowledge and understanding of the charity’s work, priorities and future plans and act as a spokesperson for the Charity when required, including representing at external events as appropriate.

*The charity is currently conducting a four-day working week trial, due to end on 31st March 2025. This fixed term contract is for 14 months at 28.13 hours per week. As part of our 4-day working week trial (working week Monday to Thursday) working hours required will be 22.5 hours per week if you opt to sign up to the trial and its associated conditions. If the trial was to end after 31st March 2025, the working hours required would return to the contracted weekly hours for this role of 28.13 hours per week. As part of our staff charter, we have a flexible working policy and can consider accommodating a flexible working pattern such as school working hours if requested.

About the Role

The focus of the role is to lead Love Barton during the Charity Manager’s maternity leave, managing the existing projects detailed below, as well as working with the Trustees on fundraising. 

Projects

Health & Wellbeing: 

Hear4You is a listening service set up to support people in the community who are struggling emotionally. We receive referrals from our local GP surgery and people are matched with a volunteer listener for up to twelve 1-2-1 sessions. 

We also run an emergency foodbank twice a week in partnership with CEF , and are in the process of setting up a pantry in partnership with Mercy in Action to support 25 struggling families with ongoing food poverty support. This will be delivered by volunteers but will need general oversight from you. 

Your job would be to:

• Recruit, train and support volunteers

• Manage these projects to ensure they run smoothly and safely

Youth:

Know Your Worth is an eight week self esteem course for teenage girls run twice a year for local young people followed by 6-12 months of mentoring. We have a small team of volunteer mentors and a trained volunteer leader who runs the course. 

We are also setting up regular opportunities to gather the girls who have completed the Know Your Worth course for ongoing support. 

Your job would be:

• Support the Know Your Worth Leader (volunteer role) in organising and running our Know Your Worth course for teenage girls, overseeing sign ups, communications with families, safeguarding and health & safety.

• Recruit, train and support volunteer mentors to ensure mentoring programme runs effectively and safely. 

• Develop and manage our monthly/termly sessions for those who have attended a Know Your Worth course

Flourishing Families:

In response to local need, we want to provide support for families before they reach crisis points. We do this through 1-2-1 pastoral support and the Kids Matter Parenting courses as well as hosting seasonal family events and a weekly toddler group that’s run in partnership with Barton Community Church. 

Your job would be:

• To provide and coordinate targeted pastoral care to individual families in need. 

• To organise and deliver a termly, seasonal community event ideally in partnership with other local groups and organisations

Other key tasks/responsibilities 

• Enable the work, relationships and partnerships of Love Barton to continue and, expand the reach, visibility and community integration of the charity 

• Network with other key providers and stakeholders in Barton and attend community meetings to represent Love Barton

This exciting Project Assistant role will work closely with the Programme Development Officer to support the development and delivery of Reclaiming Our Power. We’re here to prevent children and young people becoming involved in violence. We do this by finding out what works and building a movement to put this knowledge into practice.  

The Research team is at the heart of our efforts to learn what works and put it into practice. We do this by commissioning research (including qualitative research, systematic reviews of intervention evidence and data analysis), and using this research to write and publish guidance across YEF’s sectors of interest.

We would be especially interested to hear from you if:   

• You know a lot about policing and/or youth justice: You know the key ideas and debates, recent policy developments and key people. You’re comfortable talking about policing and/or youth justice with experts. There are many ways to acquire this knowledge. You might have worked in the police or youth justice, in associated organisations, or learnt about either during a degree. 

The Senior Research Manager will: 

• Lead the development of evidence-based recommendations in policing. 

• Lead the development of the YEF’s strategy and research agenda on policing and youth justice. 

• Become the YEF’s expert on policing and youth justice.

About the role

We are looking for an experienced business development professional with an excellent track record of securing corporate partnerships. You’ll be an enthusiastic, proactive and relationship-focussed individual confident to work towards driving growth within the charity. You’ll work alongside the CEO and Head of Marketing to increase the number of partners we work with specifically focusing on our mentor development programme Break the Wall. 

Responsibilities

• Generate leads and foster new partnerships with companies across the creative industries. You’ll attend pitches, write proposals and negotiate comfortably and with confidence.

• Create outbound leads. You’ll be setting up email campaigns and tracking the progress of new partnerships.

• Maintain and develop strong relationships with existing partners to ensure high renewal rates

• Work with the Head of Marketing to create innovative campaigns to attract new partners.

• Attend  industry events to network and ensure that CMN is at the forefront of the DEI conversation

• Create and implement a strategy to increase the number of partners (mentors) we work with on our Break the Wall programme. 

• Pitch Creative Mentor Networks offering and hold Q&As about our programmes and mission to potential partners

• Use Salesforce (CRM system) to track and manage leads/pipeline reporting into the CEO regarding leads and targets.

The Upper Norwood Library Hub (UNLH) provides lifelong learning and opportunity for local communities and designs inclusive spaces for learning, wellbeing and the arts that support local communities and protect and sustain libraries. Chapter2 is a young and growing charity that is uniquely focused on helping one of the most at-risk groups within our communities: fatherless boys. Millions of boys in the UK are growing up without any meaningful contact with their father and the consequences can be profound. Chapter2 is combatting this worsening trend across Reading by offering dedicated long-term male mentors for fatherless boys.

We have two mentoring programmes:

1. Partnership programme: The provision of trained and assessed mentors for young persons is achieved in partnership with a “Partner Organisation” such as a local church. 

2. Centralised programme: The provision of trained and assessed mentors for young persons is achieved independently by Chapter2. 

This role is an exciting opportunity to help grow our Centralised programme. This role is ideally suited to an outgoing self-starter who is comfortable working within an open and fast-moving environment. 

The main purpose of the role is to recruit, train and supervise mentors.  We are looking for a highly motivated individual whose personality, experience and skills are flexible and adept in navigating a range of responsibilities. We would consider either a part-time (minimum 3 days a week) or full-time position for this role.

Job description 

General 

• Support the continued growth of the charity as it seeks to respond to the significant need in the Reading area for mentors for fatherless boys. In particular, through providing support for the Centralised programme. 

• Being supportive and sympathetic towards Chapter2’s Christian ethos. 

Mentors 

• Develop and implement a strategy for recruiting new male mentors for the Centralised programme. 

• Assess and train volunteer male mentors. 

• Monitor the progress of the mentoring relationship through regular in-house monitoring and supervision. At the minimum you will hold monthly meetings with mentors to review progress either virtually or in person. 

• Utilise feedback to engage and encourage mentors (videos, statistics, testimonies) and to contribute to the wider Chapter2 external communications. 

• Help to develop, attend and present at training or recruitment events. 

• Attend group activities and mentor events. 

Mums/Guardians and Mentees 

• Support in updating our referrals database on Charity Suite (you will be provided with training on how to use this system). 

• Manage regular communication with mums/guardians. 

• Arrange and attend pre-matching and matching meetings. 

• Attend professional meetings when appropriate.

• Attend Mums/Guardian events.

• Contribute to the ongoing assessment of the centralised mentoring programme through the co-ordination of an external evaluation process.

Summary of main responsibilities and accountabilities

Partnership Management, Stakeholder Engagement & Business Development

· Working alongside the Tees & Tyne Regional Manager to respond to the needs of the programme, ensuring that our young people have meaningful encounters with a range of employers from a diversity of industries and sectors.

· Day-to-day operational account management for employer supporters, ensuring they have excellent experiences.

· Full partnership and operational account management for lower-level funders in your region.

· Promote the contribution of Career Ready and awareness of Career Ready to potential supporters and assist in engaging their commitment to give both practical and financial support.

· Engaging new corporate, third and public sector organisations to directly support the programme delivery, working with the Head of Programmes to launch and grow the Tees & Tyne Regional Action Board 

· Work with the Programmes and Partnership and Incomes teams to develop and deliver the overall employer engagement strategy for the area ensuring that the number of mentors is matched with the paid internship commitment and that employer volunteers are in place for masterclass delivery and workplace visits.
